Hi all popping on again for a quick hello as still no flipping internet Angry I am with EE actually who are usually o.kay but have been flipping useless on this occasion. Apparently will all be sorted by next Friday......... Hmm

Otherwise we are doing well, I just checked my online account and Nationwide have paid in the 500 quid cashback that I got for getting my mortgage with them Smile very pleased with that as need lots of new things!! That will be my budget for everything for the new house including a new telly as ours is useless.

The house is great, am loving the solar panels, not had to turn the boiler on at all yet as they have heated all our hot water.

Hope you are all well, I am frugelleering away here trying to find the best bargains I can Grin any recommendations and def no no's for hoovers? My ancient dyson is finally beginning to die so need to think about replacing that as well!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2016 16:21

Miele. Somewhere likes marks electricals will have one for £100ish delivered or there's the Miele outlet in Oxford.

I am consumed with jealousy over the panels. Do they just do hot water or generate electric too?.

Envy

£4 in a national trust house for cake and crisps. £15 fuel.

WreckTangled · 23/07/2016 17:03

British airways are pissing me off. Ffs. I might have to email CEO....

CremeEggThief · 23/07/2016 17:08

If you can't stretch to a Miele, Girlie, I would recommend my Hetty. Especially good on hard floors. Great about the £500 cashback.

We fly home on Tuesday and I only have €20 of my original budget. Luckily, £70 is coming to me from Topcashback, so that should keep us going.

Ememem84 · 23/07/2016 17:15

We just bought a Bosch one. It's quiet. And eco friendly.

Ememem84 · 23/07/2016 17:16

£365 I think.

Unescorted · 23/07/2016 17:30

Ours is a really rubbish one Vax G3. It would not be a good buy if they gave it to us. DH bought it because it is black and sleek. Also he thought that if it was impossible to notice if it had been used or not he would get out of pushing it around the floor. Being an evil wife I have not told him we also own a broom that is much more effective. He has failed to notice it in the cupboard.

lifelongfrugaleer · 23/07/2016 17:38

I don't really like Vax. Someone recommended shark to us but they are ££££.
Spendy day £50 fuel, got to museum and our pass had expired £48.50, £3 sweets, same ice cream, £10 Chinese, phew.

Ememem84 · 23/07/2016 18:45

I've just realised were talking hoovers. For some reason I thought washing machines....

SnugglySnerd · 23/07/2016 18:56

Good to see you girlie. We have a Dyson that does the job and copes reasonably well with cat hair. We use it nearly every day (because of the car, we're not clean freaks!) and it's still going strong BUT the attachments are not easy to use because the hose and upright vacuum are not very yielding.
Just trying to think what to do tomorrow, probably National Trust outing and I think we're having dinner with friends.

SpaceKablooie · 23/07/2016 19:48

I just bought a Dyson V6 handheld Hoover to replace our old Dyson DC35. It really suits us, despite being small etc.

Cagliostro · 23/07/2016 20:06

DD is the same Wreck - she's reading me much longer books now, and I don't think she could even do one in the summer let alone six! I suggested that she reads some shorter books to herself (she doesn't really read to herself much, as she finds it quite hard to process text - she generally writes in bed at night instead!) and then she can still do the longer book when she reads to me (daily as part of our home ed routine). So we'll try and find books that are interesting and colourful, but not too long. It'll be interesting trying to do that :)

Awesome to see you Girlie Thanks

Lilac we do the same re: personal spends, we have £20 a month each (but that doesn't cover things like treat food as yours does) - mine usually goes on board games and anime :o DH's is usually sci fi stuff. It works really well, it's enough to treat ourselves but not break the bank. :)

WreckTangled · 23/07/2016 20:12

I suggested to dd that she get some shorter ones too or even a non fiction. I love seeing her read to herself Smile

Tryingtosaveup · 23/07/2016 20:30

Girlie, if you have an old dysentery you can trade it in. My 20 yr old dyson was failing so I checked the Internet for the best trade in deal....it's a dyson deal not any particular shop....at the time tesco were offering £100 back from dyson, £20 off as well and 1000 club card points (£10 worth) . So I went with that , as it came to £130 off. I just handed in my old dyson.

lilacclery · 24/07/2016 07:42

€2 on a 4pk of cans of Diet Coke last night because I was going to have a few drinks at home instead I had one Malibu & Diet Coke Smile

€10 on crepes at a dance festival the Dc had Nutella ones I had spinach & cheese. Might make this a monthly treat as she is part of a farmers market.

WreckTangled · 24/07/2016 08:03

Mmm I love crepes.

I think we're going to go to the wetland trust today so that'll be free. Will probs buy a coffee but will take a picnic and avoid the amazing café

Ememem84 · 24/07/2016 08:06

£48 on steak and wine last night.
And £36 yesterday afternoon on a facial. I feel like I have a completely new face. Grin

And £25 riding lesson. Just me in the lesson yesterday. So it was nice to have some one on one

lilacclery · 24/07/2016 08:14

Me too wreck the savoury one did feel like a poor substitute for the Nutella ones but I started doing weight training yesterday in addition to my running each week so wasn't going to ruin it.

Enjoy your day out

lifelongfrugaleer · 24/07/2016 08:29

Ds wants to go to the skatepark today do £10 ish. Need milk a and to book holiday club.

SpaceKablooie · 24/07/2016 09:37

Trying, I don't think the Dyson trade on deal is on at the moment.

Ememem84 · 24/07/2016 10:53

Dh has been out for bacon and cheese. It's necessary. I need reviving.
I am hungover so hungover. Sad so am still in bed.

lilacclery · 24/07/2016 10:59

Poor em Brew not Wine today x

Ememem84 · 24/07/2016 11:12

lilac yep. No wine for me today.

It was delicious wine last night though. And a delicious apple martini. And an amaretto coffee.... Sigh.

Ememem84 · 24/07/2016 12:14

Have set my water heater on a timer. Yippee. Hopefully this will reduce my electric bill.

Someone's bidding on a skirt I put on eBay! Yay. Have 4 items there at present so hopefully they'll sell.

Have to clean the car today but can't do that until Dh goes and fetches it. We drove into town last night for dinner. Then walked home.

CremeEggThief · 24/07/2016 13:49

€15 on lunch at the hotel pool bar. I had hummus for the first time, as it's actually hard to find here in Crete. Fava, a hummus made from broad beans, split yellow peas and onions, is much more popular. Both are delicious. Smile
