I have my c-section date set today.. 20th December 😱😱 5 weeks and baby is here!

I have a question frugaleers: can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful conditioning hair mask? I used to use Kerastase hair mask once a week but at £30 for a 200ml pot that’s just not happening!!! But my hair is getting really dry so I need to put something on it.

SnugglySnerd · 15/11/2017 16:25

Ooh exciting Hamburgers!

ChristmasSeacow · 15/11/2017 16:48

Hamburgers that's exciting - a baby for Christmas! Re. Hair, mine is very dry and curly when hydrated, frizzy when not. At my latest haircut the hairdresser told me to leave my usual conditioner on when I wash my hair - just don't rinse it out at all. I thought it would feel horrible but it's been a revelation!

WreckTangled · 15/11/2017 16:51

How exciting hamburgers!

Fuming at dds school. I have a thread in chat. Basically school trip and they put her on a booster seat despite me sending a high backed booster in with her AngryAngry

ememem84 · 15/11/2017 16:53

Exciting hamburgers

For hair I sometimes use coconut oil.

WreckTangled · 15/11/2017 17:08

Apparently I’m being very unreasonable HmmGrin maybe I am! I’m quite hot on car seats though...

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/11/2017 17:09

Snuggly Morrisons are really good for online deliveries, I have used them quite a bit. You can pick cheaper delivery times which are normally early morning or late evening, I have only had good experiences and they always turn up on time etc.

Exciting Hamburgers 5 weeks will fly by!!

Had quite a nice day at work, am working with a lovely student who is def more of a help than a hindrance. Need to put some tea on in a mo, feeling uninspired so freezer food it is Wink

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/11/2017 17:11

Haha Wreck I was just thinking that probably isn't something i would get to worked up over but then I am from the generation where it was fun to sit in the boot etc!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/11/2017 17:15

Snugg Waitrose. They really aren't that expensive & I do a top up at Aldi.

This week I needed pitta, tomato, Mayo & eggs for a top up. Although I want another go at home made Mayo so I might not need it after all.

£1.33 pitta & Tom.

lonely How on earth have they not been arrested by customs?.

LonelyOversharer · 15/11/2017 17:24

Had a good chat to my sister, she's facing a huge life change.

£6 postage, £3 sweets. Mince and tatties for tea with dough balls (dumplings for those of us not fae fife), found the mince in the freezer. Out of peas and sausages and almost all freezer stuff (except chicken, theres always so much chicken), so need to shop very soon.

hamburgers having a set date is good for planning! Is your baby breech? sorry nosy No hair help from me I'm afraid, mine is long and fine and errs to greasy if left unattended and I'm crap with hair and makeup

wreck why not if you sent the seat in with her? Just daft not to use it. It's not like it was small enough to get forgotten.

OP posts:
Loveabaconsandwich · 15/11/2017 17:26

Well if you went to the bother of sending in a seat, why didn’t they use it wreck?

I seem to have missed something, where are your parents off to lonely?

Was thinking crazy thoughts about going into work tomorrow. And then a cold kicked in. Will be PJs and hoody in bed, working if I feel up to it now

Loveabaconsandwich · 15/11/2017 17:27

Exciting times hamburgers!

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/11/2017 17:28

Ham

Try the swartzkopf bonacure range. They'll do one for coloured hair.

I use deep conditioner after every wash. I have the one for "aged & fragile hair". It means my silver ones don't stick up like an antenna.

WreckTangled · 15/11/2017 17:47

Car seat safety is really important to me but apparently I’m alone in that GrinGrin my friends dd was allowed to use her high backed booster but my dd wasn’t Angry

LonelyOversharer · 15/11/2017 17:58

Well thats plain stupid wreck not even consistant.

love they're off to visit my aged Grandma to give my auntie a rest. But mum was 70 today. She loved her handbag, phew!

I had to put some fuel in today so wasn’t a nsd. Have done so many miles this week! Also bought some chocolate Blush so spent £11 something

needastrongone · 15/11/2017 18:28

Hamburgers I've got some treatments that I've got in my Birchbox subscription that you would be welcome to, is Wonderbalm, Philip Kingsley and the like. Just pm me if you would be interested.

Hope your sister is okay Lonely.

I am afraid I am with Girlie on the car seat thing. DH would argue to car itself is the most important thing, I suspect a Ford Fiesta would come off worst if it crashed into my car. Who knows.

I liked Morrisons too, but seriously fell out with them when all my Match and More points were invalidated because I didn't use the account for a year. I had a serious amount of points too.

Spends are low.
£24 on Teapigs Christmas gifts x 4 with a £10 discount code and free delivery.
£50 entry fee for Amsterdam marathon next year.

Mates rates £40 for a wall re-plastered/skimmed. I went to school with a bunch of guys who are now all tradesmen. We live in a village. No one ever moves out of the area. It's A Good Thing sometimes. I always have a decent tradesman to hand. The plasterer today was actually my boyfriend for 2 years when I was 16 Grin

ememem84 · 15/11/2017 19:37

I don’t think we have a car seat law here per se. I mean you have to use them for babies but after that I don’t think you have to. We will because safety...

£17 in boots today on nappies vitamins nappy bags and wierd mouthwash for Dm.

£32 Riding. First canter since having ds. Yupper!! 🐎🐎

ememem84 · 15/11/2017 19:37

*yippee!!! Even

SnugglySnerd · 15/11/2017 19:41

Thanks for online shopping thoughts. I think I will try Morrisons as I have never shopped there. Who knows I could be missing out?!

Wreck I'm amazed how many parents I see dropping off at nursery lifting their baby out of a very expensive car seat wearing a thick coat or snow suit. We were told absolutely not to put them in the car seat wearing those as the straps can't support their little bodies enough. I wonder why people spend all that money on car seats and then don't use them properly.

Loveabaconsandwich · 15/11/2017 19:42

Ah, yours and fluffy’s coments made it look they were going off to be international fugitives or something lonely Blush

My 30 free childcare code has arrived! I am soooo relieved because otherwise I couldn’t keep my childcare with my reduction in hours

Sierra259 · 15/11/2017 19:53

Evening! hamburger very exciting about your Christmas baby! Do you know if it's a boy or girl? Sorry you're feeling ill meadow

£33 on DD's after school club. love are you have trouble with the new tax free childcare too? They've been an utter ball ache for us the last few weeks, and it's still not sorted Angry
Oops, forgot. £13 for a "Tea with Santa" thing for DD at one of the local museums.

Getting my Christmas ideas lists ready for Black Friday next week and hoping some of the bits on them are reduced!

hamburgers · 15/11/2017 20:24

Thanks everyone for your lovely thoughts!

@Sierra259 a girl Grin hope to have her home for Christmas Eve

@LonelyOversharer my pregnancy was classified as high risk from the start due to a whole host of complications (had multiple miscarriages before this pregnancy Sad ) so they’ll whip her out at 39 weeks. It’s also the reason I’ve not really been able to work the last few months which hasn’t helped our financial situation. But it will be worth the pain once she’s here.

Thanks @ememem84 and @Fluffycloudland77 for your suggestions. Will definitely give them a go!

@WreckTangled that would make me angry too! You’re definitely not being unreasonable.

Very impressed with everyone’s low spending today! Me: £15 on Oyster card. £6 lunch Sad ripped off in Central London but was utterly starving and waiting around for an appointment at my country of origin’s embassy.

So DH had an interview today which apparently went well. Really hoping he gets the job as life on benefits is SHITE!

ememem84 · 15/11/2017 20:43

@hamburgers another one is avocado. Mush one up (only if it’s gone over ripe) and massage into wet hair. If you have a shower cap put it over and leave it for 10/15 mins.

I have done this a few times. Told a friend and she bought a pot of guacamole and used that. It didn’t help.

Dh was late home from work. Sigh. Prawns in garlic tomato sauce and pasta for dinner. Had a play with ds just now to show dh what he can do. He made some new noises. Every day he’s doing something new. Today he looked at me, poured his lips and went “oooh”

We also showed him the “bathroom baby and bathroom mummy” today. I worked out if I stand behind him I can sit him on the bathroom countertop and he can be supported by me. We stayed there for about 20 minutes. He smiled and made noises at the baby. Ha!

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/11/2017 20:45

£3 on fungal cream, £4 sainsbury on carrots and something else. £8 selection boxes, £11 Morrison's.
