Just got tooth fairy money in under dd's pillow when she woke up Shock gotta go in again in a while to remove tooth Hmm

mammymammyIRL · 13/11/2017 06:04

Got tooth out too Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/11/2017 06:41

I still have all the DC books. Kipper and all those types. Not sure what to do with them tbh.
I've done a car boot before but can't remember what sold. I hate the Argy bargy at the beginning but otherwise don't mind. I just don't want to waste my precious time.

WreckTangled · 13/11/2017 07:28

Will be £24 on ds’ swimming later but that’s it today. Dh is being really grumpy.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/11/2017 07:30

Cag TBH good bye mog would have me in tears too & I'm 40. Dh despairs of me. I cried watching how to train your dragon. Several times.

Ninja Mammy Grin

Em so impressed you can read Lord of the rings. I never managed it, or gormenghast or Ulysses's.

I've accepted my limits now.

ememem84 · 13/11/2017 08:22

Great idea re wish list cag

We’re off to reflexology this morning. Today’s session is coughs colds sniffles.

Then we’re coming home as there is a ton of housework to be done.

Spends today - car parking and milk.

needastrongone · 13/11/2017 08:51

I’ve read LOTR about 6 times. It’s my favourite all time book. DD is a Tolkien fanatic and has read all the surrounding tales and books that he wrote. She’s currently into Greek mythology! Funny isn’t it, the things that we enjoy or not Smile

It will be a NSD. Working.

Cagliostro · 13/11/2017 08:52

Oh there's definitely a lot of crap children's books out there as well as classics. I'm a total snob if I'm honest. Sadly it doesn't stop at picture books either, just started an avengers novel with DS, he was given a box set of four and they are absolute shit 😭 will see how we go with the first one as he didn't seem that engaged either TBH. Figured for now it's just important to actually read something - they were struggling last night with DH being back at work. And he's at physio this morning so won't see him much today.

Not sure on spends today, depends if we make it to taekwondo. Need to order a Tesco delivery I think.

Cagliostro · 13/11/2017 08:56

Yay Greek mythology! It was Percy Jackson that did that for DD1, started with the films (crap compared to the books but it sparked an interest). Must carry on with the books now and see if DS wants to listen to them too (he's had the audiobooks already although they no longer have that every night since DD has melatonin and actually sleeps)

I was browsing the book people site yesterday (naughty Cag) and there's a cute little book of limericks about each British monarch! Would make a nice stocking filler for her but I need to try and find out what it says about Richard III, she gets really annoyed about all the misconceptions. Like proper ranty. 😳

Taytocrisps · 13/11/2017 08:56

I'm enjoying a white pudding sandwich with a mug of coffee. The bread isn't the freshest though. Will pick some up today.

We had a lovely cosy evening last night watching tv with an open fire lighting. We watched 'Strictly' and 'Blue Planet' and I've recorded 'Howards Way' to watch by myself today. Decided it wasn't fair to inflict it on DH Grin. As it is, I'm making him watch 'Poldark'.

I have to drop a book back to the primary school. DD was reading it in 6th class and forgot to give it back before they finished up in June. Better late than never, eh? Blush

Great stealth work on the tooth fairy money mammy

SnugglySnerd · 13/11/2017 08:58

Agh! I keep losing posts.

I got a set of 10 Mog books for £10 from the Book People last year. Thankfully it doesn't include Goodbye Mog. I don't think I could cope with that.

DD loves Elmer and Aliens Love Underpants. The Sue Hendra books are good too. Very funny to 3 year olds and dh.

Taytocrisps · 13/11/2017 09:01

I tried reading LOTR (The Fellowship) but gave up after several hundred pages. That made up about the first twenty minutes of the film! We really enjoyed the films though.

Cagliostro · 13/11/2017 09:12

I loved the hobbit, DH and I read it to each other years back (we used to do that a lot, including some of the Harry potters). I only got halfway through LOTR though. I'm trying to find a nice new set for DH, he's a devout Tolkienite and our copy of the trilogy is falling apart. Would also love a lovely colour illustrated hobbit as we want to read that to the Caglets but can't find one which surprises me! I have a major weakness for beautifully illustrated books. Haven't bought any for Christmas this year though as we have a few to catch up on including the Minalima version of jungle book which is just beyond gorgeous Shock 💕

I never had Mog books as a child so I don't feel emotional about them! I never read narnia either but I loved the magicians nephew when I read it to DD, can't find it to link to but it's a massive hardback with all books in one, colour pictures throughout and, unusually, the text is in columns. It's sooo gorgeous.

Oddly I was searching for the narnia book on Amazon and finally a colour hobbit appeared! Yay! Frugal fail though :o

MyWhatICallNameChange · 13/11/2017 10:03

So many posts!

Em, what a gorgeous smile. Do you fancy swapping your lovely cute baby for smelly teenagers? No? Wink

Ooh, books! My lot are bookworms. I will be getting the illustrated Fantastic Beasts and the History of Magic book for them for Christmas. We are all Harry Potter mad!

I read LOTR when I was 13. It took many months, and I'm a speedy reader. I haven't read them since, though I do have a nice illustrated set. Love the films too.

I loved Mog when I was younger. I haven't read Goodbye Mog, I would definitely cry.

One of my DS's has asked for a duffle coat for Christmas! He was trying to squeeze into his old one which is for age 11. He's 13 and 5 ft 6! I'll probably have to go to the men's section. If anyone knows anywhere that does cheap ones please tell me. A brief look online looks like they're very expensive. Will check out town later.

ChristmasSeacow · 13/11/2017 13:25

I bought a Mog advent calendar last week from Ocado. For myself Wink. I like picture advent calendars as I think choc ones are ugly. I expect DS will appropriate it for himself though.

I am having such an amazing day. I've just had the flu jab and a smear test, and am now waiting for the roofer guys to come and clean my guttering. I know how to live, I really do.

Cagliostro · 13/11/2017 13:29

The baby and I haven't really got out of bed yet 😳😁 still sneezing and coughing like mad. I have made a GP appt and sorted some laundry, also caught up with series 11 of BBT and thanks to it being mentioned upthread I also started watching Motherland - so funny!

SnugglySnerd · 13/11/2017 13:33

I've just started watching that too Cag.

I really want a Mog advent calendar now! I just read the book to the babies. I've never noticed before that they give the burglar a cup of tea!

WreckTangled · 13/11/2017 13:59

We went to the LOTR set on New Zealand.

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/11/2017 14:14

£1.49 lidl coffee beans. Aldi charge £1.89 now Hmm
£1.98 6 months supply COD liver oil. I didn't realise you can't synthesise Vit d in winter in this country at all.

£2 parking.

Sea That is a glamourous day. Lucky you.

ememem84 · 13/11/2017 16:25

Haha! Swap my smiley cutey face for a stinky teenager...nope.

There’s a mog advent calendar??? I’m on it.

wreck we went to hobbiton the last time we were in nz. I wanted to do the studio tour but we didn’t head down as far as wellington.

Spends £46 parking ticket thingys, £3.13 milk and bread.

Took ds to reflexology then went to see Dm and df who made us lunch and let me get on with the baby thank yous. Dm showed ds around their house and dug out books. Mog, the tiger who came to tea, noisy Nora, and burglar bill.

Came home. And ds did a giant poop. Again. Why can’t hat boy save them for dh...?! It’s not fair.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/11/2017 16:31

I love children's books, dd loved mog but all the Julia Donaldson ones were the favourites the gruffalo etc

Think have managed a Nsd, fridge is almost empty tho!

needastrongone · 13/11/2017 16:41

Cag Tolkein has a 'new' book out, or unpublished rather. It was edited by his son Christopher. DD got it for her birthday. Beren and Luthen I think it's called. She loved it. Just a thought for your DH.

Well, that's DS's UCAS form sent. Massive thing for us here! Now for (hopefully) some offers to come through, specifically for the one he wants. £24, was hoping for a NSD.

There are some wonderful and amazing books out there for children now.

needastrongone · 13/11/2017 16:42

Oh and just a heads up to Sunny, I ordered the thermal leggings from M&S. They are crap in comparison to Next, thinner and cheaper looking and far less fleece lined. I'm ordering some from Next. I only did M&S for the advent calendar.

LonelyOversharer · 13/11/2017 16:43

An odd day going on here. Dd2 is getting a cold and is dizzy/nauseous when she moves. Couldn't go to school. Trip to the gp's, looks like a bit of vertigo with colds will be her thing. Poor chicky. He also told me her ear has perforated at least twice! Old and healed, but still. She used to have the most awful ear infections.

Spendy by far today. 2 x sainsburys £20 each time (forgot dog kibble), asda £14, posh garden centre £24, debenhams £132 on a Radley handbag for my mum. Good news/bad news, had £30 off today (didn't yesterday), but won't arrive until after her birthday. I should have sorted this out weeks ago.

I failed to read LOTR. Enjoyed the Hobbit as a teenager, but gave in half way through the first book (might have been when I discovered trashy romance).

Right, I'm perishingly cold here permanently. Are the best fleecy tights/legging things fron next? I don't mind stumping up a bit more money if they live a bit longer. I used to have silk thermal underwear from LL Bean, I'm even contemplating getting some more of that! Used to wear it under my boiler suit in Japan. Never been so cold. Are merino thermals good? They're very pricey too, but I want to be warm!
