Em If you feel at all inclined not to vaccinate I would be so glad if you would talk to or shout at me about it first. I'm a biological research scientist and I can give you the counter argument in spades if you need it.

This video is good for starters:

There is numbing cream that you can put on the baby's skin beforehand so there is no pain.

My ds is fully vaccinated, up to the ears, including chickenpox. I'm very glad to have the option because 5 of my friends have had meningitis, my granny had diphtheria, and my Mum had polio and pneumonia. I really can't see why anyone would bring that stuff on their own chlld, when a vaccine can prevent it. I'm always pleased to give the logic and science behind it all.

I'm with sunny on the vaccination thing TBH, to me it is just absolutely not worth the risk - if there is a chance to avoid such diseases as measles (which I recently heard is on the rise again?!) then I'm damn well taking it. I bite my tongue a lot nowadays as there are a lot more anti-vax families in the home ed community who are very vocal about it, but nope the Caglets had all their jabs and so will Cagletini. I respect other views but for me it's not going to change.

I need to stick phone on charge so sorry I haven't said more about music yet seacow I will do later.

We spent the morning watching a little baby rabbit that was attacked by a cat outside. DH rescued it. Don't normally get wild rabbits round here - hopped along beside the motorway from the airport/industrial area maybe?! Anyway RSPCA collected it. Soooo cute.

Must get dressed and pack for a few days at mum's. Won't be back home (although will have internet) until scan day! I get what you mean about just feeling relief when you hear the heartbeat etc, I am feeling like that currently, just really anxious now.

SnugglySnerd · 12/04/2017 11:46

Grrr MIL has taken DD1 out while babies sleep so I can have a rest. So far the cat has been sick on the carpet and then walked through it so I've been scrubbing the floor for ages. Now the little sod has got comfy on my lap and I've remembered I need to hang out the washing. I'll do it in a bit...

Went to Sainsbury's yesterday and got stuff for the kids with 25% off. Actually I got stuff for DD1 and DS. Poor DD2 will be forever wearing her sister's hand downs.

I love the shark bus, Em. Have you seen the shark house, in Oxford I think. I'd post a photo but it never works from my phone. Exciting to hear the baby's heart beat.

Right, off to peg washing and I might get ahead with dinner too...

ChristmasSeacow · 12/04/2017 11:49

Such recipe love! It was in one of the last two delicious magazines but definitely a keeper. Perfect for spring /summer. ( I take photos of all the recipes I like the sound of while at the hairdresser Wink). There's not much to add to what I wrote but if anyone wants specific quantities I can post later. It was the first time I have tried reggae reggae sauce - I don't buy ready made sauces much but I was very impressed. It's a bit BBQ-y but much nicer than the sweet sludgy crap that most BBQ sauces are. Also a keeper!

I am pro-vaccine. Also a research scientist here. I have a child with ASD and it insults me that people would attribute that to a vaccine. The research had been widely discredited. In our case, DS was certainly not above a diagnostic threshold before his 1-yr vaccines (MMR etc) but I can see his traits building over time as he matured, and starting before that vaccine. DD will get all the vaccines. Measles can kill a child.

Rant over!

Am feeling very lazy today re housework. My Hoover wasn't happy yesterday so I didn't get everything done as I spent an hour taking it apart to find out what was blocking it. I should finish today but cba.

I was interviewed this morning by a Consultancy company who are working in my field. I gave them lots of help - not paid but you never know what might open up later, I'm just trying to stay on the radar while I am off work. Heading out soon to meet my new mum friend for lunch (the one with the younger probable ASD child) and then I will go to watch DS in his nursery easter parade. I bet he refuses to wear the 'Easter in Sodor' hat that I lovingly created yesterday (via extensive use of old thomas decorations, stapler and tissue paper Grin).

Need to think of something for dinner and pop to the shops. My sister is here tonight too so I am cooking for an extra one. Not pasta again. And she doesn't eat fish. Hmm.

We pay a fortune for Sky. It's in DH's name so he needs to call them. I must step up the nagging.

ChristmasSeacow · 12/04/2017 11:54

I am sure you will get the beauty business off the ground Fluffy but i guess it will take a bit of time before it can support you both. Can DH change jobs in the meantime? Even if same industry, different company? It's so miserable doing a job you hate Sad

mammymammyIRL · 12/04/2017 12:08

Seacow could I have your sisters pack up please?
I would have loved a takeaway last night but I had this instead, leftover lemon garlic chicken gone wrong with steamfresh veg(they're not frugal & the waste of packaging is incredible but I love them & they make me eat veg so worth it!)

I started taking magnesium before bed as advised by nutritional therapist whose course I attended in January & alternative therapist from last week, I've slept very soundly each night since.

Em I would think similarly about baby vaccines as they've been well tested. I'm unsure of hpv vaccine but have about 5 years to make my mind up Smile

Best I'm not in uk so now tv isn't an option for me afaik. Android box essentially makes a regular tv into a smart tv. You stream what you're watching from the internet via android box. You download apps via google play store like YouTube, iplayer, showbox etc there's an operating system called Kodi which you can load builds which make it very straightforward to chose what you wish to watch. It has a menu system for movies/series/tv shows/sport. You'd need a speed of 3+ Mbps for comfortable viewing.
Mine cost about €50 from Amazon including a keyboard remote
We're not into sports but I hear that it's easy to access it with android box

Fluffy you will achieve that savings goal no problem you're determined & smart at working all the systems to get best value

Snuggly rest your mil took dd1 so you could rest & you're doing chores, take some time out while you can

I took some time off last thurs & started later on fri so my wages are less obviously enough this week Sad

All accounts are low at the moment. I'm off a couple of days next week so going to go close a dormant account of mine & retrieve the €50 balance. This will go towards lunch with a former colleague who finishes up her Unislim classes this week & day out for dds birthday.

I just spent €5 on raffle tickets. They're for a good cause locally

ememem84 · 12/04/2017 12:48

sunny don't worry we're vaccinating. It just makes sense to me. why would you not.

I gave midwife the Hmm when she asked. And very quickly answered yes. It's being done. No brainer.

Spends today £17.50 on white roses for my house. £16 on Easter eggs. 75p crisps. £1.09 post office. Spendy.

LonelyOversharer · 12/04/2017 12:48

So bored so dp is coming to get us. Stupid waste of fuel as well.

Dd1 has had her cervical cancer jabs (is that the hpv? Am clueless), mine have had everything offered. I'm another one who would rather have a teary baby for two minutes than have them die of measles. I've said before, but we think ds' missing enamel was down to me having whooping cough early on in his pregnancy. I'll feel guilty forever, but the dentist said he can feel his adult teeth in his gums now.

No plants, no wool. Hate my postie, I'm sure he keeps packages an extra day in his van!

CremeEggThief · 12/04/2017 13:01

If it helps, the 2 desserts were an ice cream sundae, in an ice cream parlour, and poached peaches with mascara one, so probably not quite as indulgent as it sounded! So I'm trying to convince myself today

Fluffy, you will definitely achieve your goal. You are so focused and determined and have already got a lot of the beauty training under your belt. Would you consider being a mobile beautician, to save on the costs of renting premises? People on the Mums in... page on my Facebook are always asking for recommendations for mobile hairdressers and beauticians. It's a lot easier and cheaper if you're working full time and/or at home with kids.

Need, how are DPony and your mother today?

Em, I'm another who sees more reason to vaccinate than not. I don't really understand the anguish some parents feel around the issue, as it really isn't a big deal, IME.

Should be another NSD here. DS is going away tomorrow morning for the rest of the Easter holidays, so just making sure all his clothes are washed and dried (mainly on the line, then probably finished off in the dryer later), so he can pack tonight. Also need to do a few chores I couldn't be bothered to do on Monday. Which reminds me that I hope you're actually resting a bit now, Snuggly, after pegging your washing out!Wink

CremeEggThief · 12/04/2017 13:03

Mascara one?Confused Mascarpone!

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/04/2017 13:10

I'm so glad to hear everyone is pro-vaccine. It boggles my mind when people aren't.

We've to visit a pediatric cardiologist to have ds's heart checked today. Fortunately this one's being covered by insurance. Just hoping ds lets the guy do the checks. All fingers crossed. wish he'd check mine too

mammymammyIRL · 12/04/2017 14:05

Yep lonely that's the hpv one for cervical cancer. But I think jade goodys death was enough to convince most

SunnyLikeThursday · 12/04/2017 14:09

I asked about the HPV one but I was refused it because neither dh or I had ever got up to anything with anyone else. Apparently the virus is sexually transmitted, so it's not possible that I could have caught it. I was kind of pleased that there was finally an upside to being so straight-laced. Grin

OP posts:
mammymammyIRL · 12/04/2017 14:10

Grin sunny

Cagliostro · 12/04/2017 14:55

:o I was tested for HPV after my last smear as it showed borderline changes. But it was clear so they didn't do anything

Seacow agree re vaccines and autism. The insinuation that it's a disease and something dreadful that must be avoided at all costs. Compared to an actual disease (or several as not just measles) that can actually kill people.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/04/2017 14:59

Thank you creme, mammy & sea. I'm just having a Moan. I'd do nails & tanning as mobile as a last resort. I want to offer waxing too and it'd be tricky transporting the wax. I wouldn't offer any men's treatments & I believe the industry's exempt to the sexual discrimination act on that front. Apparently they confuse beautician with prostitute.

An old freind was a beauty therapist & got asked if she did extras during a back massage do she said I can see you've quite a few blackheads so I'll do a back mask. Charged him an extra £45 😂. The previous therapist had offered extras unfortunately.

I can never believe people refuse vaccinations.

£2.18 jeggings in sainsbos. Bright red. Sale stuff is also 25% off. I put the leather look ones back, they looked tight and I have hot cross bun retention.
£3 homebargains. Acrylic tips for my nail practice hand, scourers, Dylon colour run sheets.

Still trying to get my head around matched betting. It's becoming clearer. Cag would be good at it, math skills are needed.

Cagliostro · 12/04/2017 15:11

Maybe I'll take a look fluff :o

Loveabaconsandwich · 12/04/2017 15:15

Definitely pro-vaccine here and I'm no scientist. Just common sense!

£1 milk in Tesco
£21 food in m&s - got sucked in by the £5 off £25 spend
£30 Pizza Hut

Although we got conned in by m&s we have some nice looking food and it is close enough to our house for DD to scoot there and for me to walk. This is my first proper shop there so need to not like it too much!

Painting is going well. Hopefully off to choose new curtains in a bit so more £s

needastrongone · 12/04/2017 16:14

M&S food simply is the best food about Love, no shame in heeding it's charms. Smile

Ahem Fluffster, I believe I did also give you personal kudos on your plans Grin

Seacow I think you are allowed to give yourself a break from the cleaning at this stage.

Thanks for asking again about the pony and mother!

The pony is hobbling a bit now, which is better than no weight baring at all, he tried to made a bid for freedom from his stable this morning but didn't manage to get very far, DD and me were rolling about laughing.

DM is coming home, with an out patient appointment for a another cardio scan, but they don't seem to think it was a heart attack. DB1 has gone to get her. I've stocked up her fridge with M&S food. She actually called me for the hospital to collect her. Her words were 'I've called you because I couldn't get hold of your DB'. Right. Nice to be wanted Grin

Spends.
Ocado delivery.
£20 M&S food for DM.

Cagliostro · 12/04/2017 16:20

Ah need you are doing a sterling job of keeping that moral high ground my dear. A friend is going through similar with her mum at the mo and good lord it must be exhausting doing the right thing while still being told you aren't good enough :( you're doing the right thing though. And good news that's it's not a heart attack! Thanks

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/04/2017 16:21

Sorry Need Blush

Poor pony but no one would let him back in a field yet.

allthebestplease · 12/04/2017 17:11

mammy is the amazon €50 a one off payment for the box? I shall investigate further about sky sports. When we move house we will cancel sky and then rebuy it in my name to get the half price deal.
Today at lunch ended up being frugal, a friend bought me a drink, then my lunch soup wasn't very nice so I complained and they gave ne a free glass of wine. Wine
need you do more than you should, so well done.

CremeEggThief · 12/04/2017 17:28

Need, delighted to hear about the pony. On the bright side, there can't be too much wrong with your mother; sounds as if she's back to her normal selfSmile. You always manage to be the bigger person.Star

Gosh, Fluffy, I hadn't thought of that WRT to men and beauty. I wouldn't blame you for not offering mobile treatments to them.

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/04/2017 17:47

Free tube of primula on shopmium app. Don't pretend you don't like it Grin

creme I've had podiatry patients try to snog me 🙄

ChristmasSeacow · 12/04/2017 17:51

Grin Fluffy at hot cross bun retention. I am retaining everything ATM! I had never thought about the possibility of sex discrimination in the beauty business Hmm

Good news on the pony Need and also your mum (in order of importance Wink).

I love mascara in a pudding Creme Grin

I quite like M&S foods though got a bit bored of their lunch offerings after going almost daily for 2 years when I was working Blush. There's a Simply Food opening on my local high street soon. I imagine I will be a frequent visitor when I have a newborn - hope it opens before DD arrives!

Had lunch with friend in a local independent cafe - quite expensive and I wouldn't mind but it was a bit dry. Baguette was huge and very overcooked crusty and it dwarfed the filling (chorizo, manchego, roasted peppers and rocket - sounded so promising!) So was rather dry and hard to eat. Carrot cake was good though.

Went to see DS's easter parade on our village green. I tried to hide behind a tree but he spotted me. He was delighted to see me but then got very upset at the idea of going back to nursery (as I thought he might) so I had to bring him home. Which meant no opportunity to get a top-up grocery shop. I have stuff in for an emergency chilli but the mince is frozen. I am staring at it in the hope it makes it defrost quicker. It doesn't seem to be helping.
