I have just moved house (we got a mortgage) and have had loads of extra bills etc to pay the past week. On top of that our first mortgage paymentcame outtoday which is more than usual as it includes initial interest.
I live in preston and work in cumbria - a 40 minute journey and 12.70 train fare (with a railcard). I am working here until 22nd september and start a new better paid job on 25th september -the problem i have eis i cant afford to get to my current job for the next 2 weeks, let alone my new job!
So depending, I have no idea what to do!
Any ideas???

Use a credit card or overdraft until you are paid?

PlumFairy2014 · 06/09/2017 18:01

Did you look into travel costs before you moved?

GinevraFanshawe · 06/09/2017 18:05

Arrange an overdraft, put it on a credit card, borrow from a relative or get in touch with your work and ask for a small advance on your pay?

BritInUS1 · 06/09/2017 18:06

It doesn't sound like you did your budget before you bought a house if you didn't take into account how you would get to work.

I think you need to try and borrow the money

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 06/09/2017 18:09

How did you plan to pay for your travel when you moved? Surely that's something you take into consideration?

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 06/09/2017 18:11

Pawn something?! Sell something?!

Ditsy1980 · 06/09/2017 18:12

Anything you can sell?
Can you get an overdraft?
Credit card?
Anyone at work live near you for you to get a lift in?

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 06/09/2017 18:13

If you don't have enough money for a train fare, do you have enough to eat? Who else is included in the "our" house? Could they lend you the money?
I know moving house is insanely expensive but this is taking it to a crazy extreme. How on earth did you get into this position?

Dizzywhore · 06/09/2017 18:16

Instead of giving op a hard time how about actually suggesting something helpful? She sounds stressed enough!
Sell something? Ask parents/sibling/good friend for a loan?
Porn something?

reetgood · 06/09/2017 18:16

I'm sure all the 'did you before you moved' are immensely helpful to poster in her immediate predicament Hmm

Would a weekly fare bring down your cost per day?

Work from home? (Seriously, I've done this due to lack of transport funds)

Borrow the money, and get yourself a better value pass

Adjust working hours so you can travel off peak for cheaper?

Get the bus or coach?

Emmageddon · 06/09/2017 18:16

Borrow money from your mum/sister/best friend. Ask your bank for an overdraft. Use a credit card.

You don't know how you're going to afford to get to your new job either?

Perhaps you need to reconsider your career and find a job that isn't a 40 minute train ride away.

Dizzywhore · 06/09/2017 18:16

Pawn Blush

MegCleary · 06/09/2017 18:19

Dizzywhore pretty harsh with that name asking op to porn something Wink

Anyone you could ask for a loan, sell something?

Emmageddon · 06/09/2017 18:19

@Dizzywhore

Porn something Grin

Well that's one way of making a few bob.

Clafoutis · 06/09/2017 18:20

Is there a family member/friend near work who you could crash with during the working week?

Archifly · 06/09/2017 18:23

I did budget, but we weren't aware the mortgage would be more this month, I had 2 months of council tax come out for some reason, I had a large childcare bill than expected because of how the Childminder does the Invoices and installation charge for our services etc. I'd get a loan but i cant, i've no credit history and i do twat to risk anything with having a mortgage.. The railcard is the cheapest way of buying my tickets. Its just this first month, it has been crazy expensive!! BlushSad

Archifly · 06/09/2017 18:26

NotTheDuchessOfCambridge · 06/09/2017 18:26

Any gold you can sell? eBay things? Cut back on food shop? There must be some way you can do it. As family for a short term loan/early birthday or Christmas present.

Archifly · 06/09/2017 18:27

SoftlyCatchyMonkey1 i cant get one - I tried...

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 06/09/2017 18:28

I don't understand what you mean by not wanting to risk anything due to having a
Mortgage? Or that you've literally no credit history? How was it possible to get the mortgage without one?
How about taking out a credit card - capital
One lets you see if you'd be accepted before applying so it won't affect your credit rating.
I know they're a last resort, but payday loan companies will lend to nearly anyone. Just try and repay asap to avoid crippling interest.

Ttbb · 06/09/2017 18:29

A lot of employers offer interest free loans to buy season tickets.

StealthPolarBear · 06/09/2017 18:30

Don't understand why people are questioning the op, she starts a new better paid job and that will presumably allow her to travel. Sounds like the saws have just worked against her a bit. Op you must have someone you can borrow from.

MimsyBorogroves · 06/09/2017 18:30

Use your annual leave.

StealthPolarBear · 06/09/2017 18:31

Do you have children
