Itis6oclocksomewhere Are you okay?

Another NSD here ⭐️

Littlechocola · 27/01/2018 02:42

Just realised that working nights helps enormously though Grin

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 27/01/2018 08:13

Littlechocola
I'm ok, thank you for asking Smile.
The wing mirror is badly broken though. The pheasant sort of flew up and banged his head on the underneath. The whole thing then just bust apart.
Although having NSD means getting it fixed isn't as eye watering as it may have been in the past!

ivykaty44 · 27/01/2018 08:16

I’ve just had through my banks free offers and I’m picking 6 cinema tickets 🌟

OP posts:
ivykaty44 · 27/01/2018 08:21

Also found a couple of free talks and concerts- so may book for them later in the year.

Making plans for March as we were offered the use of a cottage for free if ever we wanted - so would make for an inexpensive weekend away.

The NSD has certainly got me looking at ways of still going out but not spending lots of money just for the sake of it

PirateYellowbelly · 27/01/2018 10:13

Ivy which bank gives you offers like that? Sounds fab. Spending a weekend with family and hoping for minimal spending.

fleaflyflo · 27/01/2018 10:19

Think it might be a tad late for me to join Grin

FaithEverPresent · 27/01/2018 10:56

fleaflyflo many of us are continuing on for February so join us!

I am taking DD to the cinema today. Odeon so Shock at the price but I’ll take snacks in my bag rather than buy there. It’s something she really wants to see and I’d rather her have a positive experience than buy her material stuff. I’m parking at a friend’s house so I don’t have to pay Smile

drspouse · 27/01/2018 14:30

Cinema here too - one box of popcorn between 4, doled out in Asda popcorn boxes! But still £££.

PirateYellowbelly · 27/01/2018 16:22

So the intended NSD turned into spending over £40 in Nando's and £88 in Dunelm buying new curtains and light shades for our newly decorated hall and landing.

ivykaty44 · 27/01/2018 16:53

May west are offering money to change about £100 so you just need account with two DD set up

Then once NatWest pay out change that to HSBC who are paying £150

You need to set up a SO for the minimum amounts to go from your current account into the money making one to get the deal

Keep the HSBC one for a year and get more money

Some have regular savers linked to them so you can save and get a good rate 5% of interest which on £250 a month is £90 for the year

M&S are doing one

Check out terms and conditions and keep moving your one fake account

But not if your looking at getting a loan in the next 6 months as it wobbles your credit rating for a few months

Can I join in for February please?

I've been pretty good this month - I take breakfast, snack, lunch and coffee with me to work which saves a lot. I used to keep nipping to the shop at lunchtime or before work, and it mounts up a lot!

I've been to the cinema twice and out to lunch once, plus I catered for a family birthday, although that only cost £20 as I made it all myself!

I've also stopped paying for car parking spaces when I go into the city - I've found a number of places to park for free. Some of these spots mean that I have to walk for 10-15 minutes, which of course is a good thing for me to be doing!

Of course there have been unforseen expenses - the biggest being a new tyre. £90! Shock

I don't earn much and although financially I am fine as my DH earns a high salary, (plus we have inherited a lot) I want to get out of the habit of wasting money and buying things that I just don't need.

AdoraBell · 27/01/2018 20:33

£6 ish on treating DH to coffee and cake for his birthday. Also bought his present, but that was planned and budgeted for.

Well done on the cost trimmings chicken 👍 shame about the tyre though.

totallyLosingIt · 27/01/2018 21:40

Another NSD for me today, but already planning lunch out tomorrow. I promised it to DH after he paid for an (expensive) meal out a few weeks ago. I'm more conscious of it though, if that makes sense! Last month I would have gone out for lunch and not thought anything of it... planning on really trying to get him to have just soup

ivykaty44 · 27/01/2018 22:59

Spent £6 on coffee out today 😳

And £5 for charity this morning 😳

OP posts:
Littlechocola · 28/01/2018 02:54

£75 diesel but it will last around 3 weeks

chickenowner · 28/01/2018 07:59

Thank you Adora and I know, typical!! I'm telling myself though that the £90 has been more than covered by some clothes and bags that I have sold on ebay this month.

Smile
mamapants · 28/01/2018 08:09

Spent nothing on Fri about twenty yesterday on food/ birthday cards/ book. (found some Xmas money in a drawer so figured the book was OK)
And £56 on diesel.
Was payday Thursday so will be no spend from the start this time so hoping for even more success.
Had some big expenses Jan and Feb so am aiming to keep going as long as possible. Am tentatively thinking of trying for the whole year as low spend as possible.

chickenowner · 28/01/2018 08:17

Mama I'm thinking of trying for a frugal year too. Smile

Gah81 · 28/01/2018 09:43

Well, dinner out with a friend yesterday - long planned. Also food shop for the week but today should be a NSD. Have some work to do but instead of going to a coffee shop have got my Nespresso machine up and running and will put on some favourite music while I sit at my desk.

Definitely in for a frugal year, and attempting it one day/week/month at a time.

Rudeolf · 28/01/2018 09:54

I need the boiler & car servicing & m.o.t. I need to budget for these.

hollytom · 28/01/2018 10:24

A bit spendy yesterday I took my daughter out for lunch and then a film but I added up my spending for the month and it is lower than I thought. I managed to save quite a bit this month and still have money left at the end of the month.
I think the key for me is mindful spending which I am going to carry on now as the older I get I want to get rid of stuff not accumulate more.

MiltonBurnedTheBuildingDown · 28/01/2018 13:19

Hello Everyone,
Been lurking a while so registered to join in. You've all really motivated me!
Had two NSD in a row (other than food, and that was to a meal plan). Son's dinner money is laid out daily for the week, as is DH's travel costs, I need £3 for playgroup on Wednesday. Trying to eek out gas and electric so we don't top up again before payday on Thursday.

Usually spend like a fool, nice to be excited over keeping the rest locked up in my purse. Even DH is all for it after my reading bits out to him.

ivykaty44 · 28/01/2018 17:43

Ok so today I went out....I spent all the money I haven’t spent through the month on one lovely chair 😂

I’m chuffed to bits with it and basically it was instead of lots of random spending on coffees, manicure or perfum and make up that I don’t really need.
