£50 in Lidl last night, but that's it for the week, no more food shopping.
The menu for this week:
Omelette
Pasta bake
Quiche
Stirfry
Soup with croutons
Curry

Have a nice Sunday everyone :)

lifelongfrugaleer · 18/09/2016 08:34

Gah one of the grill elements has stopped working. Will have to dig out the warranty stuff.
Outdoor museum today with a pic nic

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2016 09:26

If the warranty has expired an element shouldn't be too hard to fix with the right spare and a YouTube video.

Ememem84 · 18/09/2016 09:54

We might go for a walk today.

I've just ordered food for Millie online. £10 for 2kg of her biscuits from Amazon prime. I think threw away the receipt I paid £4 for 400g. i can buy her litter online too but may want to change it up (she's used to a wood pellet one) which is noisy as anything when she scratches around in it at night time.

She's looking less scared now.

Ememem84 · 18/09/2016 10:50

She's sleeping now! I crept into the hallway before and sat on the floor. I shut my eyes and then opened them. She's all curled up tail in front of face sleeping. I can hear snores. Soooo cute. I want to get Dh to see. But can't get up. Have text him...!

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 10:56

Today I am loving FaceTime. Never used it before but DSD asked me to so she could show us her uni house. She filmed the whole place, we saw her new roommates and she showed off her little brother and sister to them. :) :)

Collieballs · 18/09/2016 11:39

cag that's very cute! Hope she has a fab time at uni. I adored Uni and met DH at uni. We have fond memories of our student house.
AGenie we bought a heated airer and it's bliss! It holds one very full load of washing. Totally recommend. It was from Lakeland. I don't even think we'll bother taking the tumblr dryer with us when we move.

AGenie · 18/09/2016 11:52

That sounds great Collie. We have a weird little walk in cupboard in our house that is always hot and I can hang washing in it to dry, but it takes a bit more effort and I have been enjoying not having to do that with the tumble dryer. I think I should probably go back to using the weird warm cupboard though really.

I just went to look at cars, but ds and I are tired and out of sorts after a busy week so we gave up and came home. Bit frustrating that but there it was.

Ememem84 · 18/09/2016 12:06

Between me my sis and my mum we share a Lakeland heated aired. We went thirds on it (it stays at mums house) and we borrow it as and when necessary. I think they're great. If we had the storage for it I'd have one myself.

We've got a tumbly but I don't like using it as I know it's expensive to run. Washing usually gets hung on airers in the spare room to dry with the windows open (even in winter...). Another reason to move to a house with a garden. Outdoor drying! Another small part of the dream!

WreckTangled · 18/09/2016 12:15

Cag we FaceTime pil in NZ all the time it's fab. Way better than Skype.

Em she's so cute.

£57 hollister Blush but that'll be dh's birthday sorted and sister for Christmas. Got three t shirts a shirt a jumper and some chinos for that.

WreckTangled · 18/09/2016 12:22

Awwww cute cat pics!

lilacclery · 18/09/2016 13:56

One of our kitty cats is missing & other one is upset Sad dh has searched the road in case he got hit by a car but no sign Confused

I dropped a handmixer on my foot Angry

Regarding drying clothes I bought a retractable clothesline for outside yesterday it has 2 15m lines in it I'm hoping it will reduce our tumble dryer usage.

Went to party last night spent €23 not too bad

Ugh just lost a long post Sad

Oh well lost the will now but will post again later!

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2016 14:25

lilac oh lord that's awful. If he's a full Tom it's not unheard of them to vanish like that.

AGenie · 18/09/2016 14:56

Em It's an odd thing, but my Loop energy monitor tells me that my dryer costs very little to run actually. It's like the opposite of the microwave, The tumble dryer seems as though it should be expensive, but isn't. The microwave seems as though it should be cheap but isn't.

Ememem84 · 18/09/2016 15:00

genie I want an energy monitor. I spoke to the electric co and they do supply them but they have to be put near the metre. As we're in a flat and our metre isn't in our part of the building it makes it difficult. Sad

microwave is also on the wish list for the new house! We don't have room in our kitchen here Sad

I do like the tumbly. I tend to only use it for drying small things (pants socks - things that are a right pain to put on the airers) and to finish off bedding and towels.

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 15:07

Loving the cat pics! Sorry about the missing one though :(

Spending later as found out DH does have a particular day off next month so booking cinema tickets for myself and DSD (film festival in London) assuming it's not sold out that is!

Cagliostro · 18/09/2016 15:12

I bloody love our tumble dryer. I know this sounds like an exaggeration but it has genuinely changed my life - hanging up wet heavy washing caused a lot of pain and I don't have to do that anymore :) it's a Samsung and was about £800 rrp I think Shock but it's really quick and efficient (heat pump condenser). Fits two washloads in too so I do two washes then dry them together. The tank is up at the top as well, so yet another thing that's easier - I don't have to bend down to empty it.

Now if I could fit in a dishwasher my life would be truly complete (and DH would be ecstatic as he's the one that does all the washing up!). :o

northender · 18/09/2016 15:13

Cag good luck to your dsd at uni. Several friends have children going to uni this time and it really does make you have a "where has the time gone?" moment.
Collie keeping my fingers & toes crossed for you.

Our cricket day yesterday was just fab. The first team won the League for the first time in 11 years which was fantastic. Dd has been their scorer and they gave her a card and a gift card even though she gets paid each week. She will also get to be in the team photo which will go up in the bar. Ds had a good game for the third team which brings to a close a second brilliant season of senior cricket for him. He's hoping it'll be second team from the start next season. So now a time to have weekends to ourselves again. Ds has a couple of months break before trials start again.

Dh had a very frugal night out on Friday at the cricket presentation. He spent less than £10 as there was a kitty of money left over from their weekly subs.

Going to my parents for tea tonight. I've made a baked cheesecake to take for pudding, not a cheap option though so not particularly frugal.

Walls are going to start being knocked down this week as part of our loft project with the staircase possibly going in at the end of the week. Getting excited now!

CremeEggThief · 18/09/2016 15:16

I agree that dryers don't cost as much as people think to run. In fact, in my house, the washing machine is about the same!

Lilac, I hope your cat has just gone for a wander and turns up soon.

NSD. I almost bought a new bag from Fatface, but I'm not sure it's big enough. My current bag is 9 inches by 10, and the zip is nearly broken, as I regularly squeeze a Systema water bottle, a banana, big purse, diary, pen, keys, phone, tissues, hand gel, Vaseline, paracetamol, a compact mirror, hand cream, some sort of mints, a couple of tea bags, some sugar sachets and a folded up shopper, as a minimum. I need something big enough to comfortably carry all of the above, along with a paperback book. I don't want to spend more than £30 and ideally I want it in burgundy or dark grey. I've only come across 2 or 3 so far that I like and none that I love. I like the slouchy hobo style best.

AGenie · 18/09/2016 16:08

I see what you mean about the monitor Em. I can report back on tests here if you want to know what costs a lot and what costs less.

Cag I'm the same with the dryer. It really changed a lot for me. My dm told me it would for years and I didn't like to get one because of the carbon footprint, but it makes a huge difference. I have a dishwasher too and that makes an epic difference as well. We put it in the space that was previously occupied by out floor-standing boiler. We're also tight for space but we keep our fridge freezer and tumble dryer in the dining room.

Creme I always get bags from Clark's shoe shop. It seems odd but they always seem to have the best ones.

I've had a NSD today (miracle). I'm going to blow that away with a Tesco order now.

It's a funny thing, but since I went to see that councillor lady last week, the inside top of my head no longer feels as though it is slightly toasted. Isn't it odd the difference that can be made when someone really listens?

CremeEggThief · 18/09/2016 16:12

AGenie, there was one I liked from Clarks, but it was a bit more formal/structured than what I really want. I'm very fussy!

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2016 16:25

NSD.
