That was certainly the main thing with DS as he was huge and we have no idea. Luckily the birth was fine - much easier than DD's - but I suspect if they'd known his size they would have induced earlier or gone for a section. I know bigger babies are generally easier than tiny ones but there must be a limit, particularly due to the broader shoulders apparently.

It's also the blood sugar though - being accustomed to more glucose in the womb they struggle to adjust. Jaundice is common too. DS needed phototherapy and formula top ups as a newborn because of it. Could've been prevented if we had known! I have recently read that GD mums can/should try colostrum harvesting to supplement BF at birth so I have added tiny syringes to my baby purchase list. And hopefully as I am aware this time I can make sure my sugars stay decent and don't cause such a problem for her in the first place. I would love to be able to go home sooner after birth this time too.

Cagliostro · 19/09/2017 11:06

Yes pre eclampsia is a risk too, thankfully not an issue for me as my BP has stayed low/normal :)

ememem84 · 19/09/2017 11:18

£1.45 on 3 jammy donuts. Toook them to dm's so we've had proper coffee and donuts. Ddad is making individual leek quiches for dh and I for our freezer. Love it when he cooks. It's a hive of activity here.

Leek quiches are going on, coffee beans are being ground, a whole chicken is in one of the slow cookers, a lamb curry is being made in the other and he's got jam tarts in the oven from the left over pastry. Busy.

All good at appointment. Next one has been booked for 41 weeks. The day after my birthday. Bets on baby arriving on my birthday?!?!

WreckTangled · 19/09/2017 11:23

Also the placenta matures more quickly in people with diabetes (gestational or otherwise)

mammymammyIRL · 19/09/2017 11:46

Today I'm going to catch up [Hmm]

100yearsdotcom · 19/09/2017 12:45

All sounds good em! We though baba might arrive on dh's birthday but she didn't thankfully!

Re. GD I wasn't told about anything other than the risk of shoulder dystocia but then my care was pretty non existent and they found it so late on that they just spent the time stressing me out. Not good. Thankfully postnatal was excellent and they helped me syringe feed colostrum and cup feed a couple of formula top ups to stabilise DD's blood sugar, all equipment provided at the hospital. She wasn't big at all but got stuck anyway and had jaundice for quite a while. My GD was controlled with diet but I was pushed to consider induction before 40 weeks and eventually acquiesced to a sweep just before the end of 40th week because my Bishop's score was so high and she was obviously on her way anyway. Since the wobbly start she's been fine (except for reflux), it's just me that's a wreck! Grin

Frugal-wise, shopping costs are increasing every week I think and it's getting very hard to stick to a budget no matter where I shop.

Also getting quite stressed about keeping up with cleaning and seriously considering getting someone in but not sure we can really afford it.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/09/2017 13:11

Life i would think G.P for hearing issues, my dd was a lot younger when she was diagnosed with glue ear (about 2yo) and we went through the HV then. SENCO can refer to all sorts of things, it was the school SENCO who referred dd to the OT who diagnosed sensory processing difficulties.

Welcome back Copper

Em think its normal for your emotions to be a bit up and down pre baby, hormones are potent things!

Ouch Collie UTIs are so painful, keep drinking lots of water hope the antibiotics kick in quickly.

I met a friend in Morrisons cafe this morning for a cooked breakfast, that was yummy. She has a 2yo and 4month old and is so knackered bless her, felt for her and breathed a sigh of relief that the baby years are over cute baby though! Spent £5 on breakfast and £57 on shopping, approx £40 of that was food the rest was plants cleaning stuff, washing powder etc.

That's weird that the senco can do all that Girlie. Ours hasn't told us that she can do any of that. I wonder why she didn't? We've had to pay privately for everything.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2017 15:03

Boots returned so £38 coming back.
£22 sains, pjs, slippers, 60 gourmet cat food pouches, bread. £17.50 nectar points & £3 money off coupon used.

I've seen some boots in M&S I like never thought I'd be saying that so I'll wait until the next sparks 20% off.

The survey drought continues.

Collie You don't do things by half do you? I faint if I'm ill too. Sometimes I have a lie down on the bathroom floor to stop it.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/09/2017 15:21

Different Local authorities may have different arrangements for referrals from SENCOs, often it depends how well the different teams work together etc. Actually I need to get my ds' hearing checked too (he is 12 so maybe deliberately mishearing!) and was wondering about just taking him to Boots?

yumyumpoppycat · 19/09/2017 15:23

Fluffy I need new boots at the mo too as my current ones are squeaking very loudly when I walk Blush Was sainsburys sale good or did you order online?

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2017 15:31

The sales good, it's always packed on sale days so I pay downstairs. Even sale rails 25% off.

I buy instore so I can pay in nectar points.

I've worked in areas where hv aren't allowed to refer to podiatry. Too many "flat feet" refs for children

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 19/09/2017 15:46

I think thats pretty standard SENCO stuff round here, I have always found the NHS to be really good for everything where dd is concerned which is just as well as paying private for anything isn't an option!

Have spent the afternoon in the garden putting out some winter pansies and generally tidying up, I find being in the garden so calming, its very therapeutic Smile

lonely I'm feeling under the weather and reading your post about trays of rocky road has made me Envy

yumyumpoppycat aren't they fabulous for the price. I've 9 of them removed now and will be soaking my hands and nails in warm oil tonight before applying a strengthener, they didn't damage them though either.

snuggly what kind of soup did you make that was so popular?
Au pair reminded me that I haven't made soup in a long time.
People in RH Fitness rave about a Tuscan Bean Soup that comes in a can from Tesco for it's fibre content, it's not available in Ireland so I will attempt to make it, I've printed out the ingredients list.

tayto will €50 shop see you through the week?

I am loving Netflix - watching Grace & Frankie at the moment and it's very amusing and dc love the cartoons and choice too, must see what dh thinks but @ €10 monthly we'll probably get it regardless of his opinion Grin

Interested in this matched betting thing(who wouldn't be interested in free money Grin), wonder if my address needs to be a UK based one to qualify though Hmm

Thanks for all the good wishes with my run. I'm up to page 9 of 18 now and will be leaving work soon. So I'll post how it went and catch up with rest of thread later on

Half marathon went really well, the cut off was 2hrs 30 mins I finished in 2hrs 28 mins Smile I thoroughly enjoyed it, so it was my third half marathon but first successful one. I did feel my hips give trouble from mile 10 onwards and I'm blaming that on the heels the previous day and those miles were much slower but I did it & it felt great. We're going to make it an annual tradition.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/09/2017 17:33

Mammy good your nails haven't been damaged. I keep planning to cancel Netflix but keeping it, I have just started watching once upon a time with my two girls (have seen it myself already Blush ) Netflix originals have audio description which is good for my dp who is blind and we have started watching Narcos, the kids also have lots of things they like.

needastrongone · 19/09/2017 18:10

Mammy - that's fantastic about the half marathon. Well you, you deserve to feel proud of yourself. I was waiting for the update Smile

I'll be at Sainsbo's tomorrow, so will check the sale. Their stuff doesn't usually do it for me, but will look at bedtime stuff etc.

Feels weird - I've finished work for the week.

We have private medical insurance, obviously it's a benefit in kind so we pay tax on this, well I do anyway.

Being 100% totally and utterly honest, the only time I went down the private route was when I was looking for alternative answers to those which the NHS gave me (who were entirely correct btw, I just wasn't ready to hear this). So I looked for answers, changed consultants trying to find what I wanted to hear. This was all linked to my back. To be honest, I should have accepted that that many highly qualified people were wrong.

Lucky and appreciative to say that the NHS and state education, for all their flaws, work for us. As a country we are really bloody lucky aren't we. Should give more kudos to the system and certainly the dedicated workers, apart from Girlie, who is too busy gardening. GrinGrin

Spends
£10 Bootcamp for me and DD
£70 Petrol.

Weirdly, HMRC have added the private health cost to DH's tax code. I'ts always been on mine. The accountants are sorting it but DH takes no notice of stuff like this and just ignored the letter changing his code!!

needastrongone · 19/09/2017 18:12

*done. Bloody ancient laptop.

That that many highly qualified people were NOT wrong, they were entirely and utterly correct. I just needed to accept it myself.

Multi-tasking clearly not working for me today!

LonelyOversharer · 19/09/2017 18:21

I think I've had a nsd - I can't remember spending any money! Still time I suppose. Just had a nap! Catching up from the weekend I suppose. So late very quick tea for dc of beans on toast, with cheese on toast with sausages (already cooked). They were very pleased. I don't know why I do complicated nutritional food sometimes.

The sofa is stripped down to it's very sturdy springs. I will order some thick hessian soon, to re-encase them, then cut the foam to shape. Also took the crap knackered vinyl off one of my £5 tub chairs. So I have a pattern now to make it a whole new cover. I didn't puke, but it was full of dust that smelled like little-old-ladies house!

needastrongone · 19/09/2017 18:24

Did someone teach you to be so bloody practical Lonely? I am in awe of you. Seriously I am.

needastrongone · 19/09/2017 18:31

Lastly, did you get your DS's plan sorted with the LEA Seacow. Sorry, I don't know the correctly terminology.

Hoping to save £200 this month for Christmas, plus the refund/discount from the complaining about my walk in wardrobe area.

Loveabaconsandwich · 19/09/2017 19:10

My CheckoutSmrt has free shop brand teabags on it fluffy and anyone else who does shopping apps

I must go to sainsburys tomorrow as DD needs new slippers

£4.45 spent on Tesco today

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/09/2017 19:23

It must be account specific Love I've got a free chocolate milkshake.

I'm allergic to cows milk & Dh hates chocolate flavoured things 😂

Lonely Blimey Shock you certainly crack on don't you?.

WreckTangled · 19/09/2017 19:33
