Just spent £70 on asos (via topcashback) on 2 pairs of maternity jeans and a couple of skirts.

Needastrongone · 15/03/2017 17:56

Glad you are okay Seacow. It's understandable to be anxious about your DS, it's understandable even without his additional needs. My own experience is that the reality is hardly ever as bad as the perception. You are one of the most practical and sensible folk on here, I am sure you will handle this just great as a parent.

Glad you are okay Wrecked.

I've just donated £60 to the Africa Appeal rather than browse the Hush site and buy something I don't need.

Accountant has been doing some number crunching. DH is very upbeat as business is er, busy and the company has been valued at a high figure. Accountant would prefer we took more out than we do, but that's not how we work. DH has declared a good dividend again for the year, we make a enough, it's irrelevant where the money is, it still is owned by us.

That said DH got home at 9pm last night and set off to a job at 3.30am, he has a huge meeting tomorrow 2 hours drive away, starting at 8.30am Thursday. He won't be home until 8pm tonight. Hey ho.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/03/2017 18:01

Hello all not caught up with the thread completely but glad your appointment went o.kay Wreck def allow yourself some nice treats tonight for being brave Star

Glad you are feeling a bit better Christmas sinus infections are horrible, enjoy your evening out.

Toast my dd was was a late talker, she had glue ear and it delayed her speech a bit, she soon caught up though. Had your dd had an hearing test?

Em don't go mad on buying baby stuff, they seriously don't need much at least at first. I spent a fortune on pram for dd that she hated and was awkward to push about, it lasted all of 3 months and then got dumped!! Even now I could cry at how much money it was was!! I would wait a bit, look out for things as they come up on offer and see what stuff you get given as well. I was given lots for dd, the moses basket and cot were given to me by friends.

Its been a beautiful day here as well, gorgeous sunshine - unfortunately i have been a work so not really been able to appreciate it. Dds new dvd has turned up The BFG so she is watching that now, its a lovely film Smile

She has handed me a letter about a school residential in May, weirdly it had a note attached to it that said dd is in receipt of a pupil premium Confused Hmm thats news to me!! I think it must be a mistake so will check with the school tomorrow, the trip (if dd isn't eligible for the pupil premium) is £150 Shock can't believe they have only given as 6 weeks to find the money!! The last residential she went on I had a year to pay for it which is much more reasonable.

LSD £1.20 on a drink.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2017 18:02

Well, spent about £120 in Dunelm, mainly on curtains and a curtain pole (also a cushion and some storage baskets, all for the baby's room). Pleased I didn't succumb to candles /scissors /strange rubber drainage mats etc.

Then I went to Homebase and tried to get some paint samples. Rather annoyed that they were out of stock for lots of the ones I wanted to try, and they can't be ordered in Hmm. The colour i most like (in theory) is an own brand one, the whole big pot was only £10 but no tester in stock. I didn't buy the big pot but rather wish I had, it'd probably be cheaper than driving further to another branch for a tester! Anyway, I spent about £50 there, more than half on a pot of fancy primer that I need for the woodwork. Nothing frivolous again, yay me!

Then instead of doing any cleaning I crashed out - a late lunch and a nap before getting DS from nursery. My dusty rooms and grubby floors are really getting me down after 10 days of total inaction on the housework front but I just run out of steam so easily. Hope I will rally when I throw off the last of this cold.

Beautiful day here though - I walked to DS's nursery without a coat for the first time this year and was still so warm. It feels as though spring is really here and it does lift my spirits!

ememem84 · 15/03/2017 18:07

Don't worrie girlie no baby stuffs been bought. Yet. Just jeans and skirts for me. I will need stuff before baby will.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2017 18:15

Cross posted with Need - I know a wobble is normal really, but thanks for the vote of confidence! Business sounds good your way, well deserved though, you all work really hard for it.

Girlie would the pupil premium mean DD's place is funded, or at least subsidised? That would be a help, especially with the short notice. I guess they can't make residential trips mandatory but if she is keen to go it would be a pity to miss out.

I too spent far too much On a pram first time round. To be fair it wasn't a total dud, I loved it, but it didn't really fold down enough and took up most of the car boot. You live and learn.

Thomas et al is going through a renaissance in our house at the moment - DS can't get enough of his wooden track and engines. I am required to think of an engine for every letter of the alphabet as I type. Google is my friend but DS still thinks I am simply magic Grin.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2017 18:15

Damned right em, and you won't shit yourself while wearing it either.

£4 tea & lettuce. I only wanted smart price tea but saw a colleague of dhs in another aisle and bought gold label in case they saw me buying cheap tea.

Nearly got enough in vouchers for the cushions I need for the steamer chairs. £23 short.

ememem84 · 15/03/2017 18:35

I'd better fucking not fluffy does that happen later on...?! If it does I'd actually rather not know about it

I could murder a wine right now. Sky is a funny blue pink colour it's been such a nice day. And I'm feeling super chill.

Have settled for a ginger beer with ice and a lime wedge.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2017 18:50

I'm not the woman to ask, if it does we will pretend not to notice.

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 15/03/2017 18:54

em skybluepink we call it. I miss it, don't get it oop north. No, bladder gets a bit urgent later on if your baby decides it's a football or pillow, but poo only sometimes happens giving birth.

Spent £25 in morrisons, but £12 of that was batteries for the shop, will pinch it back. My bricks are here, but it's now dark after making tea, chicken and peas in creamy sauce pasta, homemade garlic bread; so I must wait to get on. When do the clocks change? I need more evening light!

Dd2 had her asthma review, needs another inhaler as she's still not right after her chest infection.

WreckTangled · 15/03/2017 18:56

Not likely with your first em. You may poo in labour. Meh. Dh still reckons I didn't I know otherwise

We are feeling pretty poor right now and we're going to have to start paying a childminder when we get back from NZ. Thank god for the bank of dad Blush he's going to lend us some to keep us going as I won't get paid for two months. Even so I'm feeling really happy with life Smile

Managed to pick up a lovely birthday present for ds' friend in sainsburys. It's a big generic my little pony thing you can do its hair etc and it was only £3.99.

ememem84 · 15/03/2017 19:13

Oh my good lord. I had no idea that might happen. 💩

Have to be up early doors tomorrow as need to drop my car off for its service at 830. Ddad is picking me up from garage and we are going for breakfast.

I'm estimating probably around £400 for the service. I know oil will be changed and a lightbulb needs sorting.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2017 19:33

Yep, pooing during childbirth is a thing. Happens quite often although As it happens I didn't (I wasn't too bothered either way, you leave your dignity at the door anyhow!). Worse is the weeing. Not a problem in first pregnancy but I wasn't quite watertight after the delivery and it's worse now in pregnancy again Blush

MeadowHay · 15/03/2017 19:35

One of my friends used to be a midwife and she told me how lots of ladies poop when giving birth in a birthing pool and they the midwives have to fish it out the water as quickly as possible and pretend it didn't happen so as not embarrass the mum Grin. Not that it's embarrassing really anyway as its so common.

Cagliostro · 15/03/2017 19:50

Yep it happens em but TBH you probably won't even notice let alone care 😀💩

2 pupils today plus got some cash for some kids books that I sold. Hurrah!

ememem84 · 15/03/2017 19:55

STOP LYING TO ME!!

Haha!

Beeneatingburnttoast · 15/03/2017 20:04

When you give birth em any type of modesty you have goes out the window and you really won't care Grin. After birth I was in a hospital room and some poor bloke came in to sell something and I just did not care about having my boobs out, in the slightest Blush

Thanks for your reassurance about DDs talking. I don't think her speech is any less advanced than her older sister, and now her older sister has no concept about being quiet! I'm sure little DD can hear fine, she was giving the most cheeky looks to the health visitor yesterday whilst staying silent

Long day today. Had a stroppy email off someone at work but it was one of these shooting the messenger type situation. I love being the messenger Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/03/2017 20:23

Wouldn't it be fab to just tell people to fuck off?

Beeneatingburnttoast · 15/03/2017 20:30

Totally agree fluffy. Not sure if that was aimed at me Grin

Ah, well done Meadow for getting through your exam especially as you were feeling unwell Star

lifelongfrugaleer · 15/03/2017 20:33

£14 in Morrison's.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 15/03/2017 21:03

Christmas but surely I would know if dd had the pupil premium? Wouldn't that entitle her to free school dinners, sadly I think I earn too much which is a joke given the pittance i'm paid Grin will double check though, if she has got it would be fab as the cost of the trip goes from £150 to £40 Shock

Em so funny Grin I didn't crap myself so I reckon everyone is lying as well Wink although I had an emcs so never actually got to the pushing bit.......

allthebestplease · 15/03/2017 21:21

If it's an educational trip then you're entitled to not pay at all, whether you're fsm or not. You just write a letter.

Not sure if this has been mentioned before but there's a lot of good talks on anxiety, happiness, science, ideas etc on Ted Talks. They're brilliant. I like these https://www.ted.com/playlists/8/abetterr_you

Dd keeps asking to go to the ice cream van parked out side of school (why oh why?) so instead I bought a box of lollies for £1 she was happy with her rocket lolly Smile

Beeneatingburnttoast · 15/03/2017 21:29

girlie will ask DP about pupil premium in a bit, Is his line of work so he should know. I'm fairly sure you have to declare yourself eligible for pupil premium though so may be an admin error

All school trip payments are voluntary, you don't have to pay but should be able to go. Trips could be cancelled if not enough voluntary payments are made. Or school can get funding grants (if it's something like science) to go towards educational visits

Needastrongone · 15/03/2017 21:51

I'm quite happy just to tell folk to fuck off GrinGrin

It is ALL true Em, every single last bit ha ha.

ChristmasSeacow · 15/03/2017 23:16

I'm not sure if you would necessarily know Girlie. It's not my area of expertise, I shall be interested in any light shed by Toast's DH though.

Em I never would have imagined how many different people could possibly manhandle my boobs in the quest to breastfeed. I was resigned to letting pretty much anyone have a crack at them would have drawn the line at FIL though . No dignity. It's all true Grin
