Agree with North not really sure it is in keeping with the spirit of the thread to tell another poster to ignore you Sunny!!

Anyway glad your dd was alright Cag I am reading a book atm called 'The Cuckoo's parting cry' which is told from the POV of an 8yo girl in 1930s Wales, who is basically left to her own devices from morning to evening!! It def makes me think we have gone a bit too far in not allowing kids anywhere near as much freedom, that said I am feeling very anxious about the prospect of dd walking to and from secondary school and being on her own until I get home from work!!

We have no plans today, have just had eggs for brekkie and might go and see my mum later. Dd is still coughing a fair bit so think will take her back to the G.P tomos.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 23/04/2017 09:57

Need forgot to say sorry to hear your dh is struggling atm Flowers that must be really difficult. I plan on watching some of the marathon later as well, might even attempt an extremely short run myself Wink

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/04/2017 10:28

Need Flowers have a good day with DD.

Pic nic packed, off to an open air museum today that we have annual membership for

CremeEggThief · 23/04/2017 11:13

Lovely day for it, Life, if it's the one I'm thinking of!Smile

Hope you're having a good day too, Need and your DH feels better after a day on his own.

Enjoy your Sunday, everyone.Smile

HollyTheHarrier · 23/04/2017 12:14

Hello all. Just been catching up on the last few pages.

Meadow thank you for noticing I was missing 😊 That's made me feel all warm and fuzzy. Hope exam prep is going ok.

Sunny congrats on the paper. Fantastic success.

Adora sorry about having to cancel holidays, that's rubbish

Em congrats on selling your house. I was really worried about the pressure to find somewhere after selling/risk of making a bad decision but fortunately the timing worked out quite well for us. I'd be put off by the washing machine thing if there was no way to change it, but as long as it could be sorted in time I wouldn't be.

Seacow great news on getting that project. Sounds like it will be well worth it. Congratulations.

creme how awful about the house fire. Hope you're ok.

cag I don't think your friend is acting at all reasonably about the baby but it sounds like you're handling it very well and with great dignity. Well done to dd on coping with the bus alone.

need glad the pony is doing a bit better. Sorry your husband isn't doing so well.

I had another stupid busy week at work. It's getting quite exhausting and I have no time to deal with any personal stuff (like the small matter of moving house) or to look after myself. I'm having to work pretty hard not to be short with people at work as I'm so knackered and when my boss winds me up about some trivial thing it's hard not to be a bit abrupt. Never mind. I'll get there.

I've also been away this weekend in Bath. Lovely weekend, and pretty frugal as stayed with family. So only cost was about half a tank of fuel and an £8 taxi into the city for some sightseeing. I'm home now and just chilling watching the London Marathon and enjoying tracking my club friends around the course. Need to get out myself for a run shortly, it's a lovely day.

I need to do a bit of a freezer/cupboard audit later and plan some meals to use up what I have before moving. And I need to do some work. Think I'd better get a move on...

Cagliostro · 23/04/2017 12:54

Hi all. I've given up keeping up with this thread! Finding it a bit tricky to read stuff still. Hmm Please forgive my lack of responses to people!

Frugal fail, the ginger beer was a waste of money. Tried it but OMG is it actually made of devil's pee or something? I'm a wimp and can't handle the taste! Blush

Will have to go out later to get picnic stuff for the trip tomorrow. Actually looking at the time it'll have to be quite soon really. Bah.

WreckTangled · 23/04/2017 12:58

Back. Second load of washing on. Trying to stay awake. Must. Not. Sit. Down.

WreckTangled · 23/04/2017 12:59

Ffs Cag. I love ginger beer! We can no longer be friends Wink

ememem84 · 23/04/2017 13:05

Yeah cag ginger beer is delish. Which one have you got?

The Waitrose own one is nice. As is the bundaberg one. Try it icey cold with mint leaves. Mmmm. Also old jamaica is nice.

The red one in the can with the flame on it is not so good.

Cagliostro · 23/04/2017 13:06

If I could send you the remaining cans via the internet I would Wreck :o although I have already lost some Frugaleer friends due to differing Marmite opinions. :( :o

Cagliostro · 23/04/2017 13:07

Was old jamaica I tried!

WreckTangled · 23/04/2017 13:15

Oh that's right you're already not my friend 😂

Just had the food shopping delivered. £60. Not sure what meals I have but at least I don't need to go out to the supermarket.

ememem84 · 23/04/2017 13:26

Hm. Maybe you're drinking it wrong.

I forgot you had a funny opinion on marmite. I'm with wreck not sure we can be friends anymore 😉

Cagliostro · 23/04/2017 13:40

oh nooooo :( :( curse my strange food habits :o

ChristmasSeacow · 23/04/2017 13:43

Cag you could try ginger ale instead - its much milder than ginger beer. Too sweet for me but then I am not really a fizzy drink person anyway. Though I could fancy trying ginger beer with mint in.

I have been back to bed for a nap - was on my feet all day yesterday and then didn't have much sleep (late night + DS up v early). Feel ready to tackle all my correspondence and complaints now. After a cheese and ham toastie- loving my Breville!

Cagliostro · 23/04/2017 13:47

oooh didn't know there was a difference thanks! I shall see if I can try that. I also heard there is now Pepsi with ginger in it?! Have cut right back on Pepsi etc but if it makes even a tiny bit of difference it'll be worth it :o

ememem84 · 23/04/2017 13:58

Eugh. Pepsi with ginger? Eugh.

I found cranberry juice helped with the nausea. Peppermint tea too.

In work. Reading legal docs eating flamin hot monster munch. Living the dream right here. 😂

MeadowHay · 23/04/2017 14:08

Cag I get nausea quite a lot as a side effect from medication and also as a symptom of IBS and GORD and when I have a migraine. Ginger biscuits are a great help, and other dry plain things like crackers and rich tea biscuits. I agree with cranberry juice and peppermint tea. Also lemonade, especially if it's very lemony, like cloudy lemonade. A few spoons of lemon juice too (just make sure to rinse teeth with water after). Salad. When it was really really bad when I was switching antidepressants I had medication from the GP which helped a lot that you left in your gum to dissolve, I don't know if you can take it when pregnant though and I can't even remember it's name. It was actually an antipsychotic but in a very tiny dose used for nausea. Agree ginger beer is vile. Grin

Holly I think your username is just easy to remember because usually I'm rubbish at remembering people's usernames to see where they are and stuff! Hello again though! Exam revision is going not too bad I guess. I have been feeling not as stressy the last few days too because been busy visiting DH's family.

NSD for me today, staying in and revising on and off really. I didn't wake up until 11.30am today, all the socialising I did yesterday exhausted me so bad.

Need Sorry to hear your DH is not feeling well, I hope he feels better soon and hope you are ok too Flowers.

Cagliostro · 23/04/2017 14:13

Thanks, oooh cranberry is nice with OJ and good for preventing UTI etc apparently. Double whammy! Love cloudy lemonade too but nooo to peppermint tea (I'm such a fusspot!) I don't do any herbal tea although I did force lots of raspberry leaf tea down me in late pregnancy with DS (it's supposed to help somehow?!)

Off to town for picnic supplies, wonder what else will fall into my basket!

Mummysh0rtlegs · 23/04/2017 14:17

Cag - if your nausea / sickness is debilitating then see if the GP can give you something? I found never getting hungry helped, lots of salty stuff. Hope that isn't repeating things you have already heard / tried.

Yesterday we went to NT property and saw piglets and lambs and calves, it was lovely. We had to get some diesel on the way back, £55 but a usual expense.

Today I am in bed with a weird energy zapping virus. NSD for me, but Dh bought bread and bacon for lunch £3.

I get paid again tomorrow, this will be by second week, it feels very odd money going into our account from me!

ememem84 · 23/04/2017 14:32

My doctor told me to treat the absolute joke that is morning sickness like a hangover. For me that meant salt and vinegar crisps, icy cold cans of Coke and sprite and cloudy lemonade. Also eating often really helped as I could never be sure if I was feeling sicky because I was hungry or because I'm pregnant.

Oooh. Picnic basket food shopping. Hey sausage rolls. Mmmm.

ememem84 · 23/04/2017 14:34

I've just set up a standing order to transfer my riding lesson money to my savings ac once I stop riding. Am aiming to go until the end of June. So should be able to save about £350 (as a minimum) in the few months between stopping. Having baby and then starting back again.

SunnyLikeThursday · 23/04/2017 14:43

I just spent four solid hours cajoling a tiny tiny Beaver round the St George's Day celebrations in a wood. For the first two hours he was tearful and for the second two he was singing and skipping, so I thought that was a pretty good success.

Ds was happy and jolly and self-organising, so that was good too. None of our group was either the cause or the recipient of the split lip. Score.

It would be an NSD except I bought a greenhouse heater at about 3am. Now - lunch!

LonelyOversharer · 23/04/2017 14:50

Ginger nuts! Welcome to share. I got off very lightly with morning sickness, so I'm no help. Mil is here, so I'm needlessly watching the biccys cook in the kitchen Grin Sunny here so off for a dog walk next. She has her GSD with her, he's a bit of a monster (huge, v soft temperament) and I try not to be a bit scared!

LonelyOversharer · 23/04/2017 14:50

dur. Tag the pic on before hitting post...
