*things. Needful things.

Tryingtosaveup · 28/07/2016 17:46

Thanks for the link to the recipe Wreck. I will get the ingredients ready for next week.

SnugglySnerd · 28/07/2016 17:49

Hope you are ok Em, I was going to say BP too but it could be an ear infection.
£4.50 swimming and just realised I forgot to take my 50p out of the locker. Bugger.

Cagliostro · 28/07/2016 17:54

I'm ordering a Chinese and placing the blame squarely with this thread! :o

Keeping it small though. Resisting the temptation to order all the things. Trying to.

£30 taxing dh car.
I, in my non medical opinion, would say inner ear too em. I remember you saying being dizzy was one of your symptoms. Also a friend of mine has issues with labyrinthitis after a few short flights in succession. Something to do with pressure.

Cagliostro · 28/07/2016 17:58

Wow, 4 items = £17.20! That seems expensive. I never really notice as DH usually pays.

It will taste great though Cag Smile

Another £8.whatever on a repeat prescription of my back drugs. Now I have gotten over the weird side affects, they've revolutionised my life. My GP friend assures me they can do no harm long term, so I am getting on with it. I am running again, which was such a massive part of my life a few years ago.

In addition, money in envelopes to recompense various teenagers for chickens, ponies etc. Sometimes, living in a village has disadvantages. Sometimes, it's a massive benefit. Smile

CremeEggThief · 28/07/2016 19:29

Collie, it's great to have you back. How's work going for you? PM me nearer the time, if you fancy meeting for a cofree when you're hereSmile.

Enjoy, Cag. Ours was lovely yesterday.

Ooh, "Needful Things" is a great read, Em. I used to stay up all night in the holidays reading SK books as a teenager.

Spends: £44.42 on Sainsburys online order, £9.10 bus fares, £5.82 Asda, £24 on a shirt and shoes for DS on my card and £2.80 on a coffee and 2 cheese and onion rolls. Oh and just as we got home, the window cleaners were finishing up and of course, I missed them last time, so that was £8.40. I felt like Al Bundy from "Married with Children" after all that!Grin

Cagliostro · 28/07/2016 19:43

It was pretty tasty :o although a bit peeved as I was sure we should've got free prawn crackers! :( [plays world's tiniest violin]

Maths session was great today. Overheard parents saying how much they liked my teaching method, so feeling rather buoyed by that! Must keep feet firmly on the ground of course, but I definitely feel I'm on the right track :) :)

Salad for tea! It's raining and cold though! And the Winter stuff is making its way out onto the shop floor already Shock. I don't want to think about Autumn / Winter yet. I LOVE not having the heating on.it's like a seasonal frugal win!

Cagliostro · 28/07/2016 20:04

Oooh Envy mind you I don't think they'd do too well in the post :)

My friend is doing another book sale. FFS! I'm a fool to meself

CremeEggThief · 28/07/2016 20:13

Cagliostro · 28/07/2016 20:16

Is everyone getting prawn crackers but me?! :o

OP posts:
Ememem84 · 28/07/2016 21:08

Bloody love a prawn cracker. Mmmmm

Needful things is scary. It's too real. Scarier than IT. I love Stephen King though. His writing is brilliant. I had a nap. And then dinner and then orange is the new black. Now am in the bathroom. Rinsing my nose. #glam

Taytocrisps · 28/07/2016 21:22

Ok I've read back five pages or so.

Trying sorry to hear about your windscreen Sad. It's bad enough paying for all the anticipated bills without extra expenditure on top of them.

Welcome home Creme

Italian good luck with your pram shopping. Sorry to hear you're having such a tough pregnancy but at least it's only temporary and you'll have a lovely baby to look forward to at the end of it all (fingers crossed you'll have a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery). Your date night sounded fun.

Fluffy well done on your super cheap coffee grinder

Wreck the M&S card was a nice surprise. Thanks for sharing the cookie recipe. Last time I made cookies, the cookie mix expanded rapidly and the cookies all ran into each other. I ended up with one giant rectangular cookie Blush. It still tasted good though, after I broke it up into cookie fragments.

need have a lovely holiday

Likewise Snuggly. Hope you have a fun camping trip. Did you find Marie Kondo good? I read a bit of a thread about her methods but some people felt that her suggestions were more suitable for a single person living in a tiny apartment than a family house full of kids clutter. I might see if I can borrow the book from a library. Seasonal clothing is very frustrating. I remember shopping for a warm cardigan for DD one April and I couldn't find one anywhere because the fashion buyers had decided that April was the start of summer (in Ireland!!!!) so the shops were all full of summery tops and shorts etc.

Cag you were asking about The Book of Kells. After you pay your entrance fee, you walk through a room full of display stands with information about the book. For example, one stand has information about the materials they used to make the book. When you walk past the stands, you enter a small, dimly lit area with a display cabinet. You can see two of the volumes - one has text and one has an illustrated page. Then you move on to the Long Room which is very impressive. There are thousands of old books but they're all roped off so you can't touch them or read them. You can also see the Brian Boru harp in the Long Room. The gift shop there was particularly good and I was very tempted by some notebooks with lovely Celtic designs on them. But they were very much 'want' items rather than 'need' items, so I walked away. We spent enough on admission fees, transport and food over the few days.

Welcome back Bertie

Em your comment about going 'off piste' in the supermarket made me laugh. I'm sure you meant 'off list'. But I was picturing you doing your shopping in a ski suit and skis. Smile

Collie that's a fantastic achievement with your weight loss

Girlie welcome back to cyberspace. What's your new house like i.e. how many rooms? Is it new or second hand? Apart from the wardrobe, have you any plans to do up some of the rooms?

lilacclery · 28/07/2016 21:29

Advice needed please - got stung by a wasp on my toe a few hours ago.
Have used vinegar, ice, currently soaking in Epsom salts vinegar & hot water. Just taken an antihistamine & ibuprofen. Swelling has stopped but the pain is incredible

Badders123 · 28/07/2016 21:31

Lilac...This happened to dh a few hours ago
You've done everything we have done
Hope it feels better soon x

lilacclery · 28/07/2016 21:35

Is he feeling better badders? My sympathies to him I broke my arm years ago & it wasn't half as painful as this Sad

Ememem84 · 28/07/2016 21:47

tayto I meant to write off piste. I told Dh I'd gone off piste and we both had the same image and almost piste ourselves laughing. Haha. But yes. I went off list. Rogue. Bought the things I shouldn't have bought. Cookies. And ice cream. And crisps. And biscuits.

girlie how exciting! So pleased for you and your new house!!

Cagliostro · 28/07/2016 21:48

Oh nooo at the wasp stings :(

Thanks for updating re: Book of Kells! Sounds awesome. I did see the Bayeux tapestry once, although I don't think I really appreciated it at the time (history lessons at my school were rather dry) - I'd love to see that again.

Just catching up on the thread. :o :o :o at 'needful thongs'

I as stung by a hornet a few years ago...Jesus the pain!!!
Took hours for it to wear off

Ememem84 · 28/07/2016 22:06

lilac ooh a ted talk. I love ted talks. There's a really interesting one in there somewhere about body language and how to win at interviews with body language. It sounds so simple. But sometimes your body just does what it wants.

I have a list of ones which I suggest my team watch. Mostly to promote and develop their soft/people skills.

lilacclery · 28/07/2016 22:08

Bertie & what I love ynab using since April. Yesterday my account held one third my weekly wage usually this would be close to zero. Today after getting paid I paid €150 off my cc balance, this is about quarter of my weekly pay check
