Well done lonely on the overdraft Star

Well, my turn for a bit of a boast. I have put two loads of washing on and hung it out to dry. Mowed the front grass. Tidied under the stairs cupboard. Thrown out a load of old magazines that the kids have destroyed. All whilst DP is out with kids at PIL. I was originally going to go shopping Blush . Now having a Brew before tackling another job.

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/03/2017 10:58

I do love a Yankee candle especially the fruity smelling ones. They last ages. Although my current one is a flowery smelling one which I don't overly like and will probably take me about two years to burn. But I will be frugal and use it

Taytocrisps · 25/03/2017 10:59

Popping in to say 'Hi'. Real life took over for a bit but I've been thinking of you lot and hope everyone's ok.

I just read back as far as page 24. Was there a troll? Some lovely posters seem to be rather upset Angry.

I did my monthly stock up via Tesco yesterday and it's due today. It was €166.60 + €6 delivery charge. DH gets paid monthly so I do a big shop when he gets paid and I stock on cleaning stuff, dry goods, loo rolls etc. Then we just need to top up with fresh food during the month.

I need to ask the chemist about a good moisturizer for dry skin. My skin has been very dry and irritable lately. I think the central heating is drying it out, especially my legs.

There's a charity coffee morning here today so I'll either buy a coffee or pick up some cakes.

Brightermornings · 25/03/2017 11:01

Hi everyone I am feeling so much better than the start of the week. I think the sunshine helps.1 load of washing out 2nd in the washer.
It's been a fairly average spend week. Debating wether to buy a George foreman only a small one. My last one broke. Im doing burgers for tea.
Ds is home he bought mcds for breakfast.
Well done on the overdraft. That's my plan at the moment it is going down but I'm not quite there yet.

ememem84 · 25/03/2017 11:04

Since everyone's boasting about doing washing....one load taken out of washer and hung up to dry and another one in and washing as we speak. With another lined up to be put on this afternoon. #smug

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/03/2017 11:08

Well done on the overdraft.
The IKEA candles in a glass jar are nice about 95p each. I have the lilac one in my kitchen and it smells lovely.
£15 butchers, £79 sainsbury but DD owes me £20, £5 footy, £10 pocket money

ChristmasSeacow · 25/03/2017 11:15

Great result on the overdraft Lonely and the passport Wreck. LOts of time left for Oxford Street Wink

Hello Tayto there was a troll, I missed it before it was deleted. Then another person pointing out that we share a lot of info and may not all be telling the unvarnished truth. We are mostly unrepentant but take the point about anonymity, hence some name changes.

I have just collected a breastfeeding cushion from a FB seller for £5. Never used and lovely pattern, am really pleased with that. Got a friend coming round to help with the lemon drizzle cake today (making way for the planned lime and coconut cake up next Wink) and we are planning a lovely day in the garden giving it a bit of a prune and tidy up. DH is going to the tip later today or tomorrow but doesn't yet know it. He will be delighted. I might even push my luck and mention grass cutting.

Ocado is coming later £72. Probably not a whole week's meals as I ran out of time and inspiration before planning a whole week, but we have stuff in the freezer. It includes a lot of nappies though and a few cleaning bits. Still need to buy some fruit locally, and a paper. Only other soends today will be £8.99 for a new series of Thomas for the iPad. I am sick of the two series we have and the cost per watch is very low in this house! Now to remember my iTunes password...

Wildernesstips · 25/03/2017 11:17

Fluffy have you priced up the blinds at blinds2go? I bought two blinds (horizontal pleat thermal) for my kitchen last year and they were really reasonable - think about £120 for the two. Would definitely use them again.

Cagliostro · 25/03/2017 11:28

Thanks for all the thoughts on the candles! 🕯 I shall check out those other brands too. I won't be using up my current ones for a little while yet so no rush.

Everyone is being so productive! I am not. :o DH has asked me what I want for dinner (as he's working most of Mother's Day) and I can't choose because I am still feeling sick and (very very rarely for me!) not really feeling the whole food thing. I am therefore in a grump.

I have loads to do though, phone/internet and payment related mostly. So best crack on with the stuff I can do while curled up under a blanket! :o

lifelongfrugaleer · 25/03/2017 11:28

247 blinds are good too

CremeEggThief · 25/03/2017 12:03

Cag, I like Yankee Candle wax tarts. They're much cheaper and you can break them up into small chunks. When you get bored of a scent, or it's run out, stick the burner in the freezer for a few hours and then tap the frozen wax and it slides out, without much residue. I do this part in the sink. I like seaside smells, cotton and fresh linen and citrus fruits best.

Cagliostro · 25/03/2017 13:04

Ooh yes I was wondering about those little ones they seem to be very 'in' at the moment, is it just any burner you can use (like an essential oil burner) or is it a Yankee specific gadget?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/03/2017 13:49

I am always shocked at how much those posh candles go for!! I buy mine from Dun Elm for £1 Grin I don't think I could bring myself to spend any more on what is basically just wax and wick but thats just me!!

Sounds like a good night Need Grin

Welcome back Tayto its been a funny few days on here but hopefully things are settling back to normal now

Dd is at a rehearsal all day today for a show tonight, bless her she was so nervous this morning. Really looking forward to seeing the show later though, should be good. Met a friend for a lovely coffee in the sun, it felt very continental drinking tea/coffee outside in the sunshine!

My friend paid which was nice, I popped to Poundland and spent £7 on various toiletries.

Plan to do some housework this afternoon which has been neglected due to work being so busy this week, hopefully will get out in the garden for a bit as well....

CremeEggThief · 25/03/2017 13:54

Any ceramic burners, Cag and tartlets are usually £1-3 each.

ememem84 · 25/03/2017 14:31

girlie its bonkers isn't it? I bet they're all made in the same place too.

I couldn't justify the £35 myself on the lovely smelling lovely poshcandle. But if someone wants to gift them to me will gratefully accept.

Taytocrisps · 25/03/2017 14:35

What a fabulous day! It's like a summer's day, except for a very faint cool breeze.

My Tesco delivery is arriving late so I picked up some ingredients for lunch (approx. €4), Tiger bread for €2.45 and aqueous cream for €4.25.

I missed the coffee morning Blush. That's what I get for faffing about online. I guess I did my wallet and waist some favours.

We're meeting up with friends tomorrow for a visit to the Japanese Gardens in Kildare. Hope we get weather like this. It will cost us €11.50 per adult x 2 plus €6.50 for DD. But I've asked DH not to buy me anything for Mother's Day. I'd prefer a nice day out with friends than a 'thing'.

Girlie enjoy DD's show tonight. Hope it goes well.

Cag hope you feel better soon Flowers

Cagliostro · 25/03/2017 15:17

Oh fuck. Signing in briefly to post what amounts to my least frugal comment ever on this thread.

Turns out the whole feeling sick thing had a rather different cause than I thought.

Spends today, £5 pregancy test.

So yeah.

cag holy moly! FlowersCakeBrew

LonelyOversharer · 25/03/2017 15:37

Oh cag !! This is good news, right? Your posts have been sounding a tad broody, so I was wondering.

I have been much more weepy than normal troll or no troll I have a coil (how's that for oversharing!) but am quietly waiting for what passes as a period to put my mind at rest!

Superb day here, so warm. Been for a pedal, lumpier than yesterday, profile below for need 18 miles. Also popped to garden centre (plants £13) and asda £12, but forgot salmon for our tea. As dp and I had left over casserole for lunch we'll have poached eggs instead.

Frugaleers Marching on!
Cagliostro · 25/03/2017 15:58

It's good news really but absolutely fucking terrifying news also Blush

Not gonna lie, it's far from ideal. Really really far. Sorry for TMI but we've been together 14 years and never had any accidents and now... erm, OOPS. 🙄

At the same time though lonely you aren't wrong with the broodiness 😂😳 so yeah... Good news really, because tiny Caglet, what's not to love?

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/03/2017 15:58

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 25/03/2017 15:59

Cross post CONGRATULATIONS!!!! So exciting, have you worked out how many weeks you are?

Loveabaconsandwich · 25/03/2017 16:04

Aww, it's allowed to be terrifyingly exciting cag

Coppersulphate · 25/03/2017 16:07

OMG Cag, there's a surprise....at least to me. Are you pleased or shocked or both?
I think it must be something to do with this thread. Perhaps it's the result of over sharing!
First Italian, then Snuggly, Christmas, Em and now you. Thankfully I am past childbearing age.
Busy day. Planted a row of first early potatoes ( Rocket variety), two rows of onions (sets) a row of shallots and a row of beetroot. All covered with fleece because the wood pigeons here are very big and hungry.
No washing done...failure.
Spends £6 at local farmers' market.
