Sea f&C's being delivered ..... I am genuinely shocked. How does that work - they must have dozens of runners to do the deliveries.

Fluffy hehehe re the husband crèche. It is so true. We have all sorts of things that would be "useful"

I have had a LSD.... Would have been a NSD but I had to catch the bus because the car was snowed in.

ChristmasSeacow · 12/02/2018 20:05

Ha ha Unescorted, I know. It’s not actually the chippy’s own delivery service. We have a delivery service called Deliveroo here which is an independent service that restaurants can partner with (it started in Central London I think, now spread to the ‘burbs). So you can order through Deliveroo website /app from a range of local independent /chain restaurants and the Deliveroo people bring it. It’s really handy as fish n chips is something i’d never make at home (unlike curry etc) so it’s our most common takeaway choice, though still not very frequent. And the nice chippy place has no parking so DH always used to moan and need cajoling.

Spicy salmon laksa tonight. Mmmm.

WreckTangled · 12/02/2018 20:08

£25 for ds swimming lesson

Wolfcub · 12/02/2018 20:08

Evening all. Had a good discussion with a colleague re the relative merit of current dept vs MCLHG. Thank you to whoever mentioned sky garden tickets, I managed to get some for our half term trip next week. Dh is talking about only being able to eat McDonald’s but getting a taxi home from the station - I think his priorities are backwards.
Expenses put in so that’s about £70 back to me by the end of the week. Can claim back tonight’s dinner but not lunch and the two bottles of wine with a colleague.

In my jammies in bed with a glass of wine watching police interceptors. Classy!

ememem84 · 12/02/2018 20:10

Things I’m grateful for today:

Home made apple pie (dms)
Ds giggling about something - admittedly the “something” was a poo explosion but as I was changing him and found the suprise he chuckled!
Sunshine

WreckTangled · 12/02/2018 20:35

Eugh. My fixed electricity tariff is coming to an end. Need to sort something out for that.

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2018 20:44

We went to Beamish and it was freezing (large open air museum in the North East)

Which police interceptor is it. We usually watch Durham and Cleveland and Yorkshire as they are our local forces.

Top up shop of fruit tomorrow. Dd not well again. I let her go swimming too soon although she insisted I should have insisted more. Sigh.

WreckTangled · 12/02/2018 20:44

We love police interceptors

Laska5772 · 12/02/2018 20:44

got £40 cash out but didnt spend any of that ,but ill need to tomorrow ..

Things I am grateful for today

Coming home to lovely warm house (I've stared leaving the heating on low instead of timed as fed up with coming home to icy house)
Eating frozen blueberries out of a bowl still a bit frozen. (yum)
Not putting on any weight after my weekend 'off ' the diet

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2018 20:46

It's shrove Tuesday tomorrow.
Pancakes Envy

Wolfcub · 12/02/2018 20:51

Life. Same. I love Spike. They were round our way the other week, I’ve been looking out for them since

lifelongfrugaleer · 12/02/2018 20:55

Oh you must be relatively near me wolf.
I say relatively as the frugaleers are flung all around UK and beyond

FadingSomewhereInHollywood · 12/02/2018 21:03

Ooh I love Beamish! Not been in years. Hope you had fun Smile I love he Durham Police Interceptors too, nice to hear some northern accents - makes me feel a bit closer to home!

LSD today - my turn to get milk for work (a grand total of 94p) plus tube fare into the office.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/02/2018 21:08

Loving the gratitude 😊 I am grateful for lots of general things, having a lovely supportive family, a beautiful daughter, a lovely home and garden, and a body that works well most of the time! I am also grateful to do a job that I enjoy and have colleagues that I get on with. Today I'm grateful for a good friend who looked after dd while I worked and the bag of mini eggs I just ate 😂

Have sorted a load of stuff to take to the charity shop tomos.

sescow happy belated birthday, fwiw I don't think it's unreasonable to be disappointed in your dh, a little bit of thought goes a long way.

Nsd.

Laska5772 · 12/02/2018 21:12

Seacow I agree, good that you had a lovely brunch with your dsis's.
hope you are feeling a bit better ..and happy birthday

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/02/2018 21:45

Still haven’t had anything about the job although my friend says I should hear tomorrow. Slightly concerned that they might be interviewing still and there won’t be anything for me if someone will work for less Sad

But, if nothing comes of it, I guess I now know what I want from a job but it appears I am picky too Confused. I feel very miserable at the thought of continuing with my current commute and need a get out of jail plan.

£20 in Pizza Hut
£41 Ocado

Grateful for:
Nice lunch/family time
Cuddles with DD1 this morning
Hearing DD2’s communication improving everyday

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/02/2018 21:46

I don’t regret turning down the original job and salary as I know I should earn more than that.

ChristmasSeacow · 12/02/2018 21:54

I am fine thanks! I don’t do passive-aggressive so no sulking here, and no crap atmospheres. Better not to wallow I find, I get over things much more quickly. He’s a good chap really, just no inagination 🙄. And hurrah for sisters, mine are such good company as we have lots in common. DH and the dcs came with us for brunch and then he took the restless kids home so we could stay for ages and gossip and eat cake right after breakfast DS was so thrilled with his first ever waffle too, it was cute.

I am looking forward to pancakes tomorrow. DS will be in heaven!

northender · 12/02/2018 22:02

Duchess we buy food from a mix of shops, aldi for most staples and most fruit & veg, Booths (smallish naice north west supermarket) for Longley Farm dairy products, green giant sweet corn and a few other things, local butcher or farm shop for meat, fishmonger for fresh fish. I'm a farmer's daughter so buying local, good quality meat is important to me and actually not much more expensive, if at all, than supermarket meat. We buy British food where possible. I know we could cut costs more if we had to, but at the moment we are okay. We throw very little food away & I relish the challenge of using up leftovers.
Lots of poorly frugaleers and mini frugaleers out there. Hope you feel better soon.

Tayto ds is away for a week, Seacow yes he's keeping in touch via whatsapp. He's had a great time so far & was in the team for today (still playing) so we'll get a report later. Disappointingly they are going to miss the main Carnival procession as there has been a major Isis terror alert.

Spends today £15 pasties and drinks for lunch, £5 car parking, £4 fabric to add to my stash, now I just need a design to start on... Dh took dd up to the top of the lighthouse which she really enjoyed, good for her to have some time with us without ds around. Dh going to football tomorrow night, dd, mil and I are going to see The Greatest Showman.

Unescorted · 12/02/2018 22:03

Delivroo do in town but they would have to be Chris Hoy to get the chips here before they went soggy.

Laska I am getting motorhome envy.... We took a long trip (9 months) when the kids were little. I miss our van.

Cagliostro · 12/02/2018 23:55

Grateful for:
Lovely lovely DH who got me through a crap morning and just accepted the utter mess that awaited him after work 😳
Amazing box of beautiful 3-6m clothes arriving from a certain mumsnetter 💐💐💐 and don’t worry they arrived at the perfect time! 😘
Fantastic taekwondo teacher. I’m really in awe of his teaching, the lessons are fab and the Caglets learn loads ⭐️Was very proud of DD today, she won all her sparring ⭐️

Have ordered Tesco for tomorrow, still need to sort out Asda and Sainsbury’s order, possibly a couple of bits in mothercare too as I can collect from the store in my hometown when we see mum. Spendy times.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/02/2018 06:24

I forgot about the £419 for Easter as dh took the call Blush

WreckTangled · 13/02/2018 07:18

Argh I've woken up with an awful headache

ememem84 · 13/02/2018 08:12

Hope everyone is feeling better and has better days today. Even if yesterday was a good’un Have a better one!

#cheery #someonehadagreatsleep

It is chucking down with rain here today. So maybe an indoors day. My gigantor laundry bags arrived yesterday so I might start packing things in them. We’ve got a summer duvet and towels we can pack away as well as blankets etc.

I need to speak to Dm too as I know she has an absolute load (technical term is a shit-ton) of my stuff in her loft. All stuff ranging from when I was a kid to my going to uni to moving home and out again. Which she’s said is coming to me once we move great I want to know what’s up there. So must ask her and start that declutter. Maybe when we live there though......

Will have to make a trip to the shop today as need milk.

SnugglySnerd · 13/02/2018 08:15

Pancake day! Hooray! Just realised Tesco order is coming tonight but we need lemons for pancakes and ice cream and chocolate sauce so I might have to nip to the shops. I say nip, it will take 20 mins to get everyone in the car!
