I didn’t refresh before posting earlier and missed lots of chat!

Cag I bought my oaperchase travel card holder 13 years ago and it’s still going strong! You have motivated me to call Nectar about my card too.

Good result Need

North I hope your boy makes it to Trinidad. It’s a wonderful country and lots of sunshine =vitamin D. If he goes can he take rest days if he needs them?

Lonely I honestly think you have to get the skip. You are going to be at home more and all that stuff will really depress you if you can’t get rid. You will feel much lighter once it’s gone.

I’ve never seen that sketch Laska I’ll look it up.

I love that Filofax Tayto

Cagliostro · 03/02/2018 19:09

Does anyone know if Tiger stores have no permanent stock at all? I know most of it is temporary but I thought they had some regular stuff. I need to add to my supplies of blank find the pair cards. I don’t have enough for a game I’m making for the Caglets.

DD is loving the Friends episode where Rachel buys a hairless cat. “Why is your cat in one of my bowls?” “It’s not, I’m defrosting a chicken” 😂

Have seen the most amazing coding toy I am tempted to get for next Christmas (as it’s $65+ so not a ‘just because’ type thing)

Cagliostro · 03/02/2018 19:12

Ooh thanks seacow that’s great hopefully this one will last too then. The original plan was to get plastic ones from HMV as they used to do stuff like Pokemon, Harry Potter etc but they’ve stopped doing them and they probably wouldn’t have cost much less in the end despite being quite flimsy.

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/02/2018 19:14

Cag
I love that you are excited about buspass holdersGrin
I would be too and thats a gorgeous filofax Tayto
I got a pass holders yonks ago in Selfridges and its carefully stashed in my "London" bag ( cross body zip close) with my topped up Oyster .
I love a trip to London .
I was locked out of my Nectar account Confused so now unlocked and new fob cards on their way.
Need to remind myself to check Nectar each time I shop online as lots of retailers I use online are linked.

QuiteCleanBandit · 03/02/2018 19:16

If you post a pic Cag I can look next time Im in town

mammymammyIRL · 03/02/2018 19:32

Fluffy dh thinks you're amazing, he loves the spin dryer, as do dc because I read instructions & it says children 8 years & up can use it, dd is 8 in April, they're fascinated with the novelty of it right now.

Cag you've got a soup maker don't you?
I think that'll be my next big purchase, need a Littlewoods code first though.

DD's wardrobe replenish €92 (had €80 in vouchers)
€20 odd in Aldi
€12 haircut ds
€860 odd on wood pellet delivery precharged to my cc, will get some cash rewards on this, money is saved but didn't expect to need it until April. CC text me to call them for approval as transaction was so unusually high. I like this.

NorbertTheDragon · 03/02/2018 19:38

Well I haven't been very frugal this week, so I've started today noting down my spends in my lovely little Hufflepuff notebook.

£113 today.Shock Bloody kids with their huge feet! One of my twins needed new school shoes and fencing shoes. Also had brunch in town after doing parkrun, and bought lunch for the DT's after their music lesson. £15 on a tin of paint as I'm going to start decorating.

Then got home to find the other twin needs new school shoes too! They'll have to last him the week, then it's half term.

Also spoke to ex-h and he is going to start paying child maintenance now he's started his new job. He said he'll pay more than the government website says, so that'll be good. Shoes all round! Grin

I don't use my nectar card anymore as I rarely go to Sainsbury's even though it's the nearest supermarket. I use Morrisons, and already have £10 on my card since Christmas. I'll save it up for this Christmas. I've also got £42 on my co-op card which I'll use for our holiday at Easter as there's a co-op close to the caravan park.

Well done on getting your printer sorted Laska. I still need to phone up to sort out mine, something about instant ink not working properly. I hate making phone calls, and I hate printers, so not looking forward to that one. Probably why I've put it off for so long!

Cagliostro · 03/02/2018 20:34

Yay so glad XH is being reasonable about the CM.

Is the Morrison’s card good then? I’m sticking with Tesco for general shopping but it’s so easy to go to any of the other big shops if we need anything, I’ve decided this year to just get loyalty cards for everywhere I shop, even if I only get a quid per year it’s still savings. I will need another card holder to put them all in though 😂😂😂

Cagletini is merrily chewing on her big sisters’s thumb. I have a feeling weaning will go well when we get to that stage. 🤔

Ooh thank you quite I never know where the Tiger shops are but none near here. Pic attached! 💐

First Frugalling month of 2018 almost done , so Forging forward into Feb we go
Cagliostro · 03/02/2018 20:39

Also I discovered I have £5.88 left on my nectar card from goodness knows when 😂

I also found my credit card. Need to pop into the bank to sort that, basically I didn’t use it for ages and they wrote saying they’d cancel it, but it’s still on my NatWest app. The card itself expired and they never sent a new one. I don’t need a card but an aim for once I’m more organised (hollow laugh) is to start using it and paying off immediately for the credit rating. No idea what mine is. Also to then switch to a different card for cashback etc.

MeadowHay · 03/02/2018 21:14

Lonely Yes, DH cleaned the filter and drained the water out last night when it wasn't draining - the same thing happened about a month ago and once we did that, it started working fine again, but this time it still won't drain all the water out of the drum even once we've done that, so I can only think there's something wrong with the machine that won't let the water drain out of the drum into the bit where you drain it out, or possibly a plumbing problem? I don't know Confused. Going to my parents' tomorrow to do a load or two of washing.

I don't have a bus pass holder, never thought of getting one, just keep it in my wallet. I feel like I've been missing out now Grin.

Ordered DH's valentines card through an offer on Wuntu, with the code you can order a valentines day card within the next 3 days from Thortful for free, just have to pay the 65p postage. I have picked a funny, NSFW one which I think he will be surprised by but appreciate Grin. So that's frugal.

Also did an online shop at Asda which was about £70, will be arriving Wednesday evening as first time I could get a £1 delivery slot. Stocked up on chocolate as I am wanting to eat lots of chocolate atm Blush.

Tayto Love the filofax!

lifelongfrugaleer · 03/02/2018 21:21

£36 afternoon tea, £17 next, lots on cocktails so sightly squiffy as I don't drink as a rule. £7 taxi home.

All frugal thoughts and calories/macros or the window.

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/02/2018 21:59

Thank you Mammy. Spin dryers are the future. I shall tell Dh other men appreciate my spin dryer advice.

Try running the hottest cycle on empty Meadow, fabric softener and detergant have oils/fats in them. They can clog if you use low temperatures. There's usually a 95c white cotton cycle.

Cag You are getting organised. You've done your bus pass, your tax return, nectar card & a club S/O in the last two weeks.

£20 meal out. It was ok. Best part of the evening was seeing a muntjac family grazing on the way out.

ememem84 · 03/02/2018 22:29

LOVELY FILOFAX

Mines purple with birds on it. I always buy a diary insert and forget to use it. So haven’t this year.

tayto as we were looking I realised there were not qdiators so assumed underfloor beating but couldn’t see any control deelys. So asked the agent who went and asked the vendor (who was outside). She said she didn’t like central heating. So had taken it out.

I’ve done bugger all this afternoon. I’ve watched a couple more episodes of dark. Have made Moroccan fish stew for dinner. Bathed ds. He chose bathtime to grab his feet for the first time. Ffs. Why chose to do something like that when you’re slippery!!

Just started Fargo season 3. Love this show.

ememem84 · 03/02/2018 22:32

Feel unique sent me an email about their offers. I have resisted a dior eyeshadow pallet. A dior mascara (my fave plum one) and some new shampoo.

I need none of it. I may treat myself to the mascara on my first payday back at work. Or may just buy it with my boots points....but I don’t need it. It won’t make me any happier.

In bed now. Catface has snuggled up with me. Yay

Cagliostro · 04/02/2018 03:34

Aw thanks fluffy my to do list is gradually getting shorter :o

Liking all the washing machine advice too thanks, I’ll try everything as despite being new in October ours smells a bit funny sometimes and I’ve been careful to wipe out the seal frequently, DH cleans the drawer often too but we haven’t done the filter. I use 90 for towels, but I could do an empty one as well. Used a cleaning solution thingy the other week but that said to use at 60 I think.

Been up with baby coughing her little heart out, she coughed so much she puked (very unusual for her, she’s not sicky) and there was loads of phlegm in it :( forgot how worrying babies are Hmm doesn’t seem to bother her in the day but it’s an alarming sound in the middle of the night. No fever. Might go into town to get vicks or something.

SnugglySnerd · 04/02/2018 06:20

Aw poor thing Cag. It's horrible when they are poorly.

Kept trying to catch up yesterday but every time I got half way through writing a post there was some sort of interruption. Yesterday was a bit spendy though as I hadtea out with dd1 as a special treat for her.

Today should be NSD.

WreckTangled · 04/02/2018 07:18

Yesterday nsd. Today should be nsd. We're going to my aunts for breakfast which will be nice.

SunnyLikeThursday · 04/02/2018 08:05

I just noticed that the Regatta outlet shop, which is a great place for getting coats, and very cheap, is having a closing down sale today and tomorrow, so even cheaper than usual.

www.regattaoutlet.co.uk/

LonelyOversharer · 04/02/2018 08:20

I'm up early for a sunday! Going to get a bit of work done before the house stirs.

I spent £59 on some clarks black funny dreams for dd1 for school. Her slip on ballet flats are knackered (only new in september) even though they are hush puppies. Sigh. ((Dd2 needs new school shoes too. She wants 3 hole dm's. Min £100 there, but at least they will last)). But I used tcb, got 5% and paid with paypal, so not out of my bank account, and free delivery into store next week.

My yarn sold for £166!!!! And all with £10+ postage on (v heavy needs courier). Thats more than I paid for it 7-8 years ago. Its all paid for too, so need to pop to my storage unit to collect it, go to my sisters for packing boxes, and organise courier collection for tomorrow.

ememem84 · 04/02/2018 08:29

sunny I was hoping I’d find some waterproofs there. Can’t see any though.

Hoping for nsd today.

cag poor dd. It’s so worrying isn’t it? But it’s good if it doesn’t seem to be bothering her too much!

Ds has learned to grab his feet/legs. 😀👶🏻💙

northender · 04/02/2018 08:32

I share the love of spin dryers, but ours was in the garage and ds left it on for a little bit too long and the engine burned out Angry. Haven't replaced it yet but we will do as we did love it.

ShoopShoop · 04/02/2018 08:35

NSD yesterday (apart from Ocado!), and hoping for another one today. We're all full of cold and so staying in for a crafty / Lego filled day.

Funnily enough Em and Wreck I just finished watching 13 Reasons Why this week - I downloaded it onto my phone on the Netflix app to watch on my way home on the train. Made me quite terrified for when DD hits the teenage years.

DH finally got round to sorting the Sky subscription by threatening to leave so that's £38 a month saved from the joint account which is great. Apparently we lost some channels but I haven't figured out which ones yet so that's good!

Can't wait for payday - I get paid on 15th. As well as the car allowance which hasn't been paid to me, I discovered my tax code was wrong so should have more coming back to me from that too. Think I should be able to get rid of one store card and one CC but looking forward to seeing exactly how much I've got to play with.

Cag - sorry you've got a poorly DD. Sad

Fluffy - you've reminded me to get the bread maker out again. We tend to use it in fits and starts but always enjoy the bread that it produces.

ShoopShoop · 04/02/2018 08:35

Oops - that was a bit long! Sorry! Blush

ememem84 · 04/02/2018 08:48

shoop we enjoyed it, although we did think the girl (Hannah?) was super annoying and we were willing her to do it at the end.... pretty sure that’s not a spoiler.

I am excited. Super Bowl Sunday today!!!! I usually manage to stay up until the halftime show. I think Justin timberlake is performing this year.

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/02/2018 08:53

Shoop That would be brilliant to get another two cards paid off so quickly.

North I'm buying a 6kg one when this one breaks down. eBay do them. I think they're 3200rpm not 2800rpm.

Lonely, that pays for most of your skip doesn't it?. I'd email hush puppies CEO and have a moan about those shoes. They shouldn't have worn out in 4 months. It's not a fashion brand, they trade on being comfy but long lasting. www.ceoemail.com/s.php?id=ceo-6272017.

If anyone buys NHS prescription pre-payment certificates there's cashback on them via chemist direct on topcashback.
