We have bought a few of the bigger pressies, it's a slow burn for me. Which one is black friday? I usually start in earnest then with Christmas.

No more spends today.

Ds had a proper epic tantrum refusing to get in the car. We were very late picking up dd2 from band. I told him he wasn't getting christmas presents Blush and dp almost lost his temper with him, he never has.

Am I the only one who finds that wax jackets smell revolting? I used to go round to a friends house who's mums coat hung by the door. It used to make me heave. Thinking about it, she probably walked their dogs a lot in the rain...

We have tried lots of coffee machines fluffy and we drink instant all day long. Once the shop is closed there will be a lot less out coffees, mainly we get them so we can stay in the car (heated seats) instead of going into our shop freezing industrial unit roll on December!

Lonely Black Friday is on the 24th of this month (pay day!).**

I was thinking of getting dh a coffee maker for Christmas.* Not a machine though a filter one that keeps in warm for half an hour and has a timer etc.* I thought it would be perfect for in the mornings and for me

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 19:36

The best coffee I've ever had was in a hipster coffee shop in Dartmouth, they only used arabica & heated the coffee to 80c.

It was the best coffee ever. Lots of different flavours, I wondered what an earth I'd been drinking all these years.

They were empty.

Around the corner was a costa packed with customers.

It made no sense.

I do love my coffee though ❤️

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 19:40

My Christmas shopping is done bar one bottle of malt for Dh.

I wrap tomorrow.

WreckTangled · 07/11/2017 19:41

I hate wrapping. I like the idea but then I just doing it really uncomfortable and boring.

LonelyOversharer · 07/11/2017 19:56

Yy wreck I love the idea of wrapping, then look at it and feel all ugh. All for 15 minutes of frenzy!

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/11/2017 19:56

I've started my shopping. I will get some stuff on black Friday as my DC want apple products.
I hate wrapping and also how I have to think for everyone who wants to know what the DC want. It's great they think to ask but it's a pain on my time

Cagliostro · 07/11/2017 19:58

Wreck really not an issue my dear, just very happy to have it! Will fit for a good while yet as it's up to 10lb and she's now 6.14 :o

I love wrapping as long as I have decent paper. I still buy from boots in the sales each year, a hangover from when DH used to work for them and got discount, but I do love their paper still.

WreckTangled · 07/11/2017 20:04

Oh cag I managed to squeeze ds into it until he was 3/4 months Grin

Cagliostro · 07/11/2017 20:06

I like doing fancy things with ribbon too.

Agree with need about it being a good thing for DCs to see we aren't infallible, we are but human!

On that note I spent a good hour sobbing in bed today for no particular reason Confused wasn't expecting that but I'm doing ok. I know it has a bit of a hippy dippy reputation but mindfulness is actually brilliant (I learnt some in group therapy I had for the CFS/ME) - just the principle of actually being ok with not being ok IYSWIM. Much more helpful under the circumstances than fighting against it or being ashamed of it and getting angry with myself. I just kind of sat with it, cuddled the baby and it passed. No guilt.

Spends £2 cocktail chocolates for parents' xmas hamper, £12 Morrisons dinner (kids eat free, such a bargain), £10 HMV - 2 anime films for £20 but used a gift card.

Cagliostro · 07/11/2017 20:43

:o love it fluffy

Also I need to know more about this husband stealing slapped from Aldi?!

Glad you passed your 6 week check with flying colours em :)

Girlie I love a Billy no mates cafe session! Or anywhere really. When the Caglets are at Badgers each week I have over an hour spare. I could go to Waitrose cafe but I go to wetherspoons instead :o

DD1 got her tap class t-shirt today. Glad I spent the extra £2.50 to get her name on it, she is totally chuffed with it! :)

More frugal fun today - months ago (possibly over a year actually) I bought a huge set of blank business cards. I figured they'd be useful for something home ed related at some point. Yesterday at the registry office DS was looking at a world map and declared he wanted to draw some flags (he's funny, he isn't usually keen to pick up a pen but will suddenly get an idea in his head and then he HAS to do it) and he's been copying various flags for much of the day. Will get him to write the country names on other cards tomorrow and they can do a memory game with them or something, may as well learn the flags too.

ChristmasSeacow · 08/11/2017 00:14

Quiet this evening - Where is everyone?!

Busy day here - DD has come down with a temperature and hacking cough, so I guess that was what was brewing yesterday. She's been quite tricky. Mum Came up to look after her for a few hours so that I could do some gardening. I did a bit but it rained and DD was very miserable and I didn't want to leave all that to mum so I didn't do as much as I hoped. I planted my bulbs but realised I didn't have enough for the row of planters outside the back door (6 very large ones) so I ordered more. Hope to do those at the weekend. Hopefully I will have a huge wall of dwarf narcissi and grape hyacinths, come spring!

Lots of cooking, laundry and tidying tonight. The cleaners didn't show up last week but I'd already paid by standing order. So I've cancelled that for now, let's see if they show up tomorrow. If not I shall want my money and my keys back. I've had no response to my texts to the manager lady, who is overseas but still is the only contact I have Confused. I pay them a reasonable amount and still they are unreliable, I think I'll just have to do it myself until I go back to work. Standards will have to be lowered unless DD has a miraculous personality transplant and starts sleeping on her own.

I am about to buy some spendy boots from clarks. My trainer things from there are literally the only shoes I have that are not agony to walk in, but they are not waterproof. After a soaking on the school run today I had a look and they do the same design of sole on a gore tex walking boot, so I'm going to try it. Desperate times... I'll pay anything to walk relatively normally and not hobble!

NSD. Oops no it wasn't - extra bulbs. Online shopping is dangerous, it hardly seems to register...

Cagliostro · 08/11/2017 02:37

Will be totally worth it though, good footwear is essential even without having foot issues I think so hopefully they will really help. I don't wear them much now I'm not working but the boots I got from Clarks a few years back were possibly the best £80 (I seriously winced at the price at the time) I've ever spent. Really made a difference as I was on my feet so much in the library.

Sorry DD is poorly :(

ChristmasSeacow · 08/11/2017 04:05

DD thinks it is morning, I've been wrestling with her for the last hour already and there's no sign of sleeping or feeding Hmm

Cagliostro · 08/11/2017 04:56

Sigh! Awake here too. HV wasn't wrong when she mentioned this is growth spurt day. Up since 2 mostly feeding and dealing with our first nappy leakage incident. Yay #parentingmilestones

ememem84 · 08/11/2017 05:52

And awake here. Ds was awake at 1 for a feed then went back down no troubles. At 5 he woke up and the minute I picked him up...screaming. Changed nappy which was on the wet side and he peed on me and himself which resulted in more screaming and outfit changes for us both. He’s quiet now but is feeding at present. Almost no point going back to sleep...

I stupidly said go dh we’d give him a lift to work today. Will need to be out of here by 8 to get him there on time. Sigh.

Heading to dms after dropping dh off as we’re going into town. Ds needs some long sleeve tshirts/vests and I could do with looking at boots. I need a new pair of tan knee high boots.

mammymammyIRL · 08/11/2017 06:03

Aargh I'm behind again damn you busy life & work Grin

lifelongfrugaleer · 08/11/2017 06:21

Have you ordered the Clark's boots. I think there is a 20% off kicking about?

Up early here. No children to blame, just stress. Although dd 10 is still an early riser.

Loveabaconsandwich · 08/11/2017 06:33

I almost cried when I got to the station and saw coaches lined up outside- but they were for the poor people going in the opposite direction. Revised strike day timetable has worked in my favour as my train is going direct to my final destination rather than having to change Smile. Should only take 45 mins rather than over an hour. I doubt my journey home will be so convenient though...

Definitely worth spending the money on comfortable shoes seacow . I wear out a pair of trainers each year from wearing them on the school run and I only do a few days a week

Brew to the sleep deprived frugaleers

LillyLollyLandy · 08/11/2017 07:30

Fluffy I need to know more about this Aldi incident too...

Another rubbish night in the LLL household. You know you’re losing the plot when you hear yourself trying to negotiate with a 10 month old. Sigh. More Brew and Cake will be needed to get me through today. No wonder I’m putting weight on again.

Too fed up to be frugal today and need to visit a client on Oxford St today Confused send me willpower!!!

WreckTangled · 08/11/2017 07:30

Oh love pleased the coaches weren’t for you! Bugger about the way home though.

Ds seems ok in himself but still has a temperature and very lumpy/spotty throat. Luckily dh has arranged to have the day off as I’ve got three schools booked in quite far from home today. Should be a nsd though.

LonelyOversharer · 08/11/2017 07:46

Very frosty here. We're all feeling very sluggish. Out of the house in 25 mins, two just awake, and lots of whining in the kitchen.

Everyone have happy days x

Boots ordered at 4.30am with 20% off. Looking forward to dry feet. I still
Don't have a waterproof winter coat though. As I am hoping to lose weight I don't want to invest too much although I just had a quick drool over the North Face parkas... maybe next winter!
School run beckons, DD is messing around with her milk so she'll be hungry...

Cagliostro · 08/11/2017 08:03

I'm debating a new coat too. Not sure whether to eke this one out another year!

So glad we have very little to do today. Will go celebrate our 9 year wedding anniversary though :)

Should really sort out Christmas too. Going to pretty much all be online this year I think, even more than usual.

Need to order more bobby pins too for DD (keeps losing them at ballet somehow) and I think a spare waterproof undersheet for our bed would be a good plan. Because boobs. Hmm Blush
