Wreck I would pay off the debt and take them to see Santa at the garden centre.

Girlie 3D sounds hard tbh. I think you want an art person more than a scientist for that. If you do a google image search on it there are loads on there though.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 11:55

No snow there sunny

Thanks everyone. I’ve decided to split the money and super save all year. I’m determined to do it.

Em hope you have a nice relaxing day.

Yes EWFL last night was interesting. I felt quite sorry for her when she realised how much money she was wasting due to her fear of supermarkets. Seemed like a nice family and yes her house was nice too! Was she a dancer, is that what they said? Must pay well to accommodate that kind of spending!

mammymammyIRL · 02/11/2017 12:26

Wreck well done - can't wait to hear the holiday plans!

Cagliostro · 02/11/2017 12:36

Sounds sensible wreck :) exciting stuff! We shall all keep reminding you to be frugal for Lapland! 🎅

Cagliostro · 02/11/2017 12:41

Managed our first little walk as a family of five just now. Just 20 mins through the woods. But yay! Wasn't sure I'd manage as I was up for hours with killer afterpains. Ended up using the TENS machine again it was so bad 😳

£90 Tesco shop, and DH will take the Caglets to Badgers tonight. I'm a bit tempted to go too, but really I should make the most of the chance to rest I guess. It's a lot further away than most of their clubs.

ememem84 · 02/11/2017 12:50

Woohoo wreck I am jealous already!!! Must start saving to take ds there in a few years! Df always wanted to take me and dsis when we were kids but his fear of flying out pay to that.

Completed ds’ passport form. Just need photo and countersignatory now.

Had some homemade chicken soup for lunch - ds made it earlier in the week. Yay.

LonelyOversharer · 02/11/2017 14:13

Crikey I'm bloody busy! Having hell with the landlords of the unit who are insisting on 3 months notice. We gave 1, but have no current lease (their fuckup), so are just paying monthly atm. They have a 3 month rent deposit. Realistically if we lock up on 30th november and give them the keys, what will they do? Keep our deposit? It's already on their website as available!

Trying to get straight here. Dp has listed his "vintage" bikes, two of them are worth money, the rest not so much! I have also taken the brave decision (only just tounge in cheek here) to downsize my yarn stash. I have a lot of cones of yarn that I will never use. The compromise is I'm rolling a small ball off each, just in case!

wreck I'd pay off the credit card, pay deposit on holiday, then save like mad. When the balance is due for the holiday I'd pay it on the cc (minus the saved money) as they have so much protection. Mine has travel insurance included, so if I ever book a holiday I'd use it for the cover.

Got chicken food £12 (as had accumulator coupon) and £32 tescos. Spent £5 yesterday and £13 on chippy tea after parents evenings.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/11/2017 14:19

So they have £450 of your money? Is that correct?.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/11/2017 14:45

Final figures for the day.

£60 new windscreen
£1 bag of pact coffee beans for Christmas week

£20 of Waitrose vouchers claimed.

AdoraBell · 02/11/2017 14:55

I know this is a tad late, comment was on page 1 so soz, but DD1, 16 yr old feminist with a capital F has a good response to the “smile love” bollocks. She does a good dead pan face with - say something funny. Seems to work a treat 👌and her sister confuses blokes who wolf whistle by responded with a wolf whistle.

Frugal fail here Blush I looked at poppies on line and found the latest one on the British Legion website. And then added two much cheaper ones for the DDs as orders over £50 are free post. And all the profit goes to the poppy appeal. But I really shouldn’t have.

Also spent £48 on Pilates.

I don’t know much about rent and deposit, but I would keep pushing for any money the LL/agent has to be returned. Aren’t deposits supposed to be kept in some kind of holding account?

LonelyOversharer · 02/11/2017 16:04

The rent deposit (£1600) is held securely, it's just they insist we have to pay rent until end Jan 2018. Which is another £1100 we just don't have (plus electric, water, broadband yada yada), so we want out once our current months rent (nov) runs out. We really want the deposit back! We know 2 people after the unit already, so if they rent it surely they'll let us out of the notice period, especially as we have no current lease?? Confused

Spent £26 on timber, but dp gave me 'tips' money, so that helps too.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/11/2017 16:31

Spent £61 in Lidls, about £15 of this was food to go in a Christmas hamper I am going to put together for my dad. He is really hard to buy for but is a bit of a foody so put together nice collection of bits in a hamper.

Spent £10 in Dun Elm.

I went for a little run this morning, feel pleased i did it and def ran more than I walked!! May be brave and go to Zumba tonight as well, dd is going to come with me. Never done Zumba before - eek. That will be £10 for both of us.

SunnyLikeThursday · 02/11/2017 16:36

I had a weird thing happen. I bought some batteries off the internet and entered a competition on the packet, and won an XBox Elite wireless game controller.

Dh and Ds are over the moon. It's the oddest thing, because I never normally win those things, and the prize took nearly 4 months to come, so I was really surprised when it arrived. Yay!

LillyLollyLandy · 02/11/2017 16:37

Lonely you might want to get some legal advice. This is what the gov.uk page says about commercial tenancies (I assume that’s what you have): www.gov.uk/terminating-a-commercial-property-lease-early

I think you may be liable unless someone else takes the tenancy on, unfortunately.

LillyLollyLandy · 02/11/2017 17:01

I think it would come down to whether or not the lease just rolled on because it wasn’t terminated - but it’s been a while since I looked at this area of Law so I’m hoping I’ve got it wrong. Try asking on the legal board?

Cagliostro · 02/11/2017 18:07

Girlie I am doing a foodie hamper for my parents this year too. Have you got a TK maxx near you? They have all sorts of stuff in there. So far I got a selection of torrone (they love it) and some cocktail flavour jelly beans :o but they have loads of other random nice biscuits etc.

ChristmasSeacow · 02/11/2017 18:07

That sounds like a good prize sunny (although I don't actually know what one is!)

I hope you get your money back lonely

Wreck I am usually all for paying off debt. But in this case I'm all for Lonely's plan. Dc will remember it forever. I hope to take mine one day (if DS would enjoy /cope - we'll see). Much rather that than Disney blah blah.

Not too spendy today. About £15 at slimming world but I've lost 7 pounds In two weeks so I was really pleased about that. Then a top up on fruit and milk for around £5.

DD was dreadfully hard work yesterday - my arm was dropping off from carrying her round for hours trying to get her to nap. She's also taken to pulling at my hair constantly which saves me from tearing it out myself, I suppose Hmm. But then we had a much better night, hurrah at last!

I am about to serve hm cottage pie to DS who won't touch it. What do you do when DC don't eat their dinner - do you give an alternative? I'm happy to cater around true dislikes but am fed up of him eating only 2 different meals at home but everythjbg at school! He doesn't really have a sensory problem with food, it's just preferences /control. He wants only pizza or pasta at home. That's just not happening all week.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 18:15

Seacow have you looked into the lapland uk superstar days? I think it would be suitable for your ds if he couldn’t manage actual Lapland.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/11/2017 18:19

Is he having a cooked meal at school Christmas? If so I wouldn't stress too much at home, my dd is quite fussy but will eat about 7 different dinners so we just rotate - does get boring though. If you think he is just being awkward, I would take the plate away and no alternative

Cag my dad is more a savoury than sweet type person so have so far bought him things like nice biscuits for cheese, posh chutneys, salad dressings and various sauces! Am also going to add in some posh crisps and beers Grin oh and maybe some posh cheese nearer the time (he loves cheese!!) Reckon in total will spend about £25 on it and looks like a lot more iyswim.

ChristmasSeacow · 02/11/2017 18:25

Thanks x2 Wrecked! Will look at both.

There are cooked meals at school although I don't know what he eats. Word is the portions are tiny though.

For savoury hamper types, I noticed that Tesco are selling pigs in blankets crisps. I was intrigued!

LonelyOversharer · 02/11/2017 19:08

Thanks for the link lolly I read it out to dp. I think he gets it now! He can be very stubborn it makes me cringe

My ds eats just a few teas, and won't touch his free school lunch. We decided not to sweat it, and I just make him an 'allowed' meal. It is very frustrating! The beggar will eat a pot noodle ffs but not anything I have cooked. No pasta, nothing. Pizza, sausages, chicken in breadcrumbs, chips (maccies, chip shop or aldi french fries only), brocolli. Sigh. I'm hoping he grows out of this. Packed lunch: nutella sandwich, chocolate biscuit or homemade cake, actimel and wotsits. Every. Single. Day.

We were late home, only just finished tea, a fry up, but only fried the eggs. Made potato pancakes, ds was not fooled sadly (he will eat a scotch pancake usually).

Dp has bought us puffa type coats from Mountain Warehouse, he even used a discount code! We've tried them on, mines a 3/4 length teal one, it's very nice. We have been good and put them away for Christmas!

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 19:24

Late night here too lonely. For some reason school decided Thursday night was a good night for a disco Hmm which meant dd had to miss swimming lessons and ds is only just going to bed an hour late!
