I got a €50 tip this evening Grin
Cashed in my Christmas club at work & purchased £600 for €697 so I'm pretty happy with that.

LillyLollyLandy · 01/11/2017 20:29

Oooh that’s a dilemma wreck. Can I be nosey and ask what the holiday is? Is it age related for the DC or similar?

AdoraBell · 01/11/2017 21:04

Ooh, though one Wreck I would say pay off the debt but it would depend what the holiday is, iyswim.

Stlightly Spendy day,

Tesco £4.90, I forgot to add yoghurt to the delivery, and they had Halloween sweets half price
Bakers £6.45
Home Bargains £5.95 stocking up on canned rice pudding 🤢 for DH, the weirdo.
DH Christmas present £12
Part of Christmas present for DD2 £20.
Cash £20 for DDs going to thing with school later this week.

£75 ish on grocery delivery yesterday, and tomorrow I need to pay for Pilates, should be £58.

We can afford to splash out this Christmas, but I’ve already got DD1 a necklace and perfume that should have been her birthday present. So I can’t just get her twin sis a 1 £20 item Hmm

ChristmasSeacow · 01/11/2017 22:38

Hi Holly I don't have exercises, although I have been having a look online. My gp wasn't terribly interested TBH, said it would heal eventually (although it is actually getting progressively worse). Any recommendations?

I'm having a think Girlie. Nothing creative is occurring....

Cagliostro · 01/11/2017 22:42

Making animal/plant cell cakes is definitely A Thing... 😋

100yearsdotcom · 01/11/2017 23:26

Hello all, glad to see those gorgeous babies are thriving. I've been reading but unable to post as completely flat out busy at the mo.
Trying to keep on track with spends so making sure I stay on the thread.
It sounds like you've made the right decision lonely!
Seacow, I have pf and you need to see either a podiatrist pr physiotherapist which your gp should refer you to and you'll get exercises and may even need orthotic insoles like me. In the meantime try rolling the arch of your foot over a cold can, should help ease the pain a bit.

ChristmasSeacow · 02/11/2017 03:04

Thanks 100 I'll give that a go. I need to go back to the gp (and ask to see the nicer one this time!)

Cag I did think of cake! Grin didn't know it was a thing though!

HollyTheHarrier · 02/11/2017 06:26

seacow agree about rolling your foot on a cold can of something for relief. What made a long term difference to me was stretching my calf muscles out. I used to stand with my toes on the edge of a step and lower my heels gently until I could feel a stretch. Hold and repeat. Ideally do it every day but just as often as you can if not. Sounds bizarre but it really helped me.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 06:26

Ok it’s lapland. I know it’s totally indulgent and not a lot of people’s cup of tea but it’s something I’m desperate to do with them. My dad always said he wished he had taken us when we were younger but he couldn’t afford it. It would be for next year which is the last year dd might believe.

Today I need to buy school disco tickets £5 give £5 deposit for the world Christmas do and £10 into the birthday fund at Work (that’s for the year)

Loveabaconsandwich · 02/11/2017 06:36

Well, I would pay the minimum deposit wreck now, put the rest of the money against the cc debt. And then have the most frugal year possible to save as much towards the balance of the holiday. So cut back on non essential days out as you’d have a bigger treat in sight

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/11/2017 06:39

Sea It's probably pg related. You might need supportive insoles post pg. ask to ref to podiatry.

Loveabaconsandwich · 02/11/2017 06:45

May be spendy today as need to try to see the dentist about my front tooth filling which is coming off. It’s been there 15 years, dentist originally said it would last two years though so it hadn’t done bad

I woke at 5am again so off to work early again. Was hoping for a sleep in until 6.30 Sad . Off to a day of filling in spreadsheet mind numbing

ememem84 · 02/11/2017 06:46

wreck do it. Once ds is old enough to understand Christmas and Santa we’re taking him. Everyone I know who’s been has said it’s absolutely magical and worth every single penny.

LillyLollyLandy · 02/11/2017 06:54

Hmm wreck I see where you’re coming from. Could you have the holiday and then come up with a debt repayment plan for the credit card? That way you could feel like you’re doing both? Realistically, how long will it take you to pay that card off?

Happy days chez LLL. All 3 kids in my bed last night which resulted in DH creeping out to sleep in DD1’s bed which meant my usual morning routine of creeping out of bed at 5.10 went up the Swanee. All 3 children have been awake since 5.30. I’ve left DH with two glued to Ninjago and the baby going happily bonkers in her jumperoo. I think my neighbours may hate me (we’re in a Terrace). Oops.

I’m not feeling very frugal this morning. I want to bury myself in a pile of pastries and tea. I’ve also got a spot and I never get spots unless Aunt Flo’s on the way, so I’m wondering if that’s all starting again (haven’t had any since DD2 was born, nearly 10 Months!).

Anyway, onwards and upwards. I’ve got my flask of tea and will treat myself to a pain au chocolat when I get to the office.

WreckTangled · 02/11/2017 07:00

Thanks everyone. I think we can pay the credit card off in the next year so maybe deposit with the car money and paying off the credit card with the rest is the best way to go.

Love hope the dentist isn’t too pricey. Do you have an nhs one?

Just had an email from school requesting another £5 for something. Sigh.

Loveabaconsandwich · 02/11/2017 07:05

Yes it is NHS, just hope when I ring up at 8am the only availability isn’t straight away. As I will be two hours away!

thewaitresses · 02/11/2017 07:06

I know I would want to pay off CC but my DH would say Lapland. In 10 years time, looking back on the memories, I think he’d be right. I think the fact that you’re already in the frugal mind-set means that you’re not just putting any old thing on the CC and booking holidays left, right and centre so I imagine you will be able to have the holiday AND pay off your CC in the next year.

Super busy day yesterday so ended up being a NSD as I couldn’t get to the supermarket

SnugglySnerd · 02/11/2017 08:10

Another rubbish night's sleep. I'm going to bed earlier and earlier and I'm still shattered.
Good news though. I got paid more than I was expecting. Must be a tax refund or something.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 02/11/2017 08:55

Morning all,

I wondered if you were thinking Disney Wreck but Lapland would be even more amazing.

A plant cell cake?! Hmm will have a think....

I didn't sleep well last night, was nearly 1am by the time I went off. Think I need to cut back on the caffeine and may attempt a short run today as exercise can only help.

Have written a shopping list for Lidls later and meal planned Halo

ememem84 · 02/11/2017 09:07

MOrning all.

Feel horrendous today - sore throat blocked sinuses headache etc. Hooray! I know I’ll feel better once it starts to come out. Bring on the snot! #gross

I was in bed at about 730 last night and asleep by 8. Up at 2. And again at 6. Sigh.

Lazy day today. Have something to collect from post office so will do that.

My legs are sore from the ride yesterday. Muscles obviously just remembering what to do!

CurlsandCurves · 02/11/2017 09:15

@Wreck I definitely think you can do both. It’s a trip of a lifetime and while the sensible head says pay off the debt, the heart says you’ll never get this time with your kids again, where they are young and Christmas is still magical to them.

You could approach the cc company and explain that you want to get it paid off and would they consider freezing the interest? Or see if you can swap the debt to a 0% card, if there are any out there?

This week is turning into a speedy one. DS2 had a letter from cubs asking for £20 deposit for a trip to Harry Potter world. I need to get DHs passport renewal sent off as he’s going away in Jan and I need it back in order to renew ds1s passport which also runs out in Jan. So that’s £90-odd if I do check and send.
DS1 has school disco on Friday which is £2.50 but then he’ll need money for sweets and they do hot food as well so he can have his tea there. The fair is in town as of tonight. Can’t decide whether to take the kids tonight or Saturday. Might bite the bullet and get it out of the way tonight. That’s going to cost me a fortune!

I often find myself at the start of a week or month thinking right, everything’s been done, paid for etc. Then things just appear and all my intentions of having a thrifty week or month are scuppered!

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/11/2017 10:20

£60 for a new windscreen. I have the worst luck with windscreens.

It's going back in 18 days so it needs to stay perfect until then.

ememem84 · 02/11/2017 10:21

Captain Milkyface aka ds is sleeping! He’s in the bedroom and I’m in the living room. Hooray. So I am affording myself the luxury of a hot cup of tea and eat well for less. Hooray.

The house is tidy-ish.

ememem84 · 02/11/2017 10:24

Today should be a nsd. I’m rather pleased with myself. I have resisted the temptation to shop online. I’ve looked. But resisted.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/11/2017 11:29

£18k a year on food! Plenty of people don't even that in a year. Her home is lovely.

I like Greg Wallace. He's nothing if not enthusiastic.
