Good lord cag bloody well done you. Get some rest. That’s an order.

Ds and I are home now. Afternone enormous meltdown over a wet nappy and a change of clothes (him not me) he’s having a sleep. Hoorah.

I’ve had a squizz on Amazon for riding hats but even though the one I want is cheaper, I think I should go to the shop here and get it. Spending more money, but can guarantee it’ll fit. I’m assuming that they all fit the same but also our posties aren’t the most careful with things. So again, less chance that it’ll have been dropped.

Will head to the shop tomorrow. Or maybe Saturday.

Ds and I are heading to bed as soon as I’ve had dinner. There’s nothing I want to watch on “normal” tv tonight so will take laptop and will watch Netflix in bed with baby boy. Yay!

suchatiredbunny · 26/10/2017 16:12

Oh Cag I can sympathise, I had long/complicated/traumatic labours with all three of mine and remember how exhausting and terrifying it was. But also that whoosh of love you get the minute they put baby in your arms. Make sure you look after yourself and eat lots of spinach, watercress and dried apricots (but the healthy ones not the bright orange ones) to help boost you up after blood loss Flowers

suchatiredbunny · 26/10/2017 16:17

Laska thank you for the welcome. I found you a few years ago after DH lost his job suddenly (out of the blue, at 3pm he had a job by 5pm he didn’t). I read every day and have posted under different names from time to time but never joined in. Thankfully we are now in a much better place and the light is shining at the end of my debt filled tunnel, but I still try to be careful as we came very close to going under and only held on to our house because my Dad paid our mortgage for over a year. The funny thing is having a feeling of dread in my tummy for so long hasn’t completely gone, even now DH is earning a lot of money again I can’t quite relax and shake it off.

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/10/2017 16:25

bunny I know what you mean. I was very very short of money for a long time, and I'm still on edge about it. I'm glad you surfaced to talk to us. It's nice to know that you're out there, and maybe we could learn a thing or two from you too.

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2017 16:26

Do stay Such - I lurked for years before joining in!

Glad things have stabilised for you. What a lovely dad you have

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/10/2017 16:27

I'm really having a great time here playing with my invention, that frustratingly I can't tell you all about without totally outing myself. It's a photography thing though and I'm taking lots and lots of photos and enjoying every minute of it. I'd like to say it's frugal on the grounds that the photos are free, but the equipment really wasn't. It did take 20 years top save up for it all though.

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2017 16:34

Oh and £60 on some speech therapy books recommended by our SLT. I need to get educated and more structured with DS

DH is out tonight so I am doing bedtime on my own with both kids. As their needs clash around 7.30pm I am not excited about this.

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2017 16:35

Ooh Sunny photography is my hobby. I am very curious!

SnugglySnerd · 26/10/2017 16:36

Well done Cag. Hope you are resting after all that.

I'm looking forward to nursery restarting Christmas. I love having DD home but it's hard to entertain her and the DTs.

NSD.

SunnyLikeThursday · 26/10/2017 16:50

Good luck Christmas. That sounds quite tricky.

I also love photography. It's very frustrating not being able to tell you all about it. It's a lot of fun though doing it.

WreckTangled · 26/10/2017 16:50

Ah cag sorry you had such a tough time I’m pleased you had the energy to ask about the placenta Grin

Went to the pumpkin picking place. Was £4 for us to get in the £5 for 3 tokens for rides and then would have been £3 for hook a duck and more for ice cream etc plus the pumpkins were £4-£6 each so I got two and didn’t pay Blush face painting would have been £3. Blah. Mil gave us some money towards ride tokens. On the way home I spent £6 in budgens on micro mash, stuffing balls, mini doughnuts and sausage rolls. Anyway all in all spent £17 today.

Just took a phone call to say swimming lessons are cancelled as someone dropped a glass bottle by the pool so they’ve had to close it.

Epic trouser complications here.

Ds has suddenly grown, and an inch gap has appeared between the ends of his trousers and the top of his shoes.

I went on the Next website to buy bigger ones, and his usuals have been discontinued. Oh no!

He's been wearing these pull up trousers for years, both at home and at school:

www2.next.co.uk/g772434s8#184771

Great dilemma about what to replace them, with and unfortunately, possibly actual shopping trips needed to work it out. Shock

Does anybody have any good ideas? They're sort of smart casual, navy blue, with an elasticated waist. He's age 7 and 129 cm tall.

WreckTangled · 26/10/2017 17:37

Sunny my dc have always needed adjustable waist bands.* H&M have them.*

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/10/2017 17:46

£6 in sainsburys & ive asked Dh to fetch me a beer so that will be £1.80.

Cag That sounds awful. I worked with a girl whose epi failed as they cut her for the emcs.

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 17:54

Aww cag, you've had a tough time. It's true, there's that whoosh of love and it seems to have been forgotten. Take care of yourself and little Rowan and big DB/DS!

sunny, M&S maybe? Easy to order online and return.

NSD

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 17:57

such, we are way beyond struggling financially now but both DH and me didn't have much growing up and the early years of our business were very tough indeed. I STILL get that feeling of anxiety when spending and hunt for a bargain. And still want good value regardless. Stick around, please do!

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 17:59

em, do me a favour, get the hat correctly fitted at the local shop. They DO fit differently. Not a thing to skimp on, and I'm fairly relaxed in terms of attitude to risk.

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 18:06

I've split my monthly budget into weekly chunks, to see if that works. So far this week, I've bought the Christmas presents and a new bin, DS's stuff from Hollister and some tickets for the theatre for next year, allocated the food budget. Just need petrol. I've enough cash in my purse to cover. The cottage wasn't cheap (but is on its own country estate and you really don't need to leave) but I knew if I brought the food, it would actually work out a cheap week while we are here so I've recouped this overall.

MeadowHay · 26/10/2017 18:12

For a few minutes whilst plucking my eyebrows a bit I momentarily forgot that I am super sick, and I brushed my teeth without being sick before that, so I guess those are small wins. I'm hopeful I will make it into work tomorrow though I will probably be pretty useless as the cyclizine knocks me out Blush. I think I have decided to tell work I'm pregnant if my manager is in tomorrow to tell. I'd rather the sickness goes down as pregnancy-related and then I can have paid time off for my midwife appt in a couple of weeks too. I feel a bit bad that I haven't worked there long but they're a large international law firm and pay me and my colleagues terribly so...they can suck it.

FFS, the flat below us have just started drilling in the room below me.The noise is so loud it's startling me and DGPigs. Sad

Cag Hope you are resting love Flowers and enjoying snuggles with the new little one.

I remember wearing adjustable waistband trousers exclusively when I was in primary school as I was a tall, skinny thing. Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/10/2017 18:18

Right, I've watched ewfl. He rates her food Shock wtf?. I think they did it for health more than thrift. Nothing about that family said hard up & those school uniforms looked private school to my untrained eye but you never know what's around the corner.

An old acquaintance put up with her Dh while the diamond rolexs & three houses continued & then one day he was made redundant & she chucked him out.

I have serious kitchen envy. I really liked them all at the end incl him. It's never sensible to piss money away like that.

Have you noticed it's always Tesco they do the shop in?. Maybe their the only company to let them.

needastrongone · 26/10/2017 18:32

DH knows this will also happen to him if the business fails........ (joke.......!!).

Or if he tries to rate my food (not a joke......!)...

ChristmasSeacow · 26/10/2017 18:49

I actually ask DH to rate my food out of 10. It started because he's terribly polite and would just thank me for everything I made, and I couldn't tell what he really liked Grin

Sunny Sainsbury's do a lot of pull up trousers, including school uniform, with adjustable waists. Worth a try.

Meadow sorry you are having such a grim time. You can be sure to tell him /her what hard work they were when they're older!

ememem84 · 26/10/2017 19:49

need yeah...going to go to the shop to get hat and make sure it fits. I’m conscious that maybe different brands have different fits.

I’m also interested (I think) in a body protector. I don’t have to wear one but have been thinking about it. So I may try a couple on.

Better to buy local and (pay more for it) have a proper fit.

Cagliostro · 26/10/2017 20:39

Thanks all and hi bunny always lovely to meet a lurker!

So, we are home! Less than 24h after the birth. Totally chuffed about that, as they'd said at least 24h due to the GD. But due to sugars being good and her feeding well etc all is good. Quite a noveltyas I was in 3 nights after both the other two. :)
