Aw snuggly I remember feeling the same about DS when I was about to have DD (he had just turned two) - I know it will he harder with twins, but it was all grand, and now they are good little friends at 2 and 4 - I try to give DD individual attention while DS is at nursery, and DS after she goes to bed. Tonight we played teletubbies memory cards. He won, 14 pairs to 10 Wink

Small frugal win, I had 20 quid set aside for a 2 kids birthday presents this month but used my boots points, theres a 3 for 2 on toys so used 20 worth of points and sorted 3 birthdays (one in april) and transferred the 20 quid back into my purse. Going to try and use vouchers / points for presents this year as much as possible

HorseDentist · 01/03/2017 20:41

If it is any consolation it once took my OH three days to notice my hair was 14inches shorter after a pretty dramatic haircut.

Ok here goes, spends today was £22.50 on a new bra, I was pretty desperate as I had underwiring stabbing me with every moment.

Cagliostro · 01/03/2017 20:59

Whoa 4 pages already! Thanks so much for the advice on balance transfers. Will get going on that next week.

I'm sure I heard something about applying for lots of credit cards having a bad effect on your credit rating? Or something? Neither of us have ever applied for a credit card other than our first ones which were with the bank we were already with, and that was 10 years ago, so I have no idea how it all works! (BTW it'll be DH doing the transfer not me as my CC is empty

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/03/2017 21:16

Fuck a duck can anything else go wrong. Looks like we have woodlice in our loft. Need to check the extractor fan isn't causing damp.

Bread looks nice, better than the loafs I used to get.
Well done on the school place.
Ah snuggly, it will be different but in a good way.
Welcome horse. No rules. We are here for various reasons. Mine is to never pay full price for anything.
Welcome back 8
Good luck with the 3 peaks need. Sounds like a good training goal to have.
That roller is lovely.
My sense of smell is still super. The work toilets frequently make me gag

Nsd

MeadowHay · 01/03/2017 21:17

Cag Yes if you apply for lots of CC cards it does have a small negative affect but that's only if you get turned down for them I think? Maybe someone can correct me if I'm wrong. And given you haven't applied for one for ages it shouldn't be a problem.

I checked with the Chair of the uni Law Society as well as an acquaintance who has been to similar events before and they both said my outfit would be fine. If I have the energy I could go into town tomorrow after uni and have a gander round the shops but realistically I will probably be too tired. I did have a quick look on Next website and couldn't see any proper suits? A few months ago DH and I went around pretty much everywhere and the only place I could find with proper suits was M&S. It's ridiculous how difficult it is to buy a suit as a woman, all men's shops have a suits section!

I was so tired before I went to bed at 5pm and woke up at 8pm, blergh. Need to be in uni 9am tomorrow. Starting to struggle without DH now, haven't managed any housework since Sunday which was the day he left. Watching Benidorm now though which gives me a giggle.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/03/2017 21:20

Cag, applying for any credit makes a mark on your file. Too many credit marks in a short time frame can have an adverse effect on your credit rating. Martin money saver does a prediction thing on acceptance liklyhood for credit without leaving a marker. It's not guaranteed but will give an indication.

Does the card company you have offer a 0% on the one you have empty? You can transfer debt from any card if i recall correctly.

lifelongfrugaleer · 01/03/2017 21:22

Meadow, of you feel confident in the dress wear it. A dress and jacket sounds fine. If you feel inclined what about some new accessories to go with it? Bag, scarf, statement jewelry?

ememem84 · 01/03/2017 21:23

Ifs bizarre re smells. I can't stand fresh coffee (which I previously use to love) Sad
The taste is fine. Just not the smell. But one doesn't come without the other.

Dhs aftershave smells strange. And my shampoo in the shower makes me feel a bit odd. So have to shower quickly on hair wash days!!

Dh is in London tonight. Catface is being strange I was expecting her to be on the bed with me. But she's ignoring me.

allthebestplease · 01/03/2017 21:23

Em My sense of smell went into overdrive during pregnancy and never went back and ds is nearly 7. Shock It's astonishingly inconvenient. No idea what the answer is.

I' moderately excited about doing my numbers this month, having spent very little on the house, for once.

Cagliostro · 01/03/2017 21:49

My nose was my enemy in pregnancy too. I worked in Richmond during my first, and I absolutely dreaded this little cafe right by my office building, I'd have to hold my breath walking past as the food smell made me feel sick. On my way back to the station I lived for walking past the body shop as I loved the smell so much.

Ipsomatic · 01/03/2017 21:59

Yay! My numbers are good this month.

I saved a fair bit from having 3 fewer days in the month, and I also spent almost nothing on the house. The shares that I have bought went up arbitrarily by £400, which means nothing as they may go down next month, but it all helped. Yay!

I really encourages me to try to do that again. Apart from anything, our house is full so spending nothing on things makes a lot of sense. Smile

ChristmasSeacow · 01/03/2017 22:44

Meadow if your dress is smart then that will be fine. Smart dress + jacket was my preferred work uniform even in very senior jobs. (Dresses = fewer parts to think about/put together and most of mine didn't need ironing. Win win)

Needastrongone · 01/03/2017 23:00

Snuggly I felt EXACTLY the same with DS when DD came along, totally normal. I tried to ensure if I could that when DD had a nap, I did something specific and individual with DS. Just for 15 minutes sometimes. Or read the bedtime story. DS doesn't even remember not having DD in his life. They are close now and I truly believe that having a sibling is A Very Good Thing, if at all possible.

Guys, I am running the 3 peaks Smile. Probably in about 7 hours, possibly 8 depending on weather and the group I am running with. I run a lot, close to 10 miles a day including dog walks, I've done 35k steps today. I run a lot on the trail and do tons of XC. I live in Yorkshire so everywhere I run has hills. We are splitting into teams of 4 of equal paces. I now it's challenging, that's the point. Grin Doing a trail race next month where we have to wade through a river using a rope as the current is so strong. I like weird stuff!

Welcome Horse.

Lovely sounding soup Seacow, totally my thing. I'm struggling at the minute as everyone needs to eat at different times. Finding different menu choices to cope with that is hard, any ideas?

Bluefluff · 01/03/2017 23:04

Just sat down and done March and aprils budgets. Car insurance coming up in April, was £700 last year as I needed business insurance, hoping without the business part it will be less this year! £700 feels steep!

Ipsomatic · 01/03/2017 23:09

Oh my, it's really really obvious from my energy monitor that the weather has changed. About a week ago I actually turned the heating right off, and it didn't really make any difference. I've turned it back on again at the moment but I'm not sure it's needed much now.

Morning all.

Great night sleep here. Must be something to do with dh not being here - was able to stretch right out.

Seminar this morning about holding art assets and the dangers of divorce/family disputes. Should be interesting (and there'll be breakfast!!)

Should hopefully also be nsd.

WreckTangled · 02/03/2017 07:05

I had a great nights sleep as well. I didn't even hear Ds wake up multiple times according to Dh Grin

I have a hospital appointment at 8am today 😱 need to leave soon. I have to be nil by mouth too so haven't had coffee yet 😭

Hopefully be a LSD.

SnugglySnerd · 02/03/2017 07:06

Our energy bill for February is horrendous! I've been home the whole month so have probably had the heating, kettle etc on more than usual plus I washed and tumble dried a tonne of baby stuff out of the loft so that probably explains it but for a short month it's worse than ever!
Our water bill is massive too but I think that might be quarterly which would explain it. I need to investigate that.

It's helpful to know others felt the same as me about their second babies. At the moment I feel a bit guilty but I expect that will subside when they are older.

Need the 3 Peaks, are you insane??? I'm really impressed, I'm too lazy to run anywhere although I intend to try and get fitter once these babies arrive.

lifelongfrugaleer · 02/03/2017 07:32

Morning

Last of wbd costume fabric today. Also signing on line for boiler.
Have also run out of some fruit so to up needed.

ememem84 · 02/03/2017 07:33

I imagine our bill will be horrendous. It's been wet and cold and stuff just isn't drying. The heater in our spare room has been on low pretty much constantly since January. And the tumble driers been used more than it should.

wreck hope all goes well at the hospital.

need I've heard about the 3 peaks. You must be insane! But good on you! Girl power and all that!!

Right. I've had some toast. And am now off to the hotel for my seminar and bacon roll. Grin

CremeEggThief · 02/03/2017 07:38

My February bill would have been the same for December, if it were as long, and less than January, so pleased with that.

Spends for yesterday were £30.50 total. We went to see Mark Thomas, a Socialist political commentator and comedian, who I've followed since the 90s, last night. He was excellent. It was a sell-out show, which I was surprised by.

Welcome back 8Fences and all newbies.Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/03/2017 07:47

Oh I love him, I used to have his shows on cd in my car but I lost them.

My parents went to see him years ago to.

CremeEggThief · 02/03/2017 07:52

Oh do you, Fluffy? He was just as good as ever; I was saying to DS it must be at least 10 or 11 years since I saw him last, when DS was only 3 or 4.
