cag that's brilliant about that author Grin
laska getting any returns on savings is very difficult right now, fingers crossed for you next week, and nice to get offered job even if you don't actually want it.

There's a Irish author Sarah something that brought out a declutter/organise your life book this week too. Think I'll reread Marie Kondo and get moving on it again.

I'll have no car on Sat so I'll have to stay home for most of it so should get stuff cleared out a bit

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/01/2018 16:34

Thanks need will have a look at that sauce, dd and I are def in a bit of a food rut and neither of us are very good at trying new foods.

Dd had a routine ent appointment this afternoon and unfortunately her hearing has got worse 😣 the consultant said she should wear her hearing aid at school

Any way parking £3.90, coffee and cake after the appointment £3.50. Decided to get dd a new clarinet sling, she lost her old one last term 😬 £17.50!!! Have told her if she loses this one she will be buying the next one.

WreckTangled · 11/01/2018 16:41

Girlie I didn't know dd had hearing problems?

We're having a quick toast stop before swimming. I was really good today and popped back into the office for a cup of coffee rather than buying one Halo

I'm going to go to this:

Estate agent came round. And said he’d put his place on the market for £7k higher than April last year. Hoorah.

laksa there was an article on radio 4 the other day about death cleaning. Interesting but makes sense. I dread when my parents either go, or have to leave their house - the loft is packed....

I am on a declutter mission. Tomorrow I am dropping things at the charity shop, taking cardboard to the recycling and am going to eBay like a motherf*er 😂

Watching the truth about beauty. I watched half last night then fell asleep. I want more make up now!

Nsd today. Picked up some bedding I’d ordered before Christmas. Hoorah.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/01/2018 17:24

Welcome Hugh Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/01/2018 17:38

Quiet Credit Crunch.

I'm also easy to find on the cat section.

mammymammyIRL · 11/01/2018 17:44

Wreck would love to hear the key points of that talk. Groupon had a course but it was aimed at understanding children in puberty as they become young adults

WreckTangled · 11/01/2018 17:50

I will let you know mammy. Although I might need the puberty one soon too as dd(7) appears to have breast buds Shock not ready for that!!

LonelyOversharer · 11/01/2018 18:02

Well my beautiful bullet journal has arrived, and I'm a bit loathed to write in it! I think I'll start with habit, declutter and daily cleaning jobs pages. Then spends, savings, credit cards and then the day to day diary bits. I also got a load of peg doll blanks, which I am planning to turn into fairies and pixies and cute things to sell. Cost £17.99 (50 tiny, 10 much bigger) so will see how much I can make from them.

A nsd for me, yay! But dp did have to do an extra run to our old shop (20 miles of fuel used), as dp needed a 7mm allen key...at least we had one (and he found it) so didn't need to rebuy. One of our customers turned up to talk to dp when he was out, and I stood on the step (in my pj's sans bra, never looked so glam Blush) outside as I realised in that moment I was too ashamed to let him in. I have to do something really proper about this house if we get people stopping by.

How annoying about having people you know reading about you. It makes me a bit cross, then go doh! It's a public internet forum! But sometimes I forget

Oh girlie how did your dd take the news? Being in big school is tough enough as it is.

QuiteCleanBandit · 11/01/2018 18:29

Haha Laska
I have been Swedish Death Cleaning for the past few months without even knowing it Grin
Books, yarn and posh makeup sorted but lots kept, but all tidy and in its place.Over half of clothes went to the Charidy shop.
Just waiting for death now Grin
Seriously its lovely to have a place for everything and everything in its place.

Lonely
I knew that this persongossip houndis on MN so not surprised. They accidently slipped up and mentioned something so Ive NC and will stay off that area of MN for a while.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/01/2018 18:34

Yes she has had hearing problems due to glue ear since she was a toddler Wreck Sad she now has what they call sensory hearing loss due to the constant infections she had. I know Lonely she seemed to take it o.kay but as she is struggling socially already I can't see how this is going to help. Life isn't fair sometimes is it.

Wreck that is young! I think dd was more like 9yo before I started to notice anything changing, am waiting for dd to start her periods now Shock don't think we are far off, they grow up so quick.

WreckTangled · 11/01/2018 18:38

Girlie my friends dd has just had some grommets put in that last five years because they've diagnosed a long term hearing loss now.

It is young Sad quite sad really

Wolfcub · 11/01/2018 18:52

Girlie poor dd that’s really hard news

Ds has band tonight so bit of a rush tea, chicken breasts baked in Nando’s bbq dry rub, mash (frozen) with leeks topped with crispy onion and fried halloumi. Weird but it kind of worked and it didn’t cost anything extra.
£3 band subs

Cagliostro · 11/01/2018 18:52

I have to go bra shopping with DD soon 😱 can't quite believe it. Not sure how she will manage as many of her sensory issues relate to clothing and texture so straps may be an issue! She needs new undies too. Girlie shipping trip required!

I also need to declutter their clothes, hoping not to need to buy anything this time as they do have plenty, although DS goes through trousers at a rate of knots. They keep bloody growing too, it's just rude :o DD's new tap shoes are size five!!! She's skinny and only slightly taller than average, but evidently has big feet. Thankfully my mum had ballroom shoes spare as adult sizes are £££

Wreck that workshop looks ace, I'd go if it weren't for the peak time travel (not just to stalk you 😂). We've been referred to a sensory issues parent workshop by the OT. BTW my boobs didn't actually object to the longer sleep, I think they like sleep as much as I do as I only get that weird prickly feeling during the day.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 11/01/2018 18:59

Cag the workshop is actually near midhurst so would be a pain to get to but it might be worth googling the charity as they might have one nearer you? I sometimes still get that weird prickly feeling now, only very rarely but it's so weird!

Cagliostro · 11/01/2018 19:07

Will that be the first time she's worn hearing aids? Hopefully she will adjust quickly. It may help her socially if hearing is improved (not missing things) and it'll definitely be better academically if she's not struggling to hear.

Spends
£158 bus passes - that's both Caglets for 13 weeks, will only need to pay extra if we go out of county
£2.50 lychees!!! DD spotted them at the market and we have an agreement to always get them when we see them as they pop up so rarely. Best fruit ever.
£5.35 Costa, I waited there feeding while the others went to the dance shop. The brownie was not worth it and I'll stick to small hot chocolate in future.
£1.80 drink at the pub, DH paid for dinner. He also got the tap shoes which were only £21, and travel which was £20ish.
£1 poundworld for one of those saving tins you open with a can opener. Going to save as much of the cash from our teaching sessions as we can, but I know if we put it in our cash box we'd just keep using it.
60p tuck (back to earning it with spelling tests this week)

DD tried some Caring Cutlery at therapy and loved it, she can't use regular stuff properly at all bless her. So will be buying some.

Also decided I might use some of my Amazon gift card to buy iTunes vouchers - there's loads of apps I'd like so it'd be a nice use of Christmas money as it always feels a bit frivolous! I haven't spent any of my Christmas money so far. Normally it'd be burning a hole in my pocket.

Cagliostro · 11/01/2018 19:10

Thanks wreck will do! Luckily the anxiety isn't nearly such an issue now since we ditched the bully, and sorted her sleep issue. But I do think she will always be an anxious type IYSWIM

WreckTangled · 11/01/2018 19:12

Ooo cag dd can't use cutlery very well (she can't cut her own food up) do you think they would be good for her?

Unescorted · 11/01/2018 19:26

cag thanks for the thread. And thanks to all the joy sharing from you all. Good news is even better if other people think so too.

I noticed a few new people pop up - welcome to the best part of the forum. Hi again to our well made up friend. I now work on the assumption that I am painting what I post on the side of a bus. Just not as interesting as the new movie releases.

I have just started a bullet journal - it is great for my work things and I could wish a colleague happy birthday (which got me loads of goodwill points). I haven't got it to work successfully for home things. Possibly because I put good intentions in there and am always knackered when I get home so they never get done and I feel bad.

£11 in Aldi today. Pay day is Monday and it cannot come fast enough.

Loveabaconsandwich · 11/01/2018 19:33

I often wonder if one of you is someone I work with or if they are a lurker as this thread would be there kind of ‘thing’

My parents have recently cleared their loft in preparation for when they die.

Anyway, not been the best couple of days. Had a rubbish day yesterday when something came to light at work that I should have been dealing with that was sent my way when I was suffering from stress last year. So came home and ate half a tub of Ben &jerry (classic emotional eater here). Then spent the evening with DP talking about his work issues and if things don’t change there then he needs to find something else Sad

Then just before I went to bed I read an email my mum had sent earlier telling me my dad’s endoscopy that day had found a lump. And the doctor told him it was highly likely cancer. And he had to go back for an urgent CT scan today. Now waiting further results Sad

Ahh! Sorry for the self indulgent moan Blush

AuditAngel · 11/01/2018 19:39

NSD do far today, I've still not done the good shop.

But DD2 has finally got her wobbly tooth out (after 15 months) and the adult tooth growing in behind it. I've never seen such a long root. So, tooth fairy money to come later. It is nit ally £2 here, but this one has been really painful, so we are thinking £5

WreckTangled · 11/01/2018 19:45

Love sorry you're having a shit time

Cagliostro · 11/01/2018 19:46

Oh love that is a proper shit day I'm sorry :( Thanks

OP posts:
Unescorted · 11/01/2018 19:48

love that is a truly pants day. The not knowing is awful - the last couple of weeks taught me that. A good news story for you - my mum was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer 2 years ago. It was in a really awkward place so they couldn't operate to reduce the size of the tumour. However a course of chemotherapy and radiotherapy has zapped it. She has been cancer free for over 12 months. Treatment has come a long way. More cancers are cured than not.

Annwithnoe · 11/01/2018 19:49

Laska we love our motorhome and it has been the best thing we ever bought. When we head off for a weekend we usually spend less than when we’re at home, because we’d splurge on a takeaway, go for coffee or take the kids somewhere or make the costly mistake of nipping in to ikea to pick up one candle Shock

There’s a lot to be said for Swedish death cleaning! I had to clear out a relatives house last year and it lit a fire under me to declutter my own. Honestly, I would hate to burden anyone with that task. The relative in question had long gone past the point of being able to manage any major jobs and I was happy to do that but it was emotionally hard, as well as being physically hard work.

girlie it’s hard on them at that age to have anything different about them but I was going to make the same point about better hearing might actually help socially. DD is still young enough to covet glasses, eyepatches and even a wheelchair because in her eyes these are cool things her friends have. But it gets so fraught as they get older.

Inspired to make some hidden veg sauce. I used to make it when dc were small but have relied on jars for the last while. I’ll have to experiment a bit because DS1 is super fussy and if he decides he doesn’t like a food it’s hard work to get it back.
