Oh poor you wreck

Bornlazy · 11/03/2018 13:33

Wreck you have my sympathies, there's nothing worse than travelling with a hangover

Went with my dh to get my mothers day gift this morning - worked really well as managed to stop him buying all the shite of the day Grin

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/03/2018 13:34

Living the dream wreck 🥤💦

So this weekend DP has unblocked the drain, put up the bedroom blind and finally attached the clingfilm dispenser to the wall. He has outdone himself for a diy procrastinator

I’m about to collect a clothes order from M&S food hall. Must.not.spend.too.much

AdoraBell · 11/03/2018 14:08

Happy Mother’s Day 🥂💐

SunnyLikeThursday · 11/03/2018 14:55

Thanks for the encouraging words on the Beavers outing. It went okay, and several people can now tie knots who couldn't before. Actually we got lost, and the other Beaver leader taught them to tie knots, but I'm still going to give myself a gold star, because I've never organised a whole outward bound event before. LOL!

Ds took me out for lunch afterward and was supernaturally patient while we stood in the longest queue ever. Now home.

Mammy well done for telling your family. That sounds difficult, but a good job done. I bet your Mum learned a lot that she didn't know before in that conversation.

Good photo Em.

Snuggly I'm not sure why there were cactus spines in a restaurant chocolate cake. That was a mystery that I never really solved.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2018 16:07

Happy hangover wreck. Hate travelling hung over.

Em/snuggly et al there is a thing on Facebook where someone had tied helium balloons to baby's wrists.

£700 spent today. Now the proud owner of a car with 20 miles on the clock and we did 10 of those test driving.

Well done on the Beaver thing sunny.

Anyone know about gap insurance? Is it worth it?
I figured out my last question.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/03/2018 16:14

No gap insurance is a bit of a con.

NSD although I owe Dh £10 for mil flowers. The M&S ones were very nice.

mammymammyIRL · 11/03/2018 16:17

Em he is super cute Smile

it was a big day & I told my df this morning, he just went quiet but before I left he told me that any time I wanted to come to stay I could. Dm cried more as I was leaving and told me to stay safe, followed by whatever that means.

I'm drained physically still from flu and narrowly escaped being in a car crash last night, so being emotionally drained on top of it is seriously draining.

mammymammyIRL · 11/03/2018 16:21

Life which car did you get? I love cars!

WreckTangled · 11/03/2018 16:24

Mammy Thanks

mammymammyIRL · 11/03/2018 16:29

Wreck I can empathise with you, been there done that, most memorable time was an 8 hour bus journey while being pukey. When I hear of the town I visited that weekend, I shudder!

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2018 16:38

5 seat, zetec, cmax, pre reg

Look after yourself today Mammy. Try and relax this afternoon

mammymammyIRL · 11/03/2018 17:16

Fabulous I've a Ford Focus saloon I love it Smile I assume by mileage pre reg means w shiny new car, well wear as we say in Ireland.

I had dinner & dessert with my parents sister & dc, then a chat with our neighbour and am now on my journey home almost 3 hours of driving, we've just stopped for sweets now.
Going to visit my Nan on way way home. Will finish up with bathing dc & bedtime at end of journey.

ChristmasSeacow · 11/03/2018 17:23

Hey all, a brief visit as things are v busy here.

I’ve jot checked in for a couple of days and about 8 pages have filled!

North hope the test results are okay, the waiting must be awful Flowers

Lonely cake is fab

Wreck I sympathise with the pulley travelling!

Meadow hope DGPig is okay. Re. Oxford, I am sorry you had such a hard time over it. I’ve no idea what view they do /should take on extenuating circumstances but I’m guessing you didn’t take the Oxford entrance exam (neither did I, by the way, but the majority of people do)? If you do the exam application route and do well enough to get an offer it tends to be unconditional, ie you don’t need to get anything decent at A levels. That’s why there are people who get in with poor grades - they aced Oxford entrance and then switched off. To be fair Oxford entrance is harder than A levels. I think the ‘unfairness’ is actually that private schools, and many state schools, are able to coach for Oxford entrance. Mine wasn’t as it hadn’t had an Oxford applicant for many years (and tbh I don’t think my teachers could do the papers!). So I did the non-exam route and had a conditional offer. For what it’s worth my sister had an offer from Cambridge and missed one of her grades too. So she ended up going elsewhere and had a great time. I think there’s more than one ‘right answer’ to most things in life but family pressure is something else Flowers

Had a pretty difficult weekend with DS. We made it to the museum before the special 8am opening but in spite of the fact that it was almost empty and the staff were utterly brilliant DS couldn’t cope at all. I think it was the huge open spaces (we were the only people in the Hintze Hall with the great blue what skeleton!). He kept running away and screeching a lot. It was pretty testing all round. Dd was an angel though. In the end we retreated to the cafe for cake and I bought a few toys for DS to make up for how shitty I was feeling (total emotional spending Blush). He’s been hard work ever since, I think he’s still agitated inside. But we made 3-D gingerbread dinosaurs today to stick with the theme. They were yummy.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2018 17:41

Focus was on my top 3. Yes registered in December but sat at the dealers since then.
Shiny

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/03/2018 17:44

Ah sea. You tried with ds and he will have got something from it. Love the dinosaurs. Is that the Lakeland mold? You are doing great.

Wolfcub · 11/03/2018 17:57

Life congrats on the new car. Mammy well done on telling the family and I’m glad they’re supportive, have a safe trip home.

Hope everyone is having a good Sunday.

Took the family out for lunch, dh contributed £40 in the end so cost me less than planned which will help offset yesterday’s overspending. Did a bit of very light gardening but not much. Very tired now so I’m having a sit and a read.
Sea love the gingerbread dinosaurs, sorry your visit didn’t work out as planned.

mammymammyIRL · 11/03/2018 18:08

Life second last time I purchased a car I was considering cmax. They're fab and majorly roomy

Seacow those Dinosaurs are a work of art, sorry trip to museum didn't work out as planned.

Wolf great stuff about contribution from dh

€1.30 on pack of keoghs cheese & onion
€27.50 on diesel on fuel card, just wanted to see what trip home is costing in diesel so approx €30 as I wasn't home when I refuelled
Dc bought their own sweeties from money my aunt gave them
€1.50 on church collection & lighting a candle this morning.

Wigwigeconomist · 11/03/2018 19:25

seacow those dinosaurs look great!

No spend day for me today- so far!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/03/2018 19:34

Hi all just checking in, been a busy wend working, stopped at mums last night which was nice.

Don't think I've spent anything this wend 😇

fluffy sorry to hear your dh was being a dick, hope he has been better behaved today.

need likewise, you are so much more patient than I would be!!

Well done mammy on telling people, you are doing so well.

Happy first mothers day em

laska are you 100% sure the bone isn't still lodged in your throat? It might be worth an a&e trip to double check...

seacow that sounds stressful, my dd hasnt got ASD (afaik, does have SPD tho) and has had had some epic meltdowns in public, one particularly spectacular meltdown was at my brothers wedding 😲 was horrendous. She was 5yo at the time and just couldn't cope with it at all. Anyway what I'm trying to say is, I do have some understanding of how difficult it is and you really are an inspiration in how well you manage.

Laska5772 · 11/03/2018 19:47

girlie .its v sore but I have eaten some mashed potato and veg bake AM swallowing ok but yes hurts, i think its probably only lacerated a bit .. but if it is still there is lodged in a 'corner' I reckon...

Frighten me. what would they do in A&E if i went? there is only one hospital for all island though and of course tremendously busy .Would nurse practitioner be an option at GP? I hardly ever go to doc , in fact last time they said it had been 8 years since previous visit !

Laska5772 · 11/03/2018 19:48

i also found some Tyrozets in the bathroom cabinet ,that did numb it for a while ..

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/03/2018 20:02

Try drinking ice cold water and some ibuprofen. What does nhs direct say about fish bones? It must be quite common.

Moanranger · 11/03/2018 20:02

Happy MD to any Frugaleers that are mums! It sort of passed me by. DD in Morocco, so texted me. DS did nothing, but bear in mind that I am the “bad mummy” who forgot his 18th Bday! My DP was surprised that I was chill, but in his family, any opportunity to sulk was fully exploited. I cannot be bothered. Went bird watching & saw many wonderful Avians- lovely day & NSD.

LonelyOversharer · 11/03/2018 20:03

Just back from tea at my sisters. Exhausted. The cake was too hot to fill (as I didn't get up early enough to do it in time), so had to do it there. Lemon sponge with h/m blueberry jam and cream.

The dc have been super today. Dd2 and 3 just told me that their present was to not fight all day Grin - best gift ever!

Spends £3 milk and biccys, 50p air for tyres, and £8 on a lego elves set on ebay which dd3 scraped the face off the boy elf (by accident). It was on her birthday list.

Well done seacow I know in your place I'd never step out of our comfort zone, so kudos, even though it is hard. Never tried a 3d biscuit. I might borrow some of my sisters many cutter sets.
