Fluffy do you think I could order one over the phone? Nearest one is miles away Hmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/02/2017 08:22

You'd have to ring and ask them, some dealerships are hotter on security than others.

SnugglySnerd · 05/02/2017 09:26

Morning all!

Plan for today is to get various jobs done around the house. DH is just nipping out first for bananas and yoghurt, we have run out of both which constitutes a disaster here!

ItalianWiking84 · 05/02/2017 09:28

Someone take my phone and internet off me please Blush spent 15£ on a doc mcstuffins toy for dd (for her birthday so will be hidden and reduced from 40£) , 10£ for a picture poster for pil and 40£ Shock on super bowl bones meal deal... yikes... clearly not a very frugal day. Need yo really rein in spends...

WreckTangled · 05/02/2017 09:31

Going to make leek and potato soup for lunch as have bits that need using up. Yum. Just had a sausage sandwich too. Now I want cake.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/02/2017 09:48

Morning all, its dds swimming party day today - eek! My mum is coming over to help with putting the cake together and suggested taking us out to lunch (party isn't till 5pm) so should be a good day. Was having weird party disaster dreams last night, including finding my legs were covered in ulcers.... i have been a nurse too long Grin luckily they look fine now Wink

Pic of cake to follow...

ememem84 · 05/02/2017 09:50

Dh is a legend. He just told me he'd bought me a gift for being pg. then showed me what he'd bought.

Two boxes of salt and vinegar squares. 64 packets. Absolute legend. Grin

WreckTangled · 05/02/2017 10:07

Hope the party goes well girlie! I've never met her but I love you mum Smile

Em that's awesome. Although with ds I only wanted prawn cocktail crisps mmmm

SnugglySnerd · 05/02/2017 10:13

It was barbecue crisps for me!

Hope DD enjoys her party, Girlie

ememem84 · 05/02/2017 10:14

He's also going to sort me out with a trainer for a few weeks after baby comes so I can get a kick start back to exercising properly.

WreckTangled · 05/02/2017 10:40

Sounds good em. If the baby is due October I would sort it for January so you can get Christmas out the way!

Silly cat.

ememem84 · 05/02/2017 10:45

wreck he wants you to brush his teefs.

Mine does that. She chews the toothbrush. weirdo I should add that once I realised she was doing this our toothbrushes went in the cupboard. And I put a cheapy one in a cup on the sink for her to chew....

How long roughly does it take to "get over" childbirth? I know absolutely nothing about it. Assumingly you have to be checked over at a certain stage and then given the all clear to get back to exercising? I imagine you can't just have baby then a week later just get back to it?

We have a lot to think about. Maternity leave going back to work. nursery v childminder. Baby names.

And ideally before the beginning of August moving house.

CathodeRayTube · 05/02/2017 10:52

Em I was out and about zooming around with the pram very soon after ds was born. There's a huge amount of work involved in looking after a lively baby and you may find that your dc is all the personal trainer you need. It partly also depends on the delivery. If it's an easy one then you will be good in days. If you have a big episiotomy, more like a week or two. If c section, a bit longer. If the baby is 3 months premature and you're living in digs at the hospital expressing milk round the clock, then that is a whole other story.

It might be good to talk to dh about things more along the lines of hiring a cleaner or a childminder if you want to get back to exercise. If you had a childminder, say a couple of hours, two days a week then that would give you peace of mind to go and do things for yourself. A cleaner likewise. A personal trainer standing over you, when you have a crying baby and the house is a tip, may not be so helpful.

The spirit of the offer is a good one though, and definitely worth hanging onto, and possible adjusting in time.

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 10:53

Yay MissA/Snuggly I also loved the Tim Curry worst witch - I used to beg mum to borrow it from the library all the time, she probably spent so much it would've been cheaper to buy it 😂 I got it cheap on DVD a few years ago and DD loves it too. Never really got into the TV series as a kid but will be watching the new one on iplayer.

I was thinking of Tim Curry as the wizard the other week - when we saw Craig Revel Horwood as Captain Hook in panto, I kept thinking his (a. may. zing.) singing voice sounded really familiar - and then realised it was reminding me of Tim! Among other things he sang One Way or Another :o ❤️

Nice work MrEm - he is clearly understanding a pregnant woman's very specific snack needs! 😇🌟

Another thing that's worth looking into is a person called a "doula" who will help you to get to grips with newborn baby care. In hindsight, many things would have been better if I'd had one of those.

WreckTangled · 05/02/2017 10:54

Well it's a tough questions to answer as it depends what kind of birth you have. Here we get a six week post natal check where you can discuss whether or not you're ready for exercise. I would say after the first birth I was physically ready by that time but not emotionally (forceps). With ds I would have been ready sooner but was far too knackered as all he did was cry and feed. He was so cute though so it was worth it. I didn't do exercise before I had either of them though so might be more keen to get into it after a baby if I ever had another one as I know how good it makes you feel. There was a v pregnant lady at spinning the other day!

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 10:59

Em I think they say wait for "proper" exercising until you've had your six week post natal check. Possibly longer after a section. But it's got to vary individually and depends on birth etc.

Something about abdominal muscles coming apart during pregnancy as the bump grows and you have to give them time to knit back together or something. (Not as scary as it sounds!) I'm not too sure though, feels like forever ago!

WreckTangled · 05/02/2017 11:08

My stomach muscles are still separated. It's gross, I can fit my fingers between them.

SnugglySnerd · 05/02/2017 11:19

It never occurred to me it would be available on DVD, Cag, I might have to get that...
Em a lot depends on your birth. I had an emergency section last time and a lengthy spell in hospital which actually gave me a good chance to recover. I was doing short walks after about 3 weeks and quite long walks after about 6 weeks. Between all the walking and breastfeeding I lost weight very quickly, I was eating like a horse including lots of cake and still losing weight!
Pilates is good for getting your core and pelvic floor back in working order.

CremeEggThief · 05/02/2017 11:37

I think you need to wait until you've had your 6 week check-up before getting the all-clear to do exercise, but as long as you have a normal delivery, you can go out for walks as soon as you feel up to it, Em. We took DS for his first walk at 1 day old, the day we came home, to a park 5 minutes walk away, as my friend was visiting with her 6 year old. By the time he was a week old, he'd been out 4 times, including a shopping trip to Asda.

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/02/2017 11:38

That's a genius move on your dhs part em

  1. Loads of brownie points.
  2. He doesn't have to go out at 23:30 to buy crisps for his dw Grin
Brightermornings · 05/02/2017 11:42

Ended up getting a KFC yesterday it was freezing watching dd play football. Realistically I can afford neither the cost or the calorieSad
Spent £5 at the surprise 18th I went to was a lovely night and birthday girl was very surprised.
Food shopping today hopefully less than £40.
Does anyone else have big plans for the weekend I'm going to get this done and sort this. Comes to it and yep not much gets done. I do it so much and then feel disappointed I haven't got anything done.

Cagliostro · 05/02/2017 12:13

Story of my life there brighter 😳😂

I am trying to just achieve one thing at a time in baby steps. I'm on a lovely group thread over on the Housekeeping board where we (sort of) follow the rules of someone called Flylady in a much less twee way than her website. It's quite good for that sort of feeling.

For example I have been putting off sorting out tax stuff, loads of bits I need to ask about. DH was (quite rightly) bugging me about it so instead I just phoned up about one specific thing yesterday. Rather than being panicked about how much there was to do and therefore not daring to start IYSWIM. So instead of being annoyed at myself I am proud instead and something has been achieved.

OTOH I know nowt is happening today, DH is off to work shortly and I haven't managed to get up yet, sick dizzy and blah. Roll on Wednesday (but I think I'll phone Mon/Tues to see if the doc has any cancellations)

ItalianWiking84 · 05/02/2017 13:07

em very nice of your dh to buy for you.
girlie I lost in 2014 both my close friend who commited suicide after her baby boy died after struggling with a very rare illness. It's bloody hard and all to early to end life. I miss both of them deeply and still think about them often.

cag in the news here the other day where something about he in uk. Something with a woman letting her kids play PlayStation all day and not really educating them. They were I believe in some morning show talking about it. Am sure there are lots of positive sides to he, unfortunately the interview only showed the negative part and lots here where surprised about the lack of control from the authorities. There are ppl here who wish that he was legal but they also said in the interview that these kind of ppl didn't benefit their pursuit in getting it legalized here.

cath we have raspberry, blueberry, rhubarb and strawberries all growing in the garden. They take up space but gives loads and is quite low maintenance...

Have a good party girlie and mammy hope things soon gets a bit lighter at home...
