need I'm with you on this. I sometimes forget I need to be my own biggest fan.

£34 pizza (dh paid). He brought me a dala horse.

Fluffys frugaleer thread. All welcome.
LonelyOversharer · 12/05/2017 22:28

Love your horse em I take it you're not going to use if for the inspiration and colour palette for the baby's room!!

Super busy day, and did the school music concert tonight. Was ace, dd1 played her picollo really loud which was very brave of her. She's the only one, and can't hide with it. Am always stunned at the skill and confidence of still quite young children. Ds slept right through it Confused how??

Road race on sunday, so I'm flat out now until sunday afternoon. Bought loads of baking stuff, but will recoup from the kitty. Turns out one of our race guys is lactose intolerant always wondered why he didn't touch the goodies so will make some dairy free stuff (carrot cake is bar icing, marble cake thanks for idea need! with vitalite, and flapjack with coconut oil) as a trial.

Mummysh0rtlegs · 12/05/2017 22:48

I use block stork as that is dairy free (Or was last time I looked!) and if the mix needs loosening I put in a tiny bit of almond milk. For icing I make butter icing with stork and icing sugar and a very decent amount of vanilla bean paste.

Spent £38 on everything £5, really impressed! Gym trousers are brilliant.

LonelyOversharer · 12/05/2017 23:03

I aways use stork for sponge cake (Mary Berry taught me well)- never thought to check if it was dairy free! Have coconut milk as I am slightly addicted to it (luckily its low cal, the alpro one) so will put a splosh of that in if needed, thanks mummy

mammymammyIRL · 13/05/2017 00:52

Just had a lovely few hours having a glass or two of vino with two of the women in my life, both of whom took the chance to unburden which is fabulous.

The wine I had in from a Christmas present from a work colleague it's €35.99 a bottle, it was nice but out of my budget.

No other spends to report

SunnyLikeThursday · 13/05/2017 06:31

Yes Copper that's right. They can't just make up extra rules, but he was saying it all with great authority and making it hard for me to disagree. I'm really glad that I'm experienced in scouting so I knew how to sort that out.

It makes me wonder how many other places in my life people are making up arbitrary rules just to be difficult. At least in Beavers the rules are written down so I can sort such problems out fairly easily.

We're still mulling cars here.

northender · 13/05/2017 06:32

Wow, the thread has moved fast over the last couple of days. Lots of clothes shopping talk which I won't join in with as I'm limited due to my size. Will be lovely, as I lose inches, to have more choice though.
lonely well done to your dd in her concert, sounds like you'll have another busy weekend.
cag it's horrible seeing your dc go through the emotional mill like that isn't it? Your dd will learn from it though and has you supporting her so will be okay in the long run.
girlie well done to your dd on getting through SATs week. I remember it well from last year and especially the stress it created Angry.
need love the idea of partying post 3 peaks! If ever I manage something like that, a bath and a bed are all I would need! I'm contemplating doing the London marathon next year Shock. It's something I've always fancied doing and would be something to aim for through my training and weight loss and I would like to raise money for Headway. When I had the bleed last year, I called their volunteer helpline a couple of times and found it a real support so would like to give something back.
wreck I haven't been able to get into green smoothies yet so I'm not tempted either. I do one with a pear, berries, oats and yoghurt which I like. I have been known to replace the yoghurt with cottage cheese for added protein. Dd doesn't like the cottage cheese adaptation but it works for me.
laska, sorry but quiche just isn't quiche without the pastry!
sunny that sounds odd about the electric car being noisy, we've found them difficult as pedestrians because of their extreme quietness/silence. My experience of Beavers was that badges were awarded en masse when different sections/topics were completed. There was always the option to complete extra badges in spare time/holidays but we didn't do that.
bacon (I think it was you) it's hard as parents get older. Our dc are 15 & 12 so becoming more independent all the time, but rather than our time being freed up, the slack is being taken up with giving more support to my parents.

I've had a busy but productive couple of days.
The remortgage is proceeding well. I'm just waiting for new insurance documents so that it can be completed. Hopefully next week or the week after. I'm switching our current account to M&S once all this months transactions are done.
Spent £6 on lunch out with friend on Thursday with a friend.
Money has come in from H&M returns and from Webuybookks, still waiting on Ziffit. I have a few things listed on eBay but they aren't getting much interest so I'm not sure they'll sell. Still have a couple more things to list though and Dh is letting me list 2 binders with Shoot! football magazines from 1970 which look like they should fetch £30ish each.

Going to a group training session this morning, then a short walk in bluebell woods with dd. DS has cricket, we'll take dd to the match she is scoring for & then dh & I will have a few hours on our own which will be good.

Have a good weekend everyone

needastrongone · 13/05/2017 07:35

Love the horse Em. Grin

Lonely I forgot to thank you for the quiche recipe picture. I love a well worn recipe book, I really do. DD is the same chest size as your DD, we had her fitted at Bravissimo, but it's very expensive to buy from there and not very 'young', so she usually goes to Primark!

Yep, I am a Stork user for cakes too!

That sounds like a well overdue evening Mammy, glad you enjoy the expensive wine!

North, do the marathon. Just do it. I cannot adequately describe the feeling when you cross the line. It's blood sweat and tears, it's early long runs in freezing temperatures, it's pushing yourself to do something you never imagined you could do, it's pride, it's emotion about the cause you've chosen, it's pain, it's elation, it's relief. It's the cumulative effort of training all those months. It's totally unique and special and you carry that belief that you are far more capable in your life that you thought you were into all areas of your life.

I've found M&S to be an excellent bank, their customer service team on the occasional time I've needed them are great. The internet banking is a touch more clunky than Santander, but perfectly fine.

We didn't do extra Beaver badges either, the DC would randomly come home with a few badges done in the group, which I would never sow on, then I would get bollocked by the GSL, who is one of my very best friends Grin

And they still wouldn't get sown on!!

needastrongone · 13/05/2017 07:36

ps Lonely Good luck for the TT, you work bloody hard for that club, you really do. x

WreckTangled · 13/05/2017 07:41

Busy day. Taking dd to get her hair cut, need to pop into tesco to pick up a birthday present, then to my friends house for coffee (her Ds is autistic so it might not go well) then Ds has a party to go to this afternoon.

Cagliostro · 13/05/2017 08:18

Thank you for your kind words about DD need - I agree she has done well to accept this is happening. She has always found sticking up for herself really difficult and has always been far more passive than most kids, but she's been learning to assert herself lately - and actually I think that was part of the reason this girl turned extra nasty, she's used to DD being totally under her thumb (actually her brother is the same with DS - both of them are only happy when they're in charge). But that makes it even more important that I don't encourage DD to go back to being passive, it doesn't set up a good example for future relationships.

ememem84 · 13/05/2017 08:20

We are heading off to the vets. Somehow catface knows. And has hidden in the wardrobe dh must have told her the box isn't even out yet. Sigh.

Appointments in an hour and it'll take me 20 minutes to get there.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/05/2017 08:28

Busy day here too. Food shopping. Footy, swimming, 4 hours dance rehearsal which I'm chaperone.
Lots of sleep though so feel much better.

Will catch up soon. Possibly.

Cagliostro · 13/05/2017 08:29

Sunny glad you are getting the Beavers stuff sorted.

Anyway sorry for my non-frugal ranting. Sooo frugal stuff. No idea. Haven't been on the ball at all with that lately! Must get back to basics!

Cagliostro · 13/05/2017 08:30

Oh no em it's absolutely bizarre how they just KNOW isn't it? Hope you can get her there. I expect vets are quite used to cancellations because of this issue!

ememem84 · 13/05/2017 08:34

We've been very careful and haven't even mentioned the VET word. Just referred to it as "we've got an appointment" or "we have to go to the place..."

Box is out now and I'm going to have to arm myself with dreamies and coax her out. For my own piece of mind that I'm wasting their time with her eye I need to take her. Better to be an overly cautious neurotic cat mum and find out there's nothing wrong with her than leave it get worse then find out I could have prevented it.

Laska5772 · 13/05/2017 08:40

Not to be outdone on the horsey front!

Fluffys frugaleer thread. All welcome.
Laska5772 · 13/05/2017 08:41

My lounge currently looks like a duplo explosion!

Fluffycloudland77 · 13/05/2017 08:43

It's a change in routine, they pick up on these things & it freaks them out.

Your probably not getting ready to go out this early on a Saturday morning every week.

OP posts:
LonelyOversharer · 13/05/2017 08:44

Absolutely em better safe than sorry. My old cat hates the car, so I have decided no more trips for him unless it's clear he's in pain, he is 16 though.

We took the dogs last week for boosters, they had to put us in a side room as we were being so disruptive. When we got into the vets my spaniel did the biggest poo on the floor. We have to go back next week. I can't wait.

One more coffee and we're off shopping.

Loveabaconsandwich · 13/05/2017 08:46

The aging parents thing has been worrying me. The thing is (does sound harsh) since DD2 was born, we've got very good at not feeling obliged to do things we don't want to do with/for either sets of parents. As our parents get older, we'll have to relinquish this back again. I do love my parents but I find them harsh work and I cannot agree with some of their views on things and generally leave feeling wound up! Which when I work long days and am tired anyway is just an additional stress

Anyhow, being too available for my parents may have made my reasons not to leave my job list Confused

Hoping for a LSD. No plans yet so who knows

SnugglySnerd · 13/05/2017 08:58

Just checking in, going to catch up properly in a minute but thanks for reminding me I need to call the vet.

Cagliostro · 13/05/2017 09:10

Ok now I'm crying for a whole other reason. I just checked my bank account and saw my balance had shot up by over £2k. Confused. View transactions.

It's from DWP. I have been awarded PIP. Actually can't fucking believe it.

LonelyOversharer · 13/05/2017 09:21

Oh cag Flowers I take it that's backdated a bit. I guess it's a mixed bag, fab about the money, but I know it will be hard for you as it proves that you are poorly. I didn't think it got awarded without a fight anymore. Have some more Flowers What a relief financially for you and yours though.

Laska5772 · 13/05/2017 09:22

Love I am a bit concerned about you on the lsd! Grin
Here is Dhs lovely sourdough bread. We have had the starter going for about 15 years now
