Archifly · 06/09/2017 17:57

I have just moved house (we got a mortgage) and have had loads of extra bills etc to pay the past week. On top of that our first mortgage paymentcame outtoday which is more than usual as it includes initial interest.
I live in preston and work in cumbria - a 40 minute journey and 12.70 train fare (with a railcard). I am working here until 22nd september and start a new better paid job on 25th september -the problem i have eis i cant afford to get to my current job for the next 2 weeks, let alone my new job!
So depending, I have no idea what to do!
Any ideas???

Archifly, how much is it that yu need in total?

FinallyDecidedOnUserName · 06/09/2017 19:09

I was thinking cash in your tesco club card points for pizza express and swap them with friends/family for cash.

If I had a mate who was really stuck id loan it but sorry I don't know you.

Try a crowd funding site?

Frequency · 06/09/2017 19:09

Wait until he goes to sleep, take his card, get the cash out, put the card back.

That's what I resorted to when I was being financially abused.

I LTB and I am much happier now albeit skint, still I can afford to eat AND get to work, so I'm better off than I was before.

curly a lot do. I posted before under a different username just wanting advice - which I stated clearly. I had a few inboxes of offers of money etc.

OP I've nothing else to add as everyone has suggested what id do. Personally I've found selling on Facebook means it's quick cash so anything you can sell?

If your in Wales by any chance you can apply for emergency funds that you don't have to pay back, it's £80 and you get in 24 hours. Any family?
Hope it's sorted soon Flowers

Gorgosparta · 06/09/2017 19:09

Why would you buy a house with him?

Are you married? Is he the father of your son?

Bluntness100 · 06/09/2017 19:09

thats a whole other issue but its not the one im trying to solve

Can I ask why not? you're living with someone who would not even cover part of your bills to enable you to get to work. Basically he wouldn't spit on you if you were on fire. In some way are you under the misapprehension this man loves you? Or do you know he doesn't but you just don't care?

PlumFairy2014 · 06/09/2017 19:10

I am not trying to make the OP explain, but nothing anybody says seems to be accepted... which makes me think they are after financial help.

Timmytoo · 06/09/2017 19:10

Hand your jewellery in and then buy it back when you can. I've done this loads. They won't s ok it and you sign an agreement.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 06/09/2017 19:10

Crowdfunding for a rail ticket your partner refuses to help you with?? Why would total strangers feel any more obligation to help?

Timmytoo · 06/09/2017 19:11

Sell it** Sorry shit long day 😰

RebelRogue · 06/09/2017 19:14

Your OH is very much part of the problem. If he was a decent human being ,you wouldn't even have this problem.

Can you work from home at all?
Car pool with a colleague?
Borrow money from friends/family?
Sell/pawn stuff?(old phones,books,old baby clothes/equipment etc)
Talk to your bank about increasing your overdraft.
Since it's not a large sum,and a one off you could even look at a payday loan.
Your OH won't lend you money, but would he agree to you not contribute a bill, food etc so you can save some money just this once?

PlumFairy2014 · 06/09/2017 19:15

So he got a joint mortgage with you but won't lend you the money? So 50% of the equity is yours?

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 06/09/2017 19:16

Your boyfriend being an arse is actually not a "whole other issue" at all, op. It's THE issue.
You can't afford to travel to your workplace, and he refuses to lend you the cash for your railcard.

What do you want people to say to you?

I cannot believe someone seriously suggested a crowdfunding site...

MistyMinge · 06/09/2017 19:16

Ring your bank and see if you can increase or add overdraft. You have my sympathies. The first month or two when you've bought a house is often more than anticipated as bills etc ate sorted out.

You don't need to justify yourself!

get a loan for 3 weeks from one of the lenders

StealthPolarBear · 06/09/2017 19:17

Exactly plum. The op hasn't responded to all the reasonable suggestions.

StealthPolarBear · 06/09/2017 19:18

Custard, bast Ards, the sort of employer who would begrudge paying a skiver?

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 06/09/2017 19:19

You can't pretend to be sick for two weeks because you can't buy a railcard! Bloody hell

NachoAddict · 06/09/2017 19:22

There are lots of good ideas on the thread. I would take something of his to cash converters.
Failing that call in sick to your current job unless you need a reference still.

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 06/09/2017 19:23

Another one Hmm

Thank you to everyone who brought this thread to our attention.

We're awed daily by the astonishing support that our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns – but we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster (emotionally or financially) than they can afford to spare.

You've been given plenty of ideas here so I'm sure one of them will be the solution.

Not sure why you have just got a mortgage with someone as awful as you say but nothing to do with me.

Hallomiaddicted · 06/09/2017 19:39

How can u afford a mortgage but not train travel ! Calling in sick is fraud. Don't understand how u only realised this is a problem
