Thanks I'll have a look at Barbour jackets. I've always thought they were only for ostentatiously rich people. Is that not right?

WreckTangled · 07/11/2017 15:03

Sunny I have two sisters. When we were younger we all had matching barbours. Country bumpkins you see.

Cag sorry it took so long Blush

ememem84 · 07/11/2017 15:32

sunny my Barbour was admittedly around £300. But that was 10 years ago. They don’t change much in price. And they do very good sales. Mines a wax jacket one of the classic ones. Dm has a quilted one which she says is nice and warm. Mine may need rewaxing but it can probably go another winter before I send it back.

ememem84 · 07/11/2017 15:36

£41.50 at drs for both me and ds. Dr said he is perfect she also checked me and I’m all good. Hoorah!

She said that I can bf and be on the pill as the guidelines changed earlier this year. So as long as ds is over 6 weeks I’m all good.

Annoyed as I didn’t think to book his vaccinations appointment. Bah. But dh is there for physio on Thursday so I’ll ask him to make the appointment.

I can claim back the doctors fees on my medical insurance though.

needastrongone · 07/11/2017 15:37

No, Barbour jackets are for people who think they are horsey but actually just want to look like they are. As are Hunter wellies. You won't see that many of either during a weekend long wet competition Grin

Seacow I just wanted to add, none of us are perfect parents. I actually think that it's a positive thing for our DC to see us 'fail', for want of a better word. If I lose my rag with the DC through no fault of their own, I apologise for it and explain I was knackered, stressed, pissed off with something else. I think it's actually been a positive aspect to the way I parent, as the DC will now do the same to mean if they have BU.

£5 spends today on a class - core and conditioning. Then a 5 mile run. And I've gutted downstairs and the cleaners are on holiday this week, walked the dogs twice and stripped the beds. Brownie in the oven. I get the odd day where I feel 'on fire', other days I CNBA getting off the sofa Grin

needastrongone · 07/11/2017 15:39

I appear to be in the minority. But the only one with a horse... Grin

needastrongone · 07/11/2017 15:48

Although Sunny, I expect that you are not going to need a jacket to walk dogs for 2 hours in the rain, muck out horses and then stand in a field for 2 days solid, so a Barbour might be fine! Grin

ememem84 · 07/11/2017 15:48

need haha! I wear mine riding...

I agree re hunter wellies though. Uncomfortable things.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 15:58

I use mine for the difficult journey from the front door to the car.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/11/2017 16:10

We got drowned on the school run. DD2 was compliant, completely soggy but compliant Smile

Mothercare were annoying. Made an order Saturday. Coukdn’t track package online. Customer services say still at warehouse and no idea of delivery date.

Signed up for life insurance £6 a month but £75 gift voucher as a reward. Needed the life insurance anyway and DP has signed up too.

Also signed up for the incompass thing that fluffy mentioned, thanks. If you go through maximiles you get 300 points too.

WreckTangled · 07/11/2017 16:11

My dads a gamekeeper so ner need Wink

Poor ds is feeling poorly. The school photos were shit again so saved myself some money by not wanting any.

£8 something in Aldi on cat food and treats, deodorant and the cereal bars the dc like (I stocked up) plus a couple of other bits we had run out of.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/11/2017 16:11

Also paid £200 into my LISA. Not to be available again until i’m 60 Halo

needastrongone · 07/11/2017 16:15

You win wrecked GrinGrinGrin Hope your DD is okay. I never bought many photos from school either.

Ha @ Fluffy.

Good saving there Love.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 16:18

And you've never mentioned maximiles before?.

Do you want to do a referral link? I'd join.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/11/2017 16:40

I’m sure I have fluffy but sorry if I haven’t. You get surveys and points. It does pay out but takes a while to get enough!

It wants an email address to do a referral, if you are happy to give me one? Pm me if you do

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 16:44

Pmd you!.

SunnyLikeThursday · 07/11/2017 17:10

What's a LISA Love? I have a bit of a pension problem because I got a bunch of redundancy money from my last job, but for weird legal reasons it wasn't taxable so I can't pay it into my stakeholder pension. I wish I could find a pension that I could pay non-taxable income into.

I have a friend who runs/owns a livery stable and she gets special overalls from Iceland that she says are the bees knees. Iceland the country, rather than the supermaket. I don't think I could pull those off at the school gate though.

Wreck I love that your Dad is a game keeper. That's slightly my ideal job, without all the shooting.

Loveabaconsandwich · 07/11/2017 17:16

www.skipton.co.uk/savings/isas/lifetime-isa

Sorry to just put a link but cooking dinner at the mo

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 17:57

By the way, Aldi cava is not nice anymore.

The last two bottles have been shocking, one was yellow & one is tainted with cork.

I can't even complain because I told someone in their cs she was a Dh stealing cheap slapper

But it was TRUE.

lifelongfrugaleer · 07/11/2017 18:08

I didn't get away with a Barbour wax jacket as it wasn't warm enough even with layers under. I love my waterproof Mac from there though. I got it at the factory outlet store near Newcastle.

I'm looking at North Face parkas at the minute. Or something similar. I need warm, waterproof and wind proof for the footy line.

Nsd today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2017 18:14

Mines quilted. I had a wax as s child. In a city Hmm

Dh works with people who buy moncler. Now that's fancy.

Taytocrisps · 07/11/2017 18:41

I love Extreme Couponing but would never be that dedicated to saving money. I've seen them do a 14 hour shop comprising about 23 trolley loads. I'd only manage an hour max. And they get horribly stressed as each item goes through the till, in case they miscalculated somewhere along the way. One woman had her kids climb into a skip for magazines that might contain coupons. They're incredibly dedicated and even have ring binders for all their coupons. And their kitchens look like mini warehouses. It is impressive when you see the savings they make though e.g. a $200 shop for about 15c. Coupons in Ireland tend to be of the '50c off, one item per transaction' variety.

mammy do you get the Smyths e-mails? They've a bike sale on and discounts off other toys too.

Has anyone else started their Christmas shopping yet? I've bought three presents but that's just a drop in the ocean. Must make a list. DD will probably want lots of Harry Potter stuff.

Laska5772 · 07/11/2017 18:43

I have a Musto jacket .. I have neither a horse nor a yacht ! but I do have a Tkmaxx nearby where i got it cheap!! being near Cowes we also get cheap sailing jackets/ boots etc ( good for anything) here in the winter months when they are selling off last seasons..

WreckTangled · 07/11/2017 18:44

I’ve done loads of Christmas shopping tayto with lots of Harry Potter stuff for dd. I’ve got a thread in the Christmas topic about them.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 07/11/2017 19:05

Evening all I'm hanging out like Billy no mates in tesco cafe as dd is at her drama group and it's not worth driving home and back again! Just spent £8 on Christmas cards, softener and spread. Sunny I think it will totally depend on how well you get on with your parents! I get on very well with my mum so we see her 2 or 3 times a week. Will they be happy to babysit etc? Might be nice for you and dh to have some child free time....
