Well my new manager had already said yes because she’s lovely. Old one has a habit of micro managing yet at the same time having no time for you to speak to her. Meh. Basically if something isn’t her idea she doesn’t like it.

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/11/2017 19:27

£4 in the range. Such lovely Christmas stuff ..,
£26.50 Morrison's but that included a pair of pj for me.

My luxury is good magazines and recipe books still eat the same stuff thought week in week out. I think as hard as it is you need to reassess the hair. That's a lot of money when you are getting further into debt. I totally get the need to feel good. Maybe your hair dresser could suggest something more low maintenance.

SnugglySnerd · 08/11/2017 19:51

Just lost a massive bloody post. Too tired to retype it all and not sure I can remember everyone's news now. Gist of it was NSD, park, sunshine, nice day overall Grin

Cagliostro · 08/11/2017 20:10

Glad you had a nice day sunny even if we don't get to hear the details! Thanks

Yay mammyDD ⭐️️⭐️️⭐️️

Ah hamburger I didn't realise things are quite so awful with the arrears etc. In that case yes I would rethink the hair for now :( it sucks though. As for the LLs refusing to find new tenants, I have no words 😡

Spends
£9 bus
£? lunch, DH paid, anniversary meal which was super lovely, not least because I could actually relax about what I'm eating now.
£5 DH took the Caglets to the arcade near the restaurant while I finished feeding baby. And they bumped into some home ed friends who then popped in to say hi and have baby cuddles! Random stranger also gave DD a toy they won in a claw machine as they didn't want it, so she is now happily cuddling Pinkie Pie whenever she's not cuddling the baby :o
£10 HMV, movie night DVDs

Absolute nightmare getting home after. It sucks, buses are normally absolutely brilliant round here, but it's a total farce right now due to epic roadworks. Much crowding (made worse by inconsiderate gits pushing in, I HATE that) and then needing to swap buses because the other one caught up. Ugh.

I'm not sure what to do about clothes ATM. I'm ok for tops (although I would like some more nursing tops as I'm not quite at the stage where I'm happy to just lift up a normal t-shirt IYSWIM) but trouser shopping aaaaargh. I don't want to spend money when they will hopefully also be too big in a while too. I hate clothes shopping at the best of times. Really fucking hate it. 😡 (I know, first world problem)

Cagliostro · 08/11/2017 20:10

snuggly not sunny sorry, although I hope you had a good day also!

Cagliostro · 08/11/2017 20:21

Ooh forgot last spend, £6 (£6!!!!!) passport photos, for DS' taekwondo licence :o he's doing really well, I'm super proud ⭐️️

ChristmasSeacow · 08/11/2017 20:37

Actually not too bad Mammy - after all, cuddles, house cleaned for me and new JO book for tonight!

I have been trying to get DD to bed for the last 2 hours though, so am losing my sense of humour now

LillyLollyLandy · 08/11/2017 22:25

Cag have you any strappy vest tops? I wear those under a tshirt or other top - keeps my tummy covered and you can just lift the top and pull the vest down slightly. H&M usually have packs of 3 for about £10 so can be quite frugal.

100yearsdotcom · 08/11/2017 23:32

Just popping on quickly to say happy anniversary cag!
Will try to catch up before I fall asleep.

ememem84 · 09/11/2017 02:49

Do you have any shirts cag? I’m finding shirts great for bf in with a vest top underneath

Long day yesterday. Ds wouldn’t settle. I think I’m going to have to increase the amount of milk in his bottles. And try and get stricter on naps. Although maybe at 6 weeks strict naptime is wishful thinking.

A lady at baby reflexology the other day said she doesn’t do any nappy changes in the night as nappies are designed to hold 12 hours worth of liquid which I know is true but I’m changing ds before each feed at nighttime. Right or wrong? Or doesn’t matter? He was awake just now so I changed and now he’s feeding so I haven’t woken him unnecessarily.

Nsd planned today (Thursday). Quiet stay in the house day too. Really must update budget spreadsheet. And finish thank yous

ChristmasSeacow · 09/11/2017 04:29

Hi Em, I changed DD at each feed until she started to have a distinct 'night sleep', where she slept more deeply than in the day and, although waking for feeds, didn't wake as fully (i.e. Having sleepy feeds). I now don't change her at night unless I have to (or if she is unusually wakeful). She doesn't poo at night any more unless ill /very awake for some reason. I can't remember exactly when the night sleeping happened but I think it was around the 6 week mark.

She's coughed herself very awake now, poor love. Refusing milk but much happier being held upright as it's eased the coughing and the snuffles. I think my night's sleep is over though!

It's very hard to resist internet shopping when awake all night Confused

MissingMo · 09/11/2017 05:32

I've been awake with Dd twice tonight and have succumbed to internet shopping. Just a small Xmas present. A small gin set for £5 but I completely understand the temptation @seacow. Hope you're resting easy now and little one isn't as ill and unsettled.
@em I also dropped night changing at around six weeks unless she had pooed. Usually it caused more drama to wake her by changing her than to wait an extra couple of hours when she would be properly awake. I don't think there is a right or wrong way though. Just what works best for you.

SnugglySnerd · 09/11/2017 05:59

I agree with the others Em. Only do nappy changes if dirty or if very wet. Ds soaked through his clothes a couple of weeks ago. Poor thing.

DH was up with both babies last night but didn't wake me up to help. He's much kinder than me! I am doing the pre-dawn shift for the 3rd day running though do he can get a couple of hours in.

Supermarket today. Trying to think of things to cook ahead and that we can hopefully get 2 meals out of.

lifelongfrugaleer · 09/11/2017 06:13

Morning
Nsd planned today
Step away from Amazon/eBay et al

Loveabaconsandwich · 09/11/2017 06:32

Running for the train at 6.25am is not a good start to the day Blush

The only thing that would get me doing night changes em would be if DS was more settled in a dry nappy or he has form for leakage

Hope everyone has a good day

Smile
Loveabaconsandwich · 09/11/2017 06:47

I’m now wearing a nice streak of my morning cup of tea down the front of my light top. Hope I don’t need anyone to take me seriously today Grin

WreckTangled · 09/11/2017 07:14

Em we only changed at night if there was poo or a leak.

Hoping for another nsd.

WreckTangled · 09/11/2017 07:14

Oh no love! I had chocolate all on my trousers yesterday

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/11/2017 07:25

The shopmium app has twin packs of little cheesecakes for £1, 4 different flavours.

You can scan the product in store to make sure it's the right one. I put them through on different receipts so they can't refuse the payout.

£5 nectar points claimed.

Dh has found my Xmas present £20 cheaper on Amazon. He's holding out for Black Friday. I've put it on camelcamelcamel.

needastrongone · 09/11/2017 07:30

Never changed mine at night unless they needed it, I'm not sure why you would really.

I've caved and got the M&S Advent Calendar. It was such good value last year. I spent £35 on thermal leggings and tights for me and DD as they were needed anyway.

Doing okay so far this month though.

ememem84 · 09/11/2017 07:34

Thanks guys. We went through a phase of leaking/wet through nappies at night which involves a full change. But that I think was because Ds had grown and we were still using the first nappy size. Moved up to the bigger ones now and so far no leaks. Yay.

I only fed him once last night too. He was making “I’m hungry” noises at around 430 (because he was still awake) so I offered him s bottle which id made at around 130/2. He took it in his mouth but didn’t do anything with it and fell asleep. So back in the basket he went.

He’s awake now and with dh.

LonelyOversharer · 09/11/2017 08:01

Comfort feed em glad you offered bottle and not breast! With breast the milk lets down, they have a dream feed, and get very used to sleeping with a nipple as a comforter! Stern voice of experience here.

We had a concert last night. Girls plus army band was bloody brilliant. And free. Ds fell to sleep how! and slept until 0530! 11 hours is a bit of a record for him.

As I had a very odd evening to myself I caught up with my work, did an etsy order, and made flapjack. I have been trying out ideas for a "better than flapjack" recipie for years, I think this is it...
Melt 150g butter, 150g demerera sugar, 3 tbsp golden syrup and 2 big tbsp of chunky peanut butter together,
Stir in about 450g rolled oats, then another 50g unmelted dem sugar.
Squish onto lined (big, ended up 1cm thick) tray (with wet hands), and bake at 180° for 15 or so minutes (golden brown).
I then tipped a bag of choc chips on top, left to melt and spread over the top. I chilled it to set the chocolate.
Tis utterly devine!

Quick check in. Busy day at work yesterday but low spend.
Did an early morning class today so exercise done.
Food shopping today & then Killers concert with Ds tonight

ememem84 · 09/11/2017 08:26

lonely ooh yummy. Will def be trying that recipe. I love chocolate on flapjacks and anything peanut buttery. Woohoo.

I think ds maybe needs more milk at each feed so will try that today. It’s difficukt knowing isn’t it? Seriously babies should come with instructions....

Indoors comfy casual day today. Things I want to get done:

Washing
Put clean clothes away
Sort out spare room wardrobe
Hoover
Bake flapjack
Thank yous
Ds passport application
Budget spreadsheet
Make prawn curry for dinner
Sort out my clothes - I’m sure there are some I can ditch

things I think are realistic to get done:
Take prawns out of freezer to defrost
Laundry
Make curry when dh gets home
Budget spreadsheet

Ooh we like the Killers too North. I was really surprised Brandon was a member of The Latter Day Saints. You expect musicians to be all sex, drugs & alcohol.
