Em the first night we had Colliecat she meowed and scratched the carpets & doors alllllllll night long. I remember feeling like I wanted to take her back and panicked that she would never settle down with us. The second night she settled down perfectly. The shelter where we got her from said she was miserable and sad. And not cuddly at all. They were so wrong! - after 2 or 3 days she was playing, pouncing, purring, sleeping and eating well. She loved sitting on our laps in the evening.

Although we had to put her, her food / drink and her litter box in one room at night. I think she felt safer in one room at night for a while. Smile

Today we are having a birthday party, my frugal nature means of course I made the cake myself Grin

mummy wow!! What a cake! Good job!!

collie i hope tonight is a bit quieter. It was so sad hearing her last night. But it was a lot of change for her. So to be expected. She's in the living room/kitchen at present. Still under the table. It's sunny today so she's got the perfect spot. Litter box is behind the couch near the table (not ideal but we figured until she's comfortable it's the best place) and her foods within sight. We're just leaving her to it. She'll come to us when she's ready.

I've just hoovered. And she wasn't phased at all. Just sat. Watching.

Does anyone want an Ocado code for £20 off first £80 shop PLUS free delivery pass for 12 months? If so it's VOU5036041.

allthebestplease · 11/09/2016 13:13

Loving the sunshine today. Does anyone know a discount code for dunelm mill? TCB only does 2% , but I guess that's still something Smile

WreckTangled · 11/09/2016 14:10

£20 sainsburys on vets for baby shower, half price superman outfit for ds's birthday or Christmas, beer for Dh he can pay me back for, stuffing balls, small bottle of wine and some m&ms

Cagliostro · 11/09/2016 15:21

Gorgeous cat and gorgeous cake!

£21ish last night online - birthday present for DD's friend, glue gun, sellotape, and a long-yearned-for card game from my pocket money as it's gone cheap :o

DH is nearly home from his 10k, he beat his eldest's PB for the first time since his back operation, so he's really smug happy. Not bad for a guy pushing 50 :o

ItalianWiking84 · 11/09/2016 15:22

Do ppl in general have separated finances or pool all together if your in s relationship?

For week 37 we have 140£ for food, petrol and diverse. Should be fine.
We have 400£ in our usage account, 1500£ in budget account.

SnugglySnerd · 11/09/2016 15:46

That cake is amazing, Mummy!
We took DD into town on the train today, she's been asking to go on the train for ages. Had lunch in town, strolled around looking at all the new trams, buildings etc, had a posh icecream then caught the train back home. Lovely day!

Ememem84 · 11/09/2016 16:05

italian we have a bit of both. We have a joint ac and a joint mortgage. Separate current accounts and savings accounts (we set up savings accounts earlier this year which pay out 6% so made sense to get one each.

Joint ac is for joint expenses (food bills mortgage etc) salaries get paid into individual accounts.sepearate credit cards. It works for us.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/09/2016 16:21

Sorry lilac I misunderstood about the dress, I thought you didn't like it. Brown leggings and it's lovely.
Ah em. Millie has a place in your dh heart, hope he's not allergic though.
Fluffy sorry to hear about dh and the worry. Bloody cuts.
Mummy, where had that year gone. I can't believe g is 1. Great cake.
Ah snuggly, tunic dress and leggings with a scarf and cardi. Unfortunately forecast to be 28° next week though.
Italian everything is joint for us.

I owe the stable £40 deposit for pony party £300!!!! But just need a cake and dd has decided what she wants. Need to get playmobil for the topper and going home bags but the usually send a birthday 25℅ off voucher.
Ds is proving more difficult as his is nerf and party supplies are hard get. I may need to buy my DM some printer ink and run hers out with downloads.
I'm asking for money for riding lessons for them they have decided they want to try it.
Dd is doing her ballet until the exam do £300 to fork out then. Then in Dec it's decision time horses or dance.

£6 MacDonald today. Ds team won and played really well for first game out. Thank heavens for pic nic

ItalianWiking84 · 11/09/2016 18:53

Lifelong: a kids birthday party costs 300£?? Shock holy moly...

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/09/2016 19:07

I know Italian. £30 per child 1 hour ride and food. Nearly fell over.

Unescorted · 11/09/2016 19:14

Thanks for the suggestions for lunches - I have made muffins, rye bread, and cooked up some chicken bought badoit sparkling water and crisps for the wretches. They had better eat it or I will wring a few necks.

DD & I have also done more in the garden... Now we are past most of the back breaking hard landscaping bits she is really good. She makes sure it is weed free & watered. I may have spawned a soil scientist - we are having great success getting the organic levels up & consequently breaking the clay up.

Mummy can I order a cake for late Jan and late Feb? That is an amazing cake.

Sierra259 · 11/09/2016 19:26

mummy that cake looks amazing! Hope the party went well.
em I'm sure Millie will settle in no time
lifelong Shock at the price of the party - I've got that joy to come. So far we've only done little parties at home!

Just got to finish packing for our holibobs tomorrow - lots of fiddly little bits to remember for the DC! I have about 12 lists Confused

ItalianWiking84 · 11/09/2016 19:27

Lifelong.... On my....., children's party's in the uk seems expensive... Hope they'll enjoy it loads...

WreckTangled · 11/09/2016 19:35

Unescorted I also do cheese scones sometimes.

I agree, mummy, the cake looks amazing!

I'm going into work tomorrow as overtime. I owe them two hours from finishing early when Ds was ill and we've got a massive report due in December so really need to get on top of things.

Ds fell asleep on me tonight in bed. Not gonna lie it was lovely but I had to do some ninja moves to get out.

Unescorted · 11/09/2016 19:35

£300 eeek!
Itailian I wish we could get good rye bread here.

lifelongfrugaleer · 11/09/2016 19:46

Tbf ds is costing less thant £150 as I got a Groupon. He is having a nerf war. Unfortunately they are both in the same month

ItalianWiking84 · 11/09/2016 19:47

Unescorted: Danes mainly only eat rye bread, so missed it s lot when living in the uk... I'm just not a fan of white loafs... I can always ship some over to you Wink

allthebestplease · 11/09/2016 19:52

Italian - we have one joint account for everything, we have joint saving acct nothing in it) and joint debt (everything is joint).

So when it comes to birthday presents its pretty daft aa it just comes out the joint acct Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/09/2016 19:56

mummy That cake is amazing, I could never do that. I can do a good even sponge but decorating is not my forte.

We do same as em re money italian. We have different attitudes to money.

£2 beer
£10 owed to Dh for coffees etc from the hospital cafe (taking my own next week)
£40 loaned to Dh.

WreckTangled · 11/09/2016 19:57

We have a joint account for bills and separate current accounts which we get paid into. Also have a joint savings account and I have my own empty savings Grin
