www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/uniform-tax-rebate

Different rates for different professions. Nurses can claim allowance for shoes & tights.

Fluffycloudland77 · 21/07/2016 19:45

The tax office will know about professional fees, my accountant does mine. It's not hard to do yourself you just have to ask them.

SpaceKablooie · 21/07/2016 20:00

Thanks east and Fluffy, I'll have a go at doing this. I don't wear a uniform, but I understand that I can do it for the 2x sets of professional fees that I pay.

ipsogenix · 21/07/2016 20:07

I just cut down a hedge that's been annoying me for years. I was about to come on here and say about it and how the best things in life are free. However I just remembered how much it cost us to switch from renting to owning this house so we could make our own decisions about the garden. Not free after all then. Smile

Emailed the electric co today as have finally had enough of paying £77 a month in summer for electrics.

They suggested I check my water heater and make sure it's on a timer. Checked and we have a timer. But it's bloody switched off!!!! So that's a weekend job. Find instructions (not as easy as just switching on) and set timer. Tech support Ems to he rescue again.

Would just like to show off about French bakery treat dm left today. Look. Look at it!!! Fluffy chocolate sponge. With chocolate creme patisserie. C'est delicious. Oui. Le yum.

Is that water heating all night? There should be a round plastic thing on the side of the tank, fixed on with a small screw.

Switch the power to it off & check its set to 60, not 70.

Nice cake.

Tryingtosaveup · 21/07/2016 21:06

Congrats Snuggly
Enjoy your hols Creme
Well today I joined a gym £540 for the year. They had an offer on of no joining fee which tomorrow would be extra £20 . So frugal win but still
In shock. I used to go regularly before I moved house and it's the only one fairly close. There is a local authority one but it's dearer. So I can now go for a swim and sauna and there are lots of classes. It's just 9 til 4.30 membership but they said I can stay for the evening as long as I am there by 4.30 . So part win part fail , wholly scary.

Tryingtosaveup · 21/07/2016 21:08

Cag I think I may have sorted a beekeeper near you to bring bees. Will pm you later.
DP gone out for fish and chips .... And I've just joined a bloody gym!

Ememem84 · 21/07/2016 21:22

fluffy possibly. Confused it wasn't. Then our water heater broke and we had a new one fitted. So I suspect we haven't reset the timer thing. Will investigate at the weekend.

Tryingtosaveup · 21/07/2016 21:56

I have electic with GB Energy and they have emailed to say it's going up 7% in August. 7% and inflation if 0.5 or something and the price of oil has dropped. Who else on here said it happened to them... Last week or so. Sorry can't find the post.
That 's another job now. What's the cheapest way to change supplier is it TCB or USwitch?

ipsogenix · 21/07/2016 22:55

Is anybody else finding that their food bill is down since the warm weather arrived? Ours has been consistently lower for a good few weeks now. Ds often says he's not hungry, but maybe he doesn't need to heat now that we are not trying to heat ourselves?

Cagliostro · 21/07/2016 23:51

Ah, thanks very much Trying! Star :)

ipso ours is, we are eating obviously just probably not as much because it's hot.

So unbelievably happy it's Friday. It's been a shocker of a busy week I have earned the weekend!

SnugglySnerd · 22/07/2016 06:36

My food bill is about the same, probably because I keep buying strawberries and ice cream!!
Going out for lunch today. Swapped £5 of Nectar points for a voucher for 2 pizzas in Pizza Express so just need to buy drinks. Bargain!

WreckTangled · 22/07/2016 06:44

My food isn't cheaper unfortunately. Should be nsd today as I'm working 8-6:30. Oh actually I'll need to buy lunch.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2016 06:45

Off to aldi, Iceland, town and sainsburys today so will be Spendy. Have managed to meal plan for the first time in ages but will most likely still be Spendy.
Need to get some holiday stuff too.

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2016 06:46

My food bill hasn't gone down, tons of fresh stuff being consumed.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/07/2016 06:53

CremeEggThief · 22/07/2016 08:09

Trying, don't use UK Power. I'm still waiting for nearly £40 switching incentive, for using them through Topcashback, in February!Angry

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2016 08:43

I haven't fluffy. I will try it

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 22/07/2016 12:43

Been to get few party bits for ds1 6th party end Aug having a sports day party back garden last yr he had a full on one at a party venue but every other one has been in garden, he chose that so doing a sack race got kit for 2.99 they can do it relay style (will be 8-10 of them), for egg and spoon race we will use kinder eggs 2 for £1 in pound world and toto eggs 3 for £1 (fake kinder eggs) in b&m so got a mix of both. Then we have balls and Bean bahs, basketball hoop so will do few other games, do party foods cheap enough.

SnugglySnerd · 22/07/2016 15:18

Spent £15 on drinks and puddings to go with our freebie pizzas then £15 in supermarket, mainly of beer/wine as we have friends coming round tomorrow. Made appointment at bank to discuss mortgage and started panicking about what we are going to do with the stuff out of the spare room when the baby comes along!

lifelongfrugaleer · 22/07/2016 17:34

£74 sainsburys, £48 aldi, £10 Iceland,£22 bhs, 8 boyes,
Didn't pay for swimming as we will miss 4 of the next 10 per dc so x2 , refused to pay so we are skipping this block and are on the waiting list.

Ememem84 · 22/07/2016 17:37

Nsd.

One boss brought croissants and pain chocolats this morning for the office.

And my boss took me out for lunch. Moules frites and a bottle of wine. To say thank you for basically doing everything and keeping the team in check. Yippee!! Nice to be appreciated.

Waiting for Dh to finish work. I've given him until 545 and then I'm going home.
