cag ! What lovely news to wake up very late to. Super name, unusal but not "out there". And she's a great size, not teeny tiny. I hope you are well, now rest up and snuggle.

Not sure what's on today, but I definatley need some coffee.

No good on dog tips, my bad lad (the spaniel) is 6.5 and still wees inside out of badness. Sometimes by an open door. Sigh.

mammymammyIRL · 26/10/2017 09:54

I love a restaurant in Ennis called The Rowan Tree, have eaten there twice in past year, I'll think of cag's Rowan every time now.

It's strange not to be calling her the cagletini anymore!

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/10/2017 10:13

I like the idea of not giving presents to Tory voters.

Laska5772 · 26/10/2017 10:18

Ahh Cag great news! She is lovely and really lovely name..Congratulations . Hope you are not feeling too bashed about after your ordeal !! Flowers

Laska5772 · 26/10/2017 10:32

Definitely not to Brexit voters. Tories I think id be ok in my family but not too sure of one or two.. ( they are not on present list anyway).
But has anyone else have a difficulty with people you know who voted Brexit (or opposite to you on this ).. I have /had a couple of very good friends, ( witnesses at out wedding we went to uni together.) I was horrified they voted for Brexit and now find it really difficult to see them.. its really affected out friendship .. . The strange thing is that they are far more left/ anti racist than anyone i know , but say they voted out on 'anti capitalist grounds' . however I still just don't understand it . It makes me feel sad that I really just cant see them the same as i used to .

Laska5772 · 26/10/2017 10:49

perhaps that was a dangerous last post. No need to get into Brexit or not here.. just ignore it .. (the situation does make me a bit sad though)

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/10/2017 10:53

I think if you can't afford it's better to just say so, no one can argue with that & I think a lot of people have enough "stuff" anyway.

All the gift sets will be half price in boots after Christmas. Buy some for next year?.

I've had 12 pouches of cat food delivered for a product test. Luckily cereal free. It's in plain packaging so I'm having my own ewl moment. At 7% protein I'm guessing whiskas though.

LLL Probably got a huge mortgage.

£10 petrol Hmm

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 10:54

I vote........

For a Brexit free zone hereGrin

MeadowHay · 26/10/2017 10:55

Laska I wouldn't have a problem with that reasoning for voting for Brexit, I think it's a bit daft personally but I know a few people in my far-left circles who did vote for Brexit for those/similar reasons. But I know most of my mam's extended family and DH's grandparents voted for Brexit mostly because of being stirred up in anti-immigrant sentiment which is really difficult for me and my immediate family given that I'm the child of an immigrant. They don't seem to realise how what they're saying could be painful or offensive to us. My mam always says "they're not racist, they're just stupid" and that mantra helps us I think Grin.

Cag Congratulations!!! Lovely little baba, hope you are getting a chance to rest now Flowers Brew

I'm still sick as a dog as they say. I was doing a bit better yesterday on keeping food down, actually had lunch and then a salad for dinner but then about 11pm or so all my salad came back up and I had the most horrendous violent bout of vomiting I couldn't stand anymore Sad. DH put me to bed and then I was up again in the night retching a few times at one point. This morning I've had a green tea and two belvita biscuits and taken a cyclizine so fingers crossed. Feel a bit more myself at least because I managed to eat more food yesterday than the day before so my body is not as drained I guess. I'm hoping to make it into work tomorrow but I'm not sure how realistic that is at present Sad. Had to cancel going the theatre tonight with my mam and her friend too Sad. I hate not being able to tell her why I'm sick as well feels awful but I really don't want anyone to know yet. However if I continue to be this ill for the next few weeks I probably will re-evaluate that decision as I can't really claim to have a bug for the next 6 weeks!

We are doing a secret santa for DH's side of the family except for some of the elderly people who don't have e-mail addresses as we're going to use an online platform that does it based on people's e-mail addresses, £20 limit. So that will save us some money, and then me, DH, my two siblings and my parents have done a secret santa there as well with a £20 limit.

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 10:56

fluffy, I got loads of the gift sets and candles in Boots in January all half price or less. Split up the gift sets. It's done presents all year. I actually kept the Soap and Glory heel genius for myself!

Laska5772 · 26/10/2017 11:04

meadow perhaps you are right.I do need to get over this and continue the friendship..They are both far left..one is from immigrant background and campaigns for anti fascist groups.. its just me i think.. i do find it really strange though..

Sorry you are still struggling.. It sounds a little better.. keep on that thought and whats to come , look at lovely Rowan and Charlie

Anyway .Ill vote with need now..

Bugger Brexit!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/10/2017 11:10

Meadow It will pass. Go back to your GP if it doesn't. There's no point suffering.

Need I never thought of splitting them up. Brilliant idea.

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/10/2017 12:08

SnugglySnerd · 26/10/2017 13:31

Bloody hell this is hard work today. They all keep crying!

ememem84 · 26/10/2017 13:36

I’m still mad I couldn’t vote re brexit. It’ll affect me too!!! #bitter

Dropped dh to work this morning. It was a planned drop off but maaaannnnn it was a stress. SS kept me awake from 4am until 6. I fell asleep at 6 dh woke me at 745. So we then had to rush around and get things ready. He woke me with tea and toast though.

We got him to work at 9. Phew.

Ds has to miss his morning feed - he didn’t wake up until we put him in his car seat. Slept through a change of nappy.

We picked dm up and then went into town. £15 in boots on a girl outfit for my friend’s new baby, calpol and a mini pot of sudocreme as am getting sick of carting the giant tub around.

Wanted a dark grey pair of skinnies from M&S but they didn’t have the right size.

Stopped for a coffee in my fave coffee shop and got my eyebrows threaded. Yippee. No more huge eyebrows.

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2017 14:13

I know the feeling Snuggly. I guess you have DD as well as DTs this week? I am looking forward to the start of term again!

Cagliostro · 26/10/2017 14:24

Thank you all so much Thanks it really means a lot also to have read back and see all the messages of concern before I posted. Not gonna lie that last 24hrs especially was beyond hellish (TMI warning).

Waters breaking did nothing (turned out later that they hadn't actually got it all - only one of two membranes or something?!). Then I had to stay on my back for a long time with constant monitoring before/during the first stage of the drip, because they were worried about her heart rate. After 15 hours I had only dilated another cm (so... 2 in total). Cue mega sob fest (even worse than on the Tuesday) begging for CS or to stop the drip or anything. But they said either way I needed an epidural so to do that first (was using G&A and TENS before which had been fine but was getting less effective).

Epidural didn't work at all so they had to redo it (painful as anything). Then they ramped up the drip again and after an hour the epidural still wore off... suddenly completely freaked out. I had assumed nothing was progressing as it was only a couple of hours since the last exam. Nope after lots of screaming it turns out I was in fact fully dilated and it was, all of a sudden, time! So I was only in actual established labour for a couple of hours and the pushing was minimal. It was a total shock as I had been absolutely convinced that nothing was working. I have never screamed so much in my life, I didn't think I could do it at all. 😳

So yeah that last day was possibly the hardest day of my life but the second they put her on me all that just disappeared. Doesn't matter anymore. ❤️

I have to say also, all the staff were completely bloody brilliant. 💐

Also seems like the induction was pointless - great size for under 38wks and the MW even checked the placenta for me (as they reckoned it was failing) and it was perfect! But again I don't care now. She's here. 😍

All going well here, they didn't have any private rooms but actually it's been fine, I feel so much better than I did before she finally arrived. Also my blood sugars were great during the whole thing - not allowed to eat for 24hrs as it took so long and had one hypo type level but I was ok and treated with a gross drink thing. 😝 Baby has passed her blood sugar tests too so all good! I am quite dizzy with blood loss but otherwise feeling pretty much on top of the world right now. 😀😀😀

Laska5772 · 26/10/2017 14:38

Oh Cag How traumatic. I just cant imagine (only one child here and luckily easy birth for me) . But as you say all over now and she is here (and so lovely) .. Flowersxx ..

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2017 15:06

Aw Cag that does sound awful. But it's like being on a roller coaster ride - you can't get off till it's over. So even when you think you can't do it you can (and did!).

And they are worth it. My big lump of a4-month old is asleep on my chest right now, snoring away. So lovely.

Are your sugars staying stable now, so you can eat normally? From what a friend with GD told me, it seems it is usually reversed pretty quickly after the birth (although some people develop type II diabetes). Are you able to eat your blackberry and raspberry domes last?!

Took DS to Costa for lunch as it's his favourite (I think he'd swap me for a cheese and roasted tomato toastie) and it's turning out to be a loooong holiday! DH paid. We just had tea and ate lunch at home, as much for diet reasons as any. I should have gone to slimming world today to weigh in but I couldn't get there as we had a visit from DS's SLT this morning so I'll see the impact of 2 weeks next week, I hope.

I might fall asleep with DD...

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/10/2017 15:49

Well done for managing that Cag. What a time you've had. Very glad it's all done.

LonelyOversharer · 26/10/2017 15:50

cag you're a superstar! Just rest now I'm so pleased you're both ok. Its a means to an end. Bloody horrific sometimes, but worth it. The shock is peculiar, it takes a while to come to terms with.

Can you imagine how big she'd have been in another 2 weeks! It seems funny to me, as I'd have assumed that monitoring and tech would have come on so much more in 15 years, but the whole "placenta failing, small possibly sick baby, early induction (that does fa)" is just the same as me with my dd1. She too was much bigger than they thought, and my placenta was fine too.

Half term is long! I took the girls into town, dd2 bought some craft things to make her siblings christmas presents with. How lovely is that! Dd1 has very sore teeth (orthadontist shut today, will make emergency appt tomorrow), and took 2 hrs to eat a sausage roll. Soup for tea!

£8 Greggs, and £30 in debenhams on unicorn slippers for dd3 (couldn't sneak them for christmas as she was there and picked them, poo) and a very reduced yankee candle, 'sea air' smells of very nice soap. Used an old pound coin in the car park machine (found under sofa).
