Girliefriendlikesflowers · 29/07/2016 16:59

Hi all, just popping on for a quick hello.

I am really time short at the moment so not keeping up with the thread very well just sort of skim reading Blush

Any how have had a busy couple of days off, ystd as predicted was very spendy but now have a lovely new telly, microwave and toaster Grin was all budgeted for, also ended up with a £10 Argos voucher and went through cash back Halo

Today has also been spendy'ish spent £30 in Pets at Home on cat food and cat litter, got dd a few bits in the sale in Mountain Warehouse £10 and have just signed up to a bubble run which is in aid of a local hospice £40 for me and dd.

Am now taking dd up to her Grandads later as am working all wend.

£7 bus fare and £3.10, on a latte and 2 cookies for my friend and I.

WreckTangled · 29/07/2016 19:40

Nsd. Worked 8-6:30 without a break so feeling ready for bed!

Colliefeatures · 29/07/2016 19:51

Pay day! Woooooohooooo. Although DH got paid slightly less than he ought to have but the mix up will be reimbursed for next month Hmm.

£20 on Geox toddler shoes. Reduced from £40 and perfect for Autumn. His little feet don't tend to grow quickly anymore. Now I've said that they'll go up another size by September Grin his current shoes were emergency canvas summer shoes. Not good for mizzly days.

Thanks fluffy hope you are well!

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/07/2016 19:57

There's free Yeo valley yoghurt in asda on quidcos clicksnap & an offer on cider also on checkoutsmart. The ciders 3 for £5 but you can redeem a £1 per bottle.

So it's 66p per bottle.

Tryingtosaveup · 29/07/2016 22:29

LSD here. Just £3.50 on veggie bacon buttie.
At DPs for the weekend so shouldn't spend much.

I got a really good kids book off Amazon recently, Cag, about a comparison between the ancient and modern Olympics because DGD was doing a project on the Olympics at school and she had to do a presentation about how the 2 compared. Can't remember if it was Usborne. It was brilliant though. She loved it.

ItalianWiking84 · 30/07/2016 06:44

Should be nsd today given that we are block in the whole day due to some kind of bike race....

lifelongfrugaleer · 30/07/2016 07:14

Spendy day. Off to skipton to the food festival.
Kynren was good if anyone is near enough to go. The story is a bit ropey but the special effects are awesome. £1 for a couple of flags but skipped the £10 programme.

Ememem84 · 30/07/2016 08:12

Nsd yesterday. Managed to do after work drinks without getting my purse out. Grin

reached my target of 2 nsds this week. Yippee.

lilacclery · 30/07/2016 08:42

wreck that's a tough day! How come you'd no break?
I worked 7.15-18.15 but I'd a half hour for lunch!

Badders123 · 30/07/2016 08:44

Spendy day today as the DC are getting their men b jabs (£200)
Also need more meds as I'm still ill.
I will have to go the dr on Monday at this rate!

ItalianWiking84 · 30/07/2016 09:15

Badders: are vaccination not part of nsh?
Cag: thanks for the explanation, very interesting to see the difference, sometimes I think that we forget that even if the countries are "close" by we can have huge differences in way of doing. In Denmark it would never happen that you would have so free range of deciding how to educate. But we also don't have our school divided between primary and secondary. But we do have private schools, they still have to follow the official curriculum and then on top they can decide what to focus on

WreckTangled · 30/07/2016 09:24

Lilac I'm off next week and even after all that work I left with 64 messages still in my inbox Hmm

Unescorted · 30/07/2016 09:25

HI All- great to see you back on line Collie

DD has decided that because she is so long & thin that "normal" clothes don't fit her so she is practicing her maths and making her own patterns. Dh has fixed the sewing machine and the house has had a spring clean. DD has now set up shop making clothes for me and her.... our summer treat is going to be to the fabric store so we can pick up some more cheap materials.

Badders123 · 30/07/2016 09:58

Viking...no. In the uk the men b vaccine was only added to the schedule last May so loads of kids miss out
Mine are older - 13 and 7 - but the vaccine exists now and I want them to have it
The govt decided it wasn't financially viable to vaccinate all kids Sad

Cagliostro · 30/07/2016 10:05

:)

Didn't end up going out yesterday! I'd got a voucher for carvery (and they have a cashback offer) but the DCs didn't actually want to go. So we stayed home and made a cake instead (just a ready made mix but I added 100% peanut butter to it). Much more frugal.

Tomorrow we're going to London to see a kids' show of Midsummer (part of Shakespeare festival thingy) but we're going from my mum's so that'll be cheaper as she lives in zone 5.

Booked a few nights in Haven later this year as DH is doing a run down in Hastings. Was a similar price to Travelodge but it's got a pool etc. Trying to plan what else we'll do down there. DD is desperate to go to an aquarium and they accept clubcard tokens, but there's also Battle Abbey, the castle and the Smugglers thing (but I think the latter might be too scary for DS). Will be finding out a bit about 1066 before we go. :)

Hoping to get DD's old bike fixed today so DS can use it. This was the reason we cleared the cupboard out - so there's more room to store it. DD's current bike, which was a hand me down from a friend, needs fixing as well, although the amount that needs doing may mean it's cheaper to get a new one. If she does need a new one I'm hoping my parents will agree to it as her Christmas present (they generally prefer me choosing something for them to get so should be ok). We are thinking BMX though as what she really loves is going over ramps, dirt tracks etc... where does one buy a BMX?!

Updated spends from yesterday:
€6 on Lotto and fizzy drink to get me through a v tired afternoon. Lotto may not seem frugal but it gives me so much enjoyment dreaming about what I would do if I won, and I can't enjoy those dreams if I don't buy a ticket occasionally!

Spends today:
€30 cleaner.
Cleaner is away for next five weeks after today which don't be good for the state of the house but it will be an extra €130 into our holiday fund.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Tryingtosaveup · 30/07/2016 10:47

Another no spend day today.
Is he doing a half marathon Cag?

Cagliostro · 30/07/2016 11:01

Yep Hastings Half :)

ItalianWiking84 · 30/07/2016 11:07

Badders: that's such... Sad

Badders123 · 30/07/2016 11:22

Yep Sad
Massive social media campaign over here about it but to no avail...

SnugglySnerd · 30/07/2016 11:23

Cag I'd assume Halfords would have a BMX or any cycling shop.
Had a housework morning. MIL is coming round later. Should be another NSD although we might need yoghurt.

ItalianWiking84 · 30/07/2016 11:26

Badders: that's annoying. Here it's part of the vaccination program that kids gets.

So typically really want some fries but we're blocked in so no chances of going anywhere... Envy oh well good for the frugality
