Cut the burnt off or patch it if you've got an off cut. YouTube will kno what to do.

Queen Do you cook on gas or electric? If you cook a lot using an electric oven a halogen oven might save you money.

My ovens 2kw & 50ltrs in size. The halogens 1.2kw and 12ltrs. No warm up time & the bowl goes in the dishwasher. They often come up on eBay because they get bought on a whim. I hardly use the big oven now so I took the shelves out & store the halogen oven in there.

Gas ovens are very cheap to run but seem to be out of fashion.

Oh no Love! No help I'm afraid but sympathy.

Welcome Queen

Just checking in. Beautiful day here. There might have been ice creams.

It's a boiler. Can't change oven on renting. I'm in Plymouth.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 17:20

If it's just a combi boiler & no hot water tank you will be able to turn the water temperature down, there will be a section in the instructions for this.

Every house we rented was set to 70c.

The instructions will be on the internet & it'll be easy to do. 55c will kill bacteria. Most life can't survive 52c.

It will save you a lot of gas because it's quite pricey to heat water.

needastrongone · 14/10/2017 17:23

Behold!!

That took a fookin' lot of effort I can tell theeGrin

Turned the boiler down ages ago it was at 60 now I've put it down to 44

mammymammyIRL · 14/10/2017 17:41

Love Sad I'd say a rug or patching it are only options.

€0.94 to boost ds's voucher he did really well a Humpty Dumpty jenga type game & a fishing game. I'm impressed with his choices after some of the rubbish he looked at.
Dds budget was much bigger and she got a giant unicorn cuddly toy a beany boo, Lego and a my little pony doll.

€120 in Aldi
€20 in Lidl
Made a start on food hamper for dss's house for Christmas & got two large Cadbury medley bars & 6 pack of water for cinema. I'm not paying the outrageous prices in there! Might get kids tray then for €5

mammymammyIRL · 14/10/2017 17:42

Will catch up with everyone later
€15.50 on hen food. This is a months supply

Queenofthedrivensnow · 14/10/2017 17:45

I buy dog food every 3 months on line don't know if I can manage better than that.

My only luxury is coffee syrup

mammymammyIRL · 14/10/2017 17:47

Could you use Amazon subscribe & save queen some of the others might know. I'm in ROI

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 17:49

Mines similar on the hot water, our plumber said the stat had a lot of "play" in it. So totally fucking useless in other words.

Hot water ✔️
No hot tub ✔️

Next ones heating. Have you got temperature valves on the rads? if you turn the heating off for 15 minutes every hour consumption drops & you honestly don't notice it. Luckily it's still very mild & if your out at work the heatings off anyway.

It'll take a few months of reduced useage for the utility company to refund you the excess.

needastrongone · 14/10/2017 17:56

Queen Any CC debt that you can swap to 0%? Could you switch current accounts? Santander pay interest on direct debit payments and balances up to 20k or something, MSE usually suggest this still leaves you in a positive balance, even with a £5 monthly fee. Some offer £100 for switching.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 17:57

Queen Found this for you. community.virginmedia.com/t5/Managing-Your-Account-Cable/Cancelling-due-to-price-increase/td-p/2975026

Amazon are doing 25% off a first subscribe & save order. I cancelled the subscription the day it arrived.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 17:58

Halifax is offering £125 at the moment, they paid out in 5 days when I switched.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 14/10/2017 18:06

I have no cc debt or any apart from old school student loan which isn't credit that's about 900.
I have Netflix the kids love it I don't begrudge them that. Will take a look at the virgin thing

Queenofthedrivensnow · 14/10/2017 18:06

I have looked at the switches to different current accounts is it a pain to move all the dds? I don't use overdraft

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 18:13

It's really easy, most of them do it all online. Only Yorkshire phoned me to confirm details.

They do it all for you. One of my switches changed over the day the mortgage went out & it still went out ok.

You just bounce around all the banks for the switch fee & leave as soon as you've had it.

I don't use an od either.

M&S
Halifax
First Direct
The Co-Op
HSBC
Sometimes Yorkshire bank. All do switching incentives at some point during the year.

I think I've made £15 matched betting today.

Queenofthedrivensnow · 14/10/2017 18:22

What about salary going in?

SunnyLikeThursday · 14/10/2017 18:36

Thanks need that was useful, especially the high school stuff. One thing that worries me is whether a diagnosis would exclude him from entry to a private secondary school if he wanted it. The private school here is broadly considered to be the cat's nightwear, and I don't want to sink his chances, if it turns out that he'd want it. :-) It's good to know that there are advantages to having a label.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 18:49

I'm self employed but they give you the sort code & account number straight away so if you swapped on payday you've got time to change.

If payroll don't do it quickly enough your old bank will forward it for you.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2017 18:51

Asd et al is as old as the hills though. We just have a name for it now.

I score high on those online Asperger tests. I'm always one or two points off the threshold.

needastrongone · 14/10/2017 18:52

I don't know the answer to that Sunny but wouldn't even a private school have to play by the inclusivity rules that all educational establishments do, Seacow might know? Some food for thought anyway. The more I think about it, the more the acceptance into that particular high school for DS was massive for him. I also recall that he got access to one specific group, run by Opera North, for kids with a diagnosis that was truly exceptional in terms of developing social confidence.

You will do what is right for your DS in any event Smile

WreckTangled · 14/10/2017 18:52

Woah you lot have talked a lot this afternoon.

Indeed need there's no way of knowing how the other path (ie not getting DN diagnosed) would go. It's a subject that comes up often re home ed too, we can't simultaneously HE and send them to school, we just have to trust that we are doing our best.

Sorry sunny I have probably not been the best example of getting kids diagnosed lately what with my nocturnal sobbing the other day Blush but FWIW I am glad I do have that definitive answer now, and for their sake too as I remember the agony of growing up not knowing why I struggled so much, and the sheer relief when I found out why - but also the sadness at thinking how much it could have helped to know earlier IYSWIM. I was not in a huge community of probably-Aspie scientists though so perhaps that makes a difference :)

Can't comment on the private school, I have heard (from MN) that some are not inclusive but perhaps if that were the case it would be better to know before he enrolled, rather than some problems emerging later down the line?

I will also say that - while school applications would obviously need total honesty - we don't have to tell most people if we don't want to. None of DD's old school friends know, and with some of the clubs that the Caglets attend, they have no issues there so I have not felt the need to tell them now that they are diagnosed IYSWIM. I only have with taekwondo as DS just started and I worried about his attention levels (although it turned out to be unfounded and he is doing brilliantly yay!) in a much bigger class than he's used to. But generally it doesn't come up unless it needs to and if he is diagnosed I think you and DS will gradually get used to judging for yourselves whether you want to tell people or not :)

Welcome queen glad you have joined this lovely group, as you can see we talk a lot of frugal stuff but a whole load more besides, it really is a fabulous group of supportive people ❤️
Sympathy on the non-wet-food-eating, even my DD who is pretty good with lots of different veg etc gets totally put off by mixed up foods etc, it gets very boring. I would love them to eat stews and stuff.

Also I am sure I saw on eat well for less once a home made fruit winder recipe, cooking down fruit juices and spreading them out on an oven tray or something? Might be worth a google. Love the parking map idea too, and it adds a bit of exercise into the (literal) bargain :)

It's been a tough day here again and I am seriously looking forward to my chicken stir fry :o
