www.nowtv.com/entertainment Tesco sell the boxes on eBay too.

We've got a nowtv box for our bedroom but it stopped working after a couple of months! I mean ffs. But yes we will get one downstairs once the sky ends in November and then I'll also cancel Amazon prime once I've finished the Christmas shopping!

Shesgotelectricboobs · 10/10/2016 13:20

wreck we ditched sky last year. Best thing we ever did saved us £76 a month.

We use Netflix and nowtv and Amazon prime intermittently.

It's made me watch less tv if I'm honest. Maybe more concentrated tv watching though - will happily binge my way through a season of something of a quiet weekend!

Spoken to vets. We have to go there for initial check up before they will sell me the flea and worm stuff. So have taken a half day tomorrow. I'm writing a list of questions so I get my money's worth. no idea yet how I'm going to get catface into her travel box...

Ran out of milk today too so no breakfast for me. And had to buy lunch. Aaah.

WreckTangled · 10/10/2016 13:26

If you've got a cat box that opens at the front then lift it up on its end and put her in feet first as its less scary for them. Also put a towel or something in there. I always have a nightmare getting biscuit in his box, mainly because he's so bloody big.

Collieballs · 10/10/2016 14:02

Colliecat does a poo and a wee in her travel box. Every single time!

The buyers seem to be sorting out the problem. Phew! There'll probably be another glitch tomorrow. Eek.

wreck nice one for cancelling Sky!

I really fancy a gigantic knickerbockerglory Blush with extra cream. Why do I fancy this when I can't have dairy? Arghh!

Collieballs · 10/10/2016 14:04

Oh and we're £60 in credit with the Water company! That's cheered me up

wreck I'm only counting the days until I cancel sky, can't wait to be rid of that bill €108 monthly for tv, broadband and phone. We're buying an android box instead x 2, and then the remaining 10 months of the first year will save us almost €800, less if we get netflix as well but I gather that an account is assigned to your payment card rather than ip address so I might utilise all 7 bank cards we have between us and get 7 months for free HmmGrin

Don't feel like a failure, you've got a big electric dd and you live in an expensive area, you're doing your best with what you've got.

Have you got a smart phone? Could you cast to your tv from apps like utv iplayer etc?

Report
Fluffycloudland77 · 10/10/2016 14:11

Well done Collie, Swedish glacé ice cream is really nice, you can get dairy free wafers easily. There's cashback on Tate & Lyle syrups on checkout smart too. I didn't relax until the money changed hands, even 15 minutes before I thought someone would realise the mistake and say we couldn't have our house.

I have a Bengal so I take him in the ensuite with the carrier and back him into a corner using the box so he has to get in, then I quickly put the door on. Otherwise he goes batshit. Bengals are the cats you get when you've been bad in a previous life.

Yes! Exactly this! Well said mammy Smile

fluffy Oooh sounds so good! Thank you for making my knickerbockerglory dreams come true.

Thanks mammy and collie Smile

So my now tv box has the 'purple screen' which is apparently a common problem, have ordered a new hdmi to try hope it works, didn't have a spare one I could try Hmm

Need to go to the post office to post an eBay sale which only went for a couple of pounds.

Have got all my sheets on the line I reckon they'll almost be dried as its bright and sunny with a breeze today.

So Ds hasn't been sick since 5pm yesterday he is clearly fine but either Dh or I have to lose money to look after him tomorrow as he cant go to pre school.

I haven't left the house for the second day running Blush frugal win?!

I have spent money though...£25 on an afternoon tea for my mum's birthday from Groupon and also £5 on a DVD of Mary Poppins for DD as my mum is taking her to see the stage show for Christmas.

Wreck. I second that you are doing the best with what you have. Also it's really hard to see positive when dc are ill and you are shattered. Cancelling sky is a feat in itself to be proud of.
Parent fail, ds cut his finger slicing a lemon. Don't think it's so deep to need gluing. Will look when let's me. I dropped and cracked my corned beef pie during the incident.
Have lemon cakes made and ginger cake in the oven.

Mary Poppins stage show is fab. Ursula. Apparently has elements of finding Mr banks in, but we haven't seen that film.

The 48 hour rule for vomiting is a pain but life saving for some children with weakened immune systems. Our dd's school constantly reminds people not to send children in until they're 48 hours clear as there's a child who suffers congenital hyperinsulism in their school who it would be critical for. Luckily my cm would take dc sick but that also meant they caught whatever illnesses other children were off school with too SmileHmm

Collie, so glad you are feeling better and I bet the house will go through fine. I moved 9 months ago and panicked right till the end. I think the panic is unavoidable.
Wreck, I don't think I could manage what you do. You have an horrendous electric bill. Well done for cancelling Sky.
I got so fed up with the big payouts of the bbc that I cancelled my tv licence and sold the tv
I don't miss it.
Yet another NSD....not been out. I think it's the 7th.
The builder is here.

D&V is contagious for 72 hours after, I get the rule but they should also combine it with a rule for paid parental leave Grin

I've got the sheets off the line now need to make all three beds. Eugh.

Sausages, cheesy mash and beans for dinner!

Wow Mary poppins sounds so good. I love going to the theatre, I've only been to a few shows wish we could go to more.

The sky guy was actually pretty good. He said he could only give me a 30% discount and given what I was saying he knew I wouldn't want that and could see we only had shitty broadband here so he couldn't help with that either (we were having a rant about childcare costs!).

Life hope Ds is ok!

Report
AGenie · 10/10/2016 16:29

Wreck I really do think they should combine it with paid parental leave. It would cut down the number of people who flout the rule and pass bugs on needlessly.

wreck that's a great idea, you should propose that Wink
I knew you understood why too Smile

My home insurance provider wouldn't match quote so I've gone with the cheaper one.

I made bbq goujons on sat from a tasty video - marinade chicken in bbq and coat in crush nacho chips, they were indeed tasty Wink

Today I've put 6 pork chops into slow cooker with remainder of bottle of bbq and sliced frozen peppers to make pulled pork. I hate pork chops normally Smile

We're not quite at picking up and putting in the box stage... I'm going to put her breakfast in it and let her wander in. Hopefully.

Box is going out tonight with a sqooshy towel in it.

I want the vet to weigh her too. I'm concerned that we may be over or under feeding her (there are guidelines on the food but without knowing whether she's 3 or 4 kgs it's difficult to know. Am feeding in between the two amounts. So it'll be good to get proper guidance. The vets are great. Dm used them for all her cats. They are so kind and caring.

It was suggested that the vet could come to us. But more expensive obviously. But I imagine the vet trip is going to be traumatic for catface and I think I'd rather it be traumatic outside the safety of our house iyswim. Must get her a nice tea tomorrow. For being a brave girl.

I bet I'm more traumatised than she is tomorrow. Anyone want to take bets on whether I cry or not???

DH's fave jam Fluffy, I will look out for that offer, thanks.

£14 today in Aldi. Only buying here what I know to be the cheapest price for some weekly staples like wraps, crumpets, tea bags etc.

Yesterday -
£20 game for DS.
£50 trail trainers for my running. These were expensive the last time I bought trail shoes, so I was pleasantly surprised how prices have gone down so much in 5 years.

Been a busy day as worked, run, walked dogs for 1.5 hours, and ferried various DC around.

Wraps for tea using chicken from last night.

Thanks for the cat love. He is a 7kg Maine Coon, which is quite small for that breed. I will read up on the Program injection, thanks Fluffy.

NSD today.

Frugal wins:
Paid in cheque for £23 from returned college deposit
Leftover chicken for tea (may have had the infamous MN roast chicken)!

Wilderness our birman weighs more than that, please confuse him with a Maine coon.
