cag I wonder if the neighbour is jealous of your family or DD in some way? I was teased about similar when I was about 10. Turns out the bully had no attention from her parents, no day trips out, never had been on a bus or train, no museum visits, etc etc & she grew bitter with jealously. We only realised when we started swimming and she was super happy about catching a coach to the leisure centre. Confused

Just spent £87 on new clothes. Fingers cross they fit! I measured myself carefully. need I wanted some basic t shirts, jumper and a chunky long cardigan.

fluffy thanks for the heads up about Boden! Will have a look tomorrow as I still need some bits.

I also "spent" £31 on a gigantic blanket from M&S. They have a sale on and I had some credit to spend there. So it was free for me.

Cagliostro · 27/08/2016 23:00

Oh gosh Em I was just skimming the previous page to read later, and I could've sworn you said you'd hoovered your CAT

Tryingtosaveup · 27/08/2016 23:31

Thanks for the recipe 8fence, I would never have thought of putting sesame seeds in pastry, but it sounds good. I will make 2 tomorrow but will need to buy eggs as I used the last in the bread pudding the other day.
Cag, I think Collie is right. They could also be jealous because your DCs are educated at home. You do all sorts of interesting things with yours as well. Definitely jealous.
And don't worry about doing nothing.
My mother used to leave all the housework and take us out somewhere (cheap, we were penniless) and say"this house will still be here when I'm dead, we're going out" . And she was right.

Cagliostro · 28/08/2016 00:06

Just got some wellies for the Caglets.

Joules factory seconds

Cagliostro · 28/08/2016 00:10

Thank you lovely lovely people Thanks

I dunno. Partly I think she's not a very happy girl generally :( she does pick on DD quite a lot lately. DD is getting more assertive and isn't standing for it any more (she was really beaten down by the bullying that happened at school, but seems to be getting her strength back now) and I think maybe that is making this girl want to do it more. Because she's not in charge anymore IYSWIM.

Sierra259 · 28/08/2016 02:28

Hi all! DC2 up for a feed so gave me a chance to catch up. Agenie that dealer sounds like a twat. Why in earth would he think you would pay out 3 grand if you didn't need to? italian hope your friend is doing better with your support. cag I agree that this other girl is probably jealous of the quality time you spend with your DD. Glad she wasn't too upset by the nasty comments.

Spendy day Friday as we were at a wedding, but it was our first full day/evening out without the DC since DC2 was born 9 months ago, so totally worth it! Grin £40 on cabs there and back (in total) and £30ish on drinks. Present was bought weeks ago. Today, £6 Slimming World and £10 top up. Went to a National Trust woodland with a picnic lunch after, so cheap afternoon.

Think DC2 has dropped off so going to attempt to get her back into bed - wish me luck!

AGenie · 28/08/2016 04:47

Lilac yes it is huge isn't it? They were identical new cars. The dealer said the corsa SE automatic costs £15k+ RRP but I was being offered it new for £12405. Salesmen are really very variable aren't they? It's odd that. Well done on the pre-school.

Thanks Em That's good to know. I cancelled the test drive in the end. I didn't like the way that conversation was going at all.

Need I'm glad you think it was right to haggle. It makes me realise that zipcar is a great thing for car buying. We have a system here where there are community cars that we can just rent for an hour any time we want one, and I could use those easily for test drives. I'm going to take a look at some of them I think.

I hadn't thought of getting a car adapted Collie. That's a great idea. Thanks!

Fluffy Dh thought that there were cars like that. He says he thinks the Prius may be like that. I must figure out which ones have the right kind of gear stick. Useful to know that about test drives. I sort of thought that some people haggled much harder with car people, but I didn't realise it was that much. Did you have to do a lot to get that JL voucher?

methenyou. Thanks yes, it's a huge amount isn't it?

Thank so much everyone for the encouragement on dealing with car salespeople. I'll keep trying. Smile

Been to a flea market yesterday with friend, weather was lovely sunny and she needs to get out. Spent 15£ on 4 puzzles for dd and 4 baby play toys for baby dd so pleased with that. None of the maternity dresses looked nice in me so all going back, so back to looking...
Today is lazy day, dd and friend is on the couch with a movie, dh is at my great grand parents with food and is helping setting up the iPad, they are surprisingly tech interested lol...

Methenyouplus4 · 28/08/2016 07:44

Morning all!

Cag- I got a pair of those Joules wellies a few days ago. I bought ones with trucks etc on, plan to give them with a cheap toy truck to a friend's DS for Christmas. As for other your DD friend, are you sure she isn't just repeating her parents, either what they have said or just their manner of speaking/things they pass comment on? In DS old school there was a boy who would say things like "Your car is a lot smaller than mine, is it your only one?" but then heard him say to DS "Don't you think you could knock down that wall to make this room bigger? It's a bit cramped! Our kitchen is much bigger." In my mind, he must have been used to hearing his parents pass such comments to each other.

Methenyouplus4 · 28/08/2016 07:47

Forgot to add- planned NSD today. Mum is treating us to soft play with kids (so I might buy coffees). This afternoon will be an easy one. Planning on making some homemade rabbit toys with eldest two DS this afternoon and then when kids in bed sorting two cupboards (rock and roll eh)!

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2016 07:49

I did a few surveys every night since last Monday agenie. They don't take very long.

Methenyouplus4 · 28/08/2016 08:16

Fluffy- which site do you use and do they send you loads of stuff (i. e. Are you then bombarded with junk mail)?

needastrongone · 28/08/2016 08:53

Genie, I just remembered that DH's automatic car has the extra 'stick' on the steering column, for changing 'gears' (D,P, R, N).

Your clothes sound lovely Collie.

Cag It's good that your DD is starting to feel confident enough to assert herself, it's a difficult thing to do after being bullied, well done to her.

Popping to Leeds today for a few bits for 6th form for DS.

I also picked up a sports watch on Ebay last night for £40, RRP is £250. It's second hand, but has all boxing still etc.

Colliefeatures · 28/08/2016 08:57

We're off blackberry picking today. So I may need to buy some clotted cream but that'll be my only spend. Hopefully!

I feel quite guilty having spent so much on clothes but I had to. Blush

Feeling a bit grumpy today. Last night I did that silly thing of trying to find your perfect house, in your budget, in the county you live in. There were LOADS! Just in the wrong town (approx 30 miles away!). Have to keep saying "location, location, location" to myself. DHs commute would be a nightmare. Trying to delete my thoughts. Edit undo! Sad

Methenyouplus4 · 28/08/2016 09:10

Topcashback question- I followed the link to spend £10 at George (Asda) and get £10 cashback. I did this, it said 'cash pending'. Yesterday I collected the parcel but it still says pending- how long does it usually take to clear?

Ememem84 · 28/08/2016 09:13

Nsd planned today. Going blackberry picking!

lifelongfrugaleer · 28/08/2016 09:41

Back from holiday. You fell off tio. Will catch up today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2016 09:46

Methen

I'm using valued opinions. I don't get any junk mail off them.

Cashback takes weeks sometimes months to arrive Sad

SnugglySnerd · 28/08/2016 10:17

All this talk of soup making, pastry, blackberries and clotted cream is making me hungry!
Sadly I am still in bed with a headache, 3 days now, it must be a migraine. Wondering whether to call OOH but expect they will send me to walk in and I don't think I can face sitting there for hours on end.
Hopefully DH will make me something nice to eat later. I fancy some soup.

Methenyouplus4 · 28/08/2016 10:20

Snuggly- hope you feel better soon.

Fluffy- just joined, thank you. Do they just put surveys up occasionally? Don't seem to be any there to complete at the moment?

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/08/2016 10:54

It tends to be evening when surveys come up.

When I get a survey email I keep it and keep clicking find survey. That way I get more surveys.

SpaceKablooie · 28/08/2016 11:00

Hi everyone, I'm just getting this thread back on my TIO list Smile. We just got back from holiday, it was great.

DH is making a loaf of bread, DS is playing with LEGO, and I'm MNing sitting on my bed. Bliss Grin, for the 5 minutes it lasts.

Mummyshortlegz · 28/08/2016 11:10

Yesterday was expensive. New lamp and bulb for the garden - £21, new table and chairs £389 (11 piece cube set from gyro upon), birthday present and cards for friend and my dad, meal out. £65 for dinner and drinks so not too horrendous. I bought friend a gift in boots and it was next to the wrong price label. I thought it was £5 and bought something to go with it for £10. It was actually £12. Felt quite mean but I've kept the candle for her for Christmas. I have to budget so hard for gifts :-(

allthebestplease · 28/08/2016 11:30

Look what my lovey dad bought me from lidls...

Frugaleers chatting and saving even further into August...
SnugglySnerd · 28/08/2016 11:53

Oh wow! I would love to use a sewing machine. I'm clueless though and not very patient.
