Bugger! Needed a small top up shop and a father's day gift for my dad so went in Waitrose. Spend 50 quid! How did that happen???

lilacclery · 18/06/2016 12:20

Super excited for you girlie
Cag your children sound so sweet, mine adore each other too, my parents don't recall myself and my brother being like this & my father laughed when we were on holiday as me & my second brother were allergic to each other & are actually quite close now

Will check out about the cats, our previous cats were all only semi tame so this is first experience of pet cats

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2016 12:43

congratulations Cag. You've earned it.

PurpleRibbons · 18/06/2016 14:19

That's really exciting cag, congratulations!

CremeEggThief · 18/06/2016 14:42

Much deserved, Cag. It's nice that they want to acknowledge you.Star

Eek, Girlie, better get a wriggle on with your packing! You've got all the boxes now, haven't you? Remember, a room at a time of all non-essentials and label every box!!

Lilac, I'm Irish too, but have lived in the UK 20 years. Nearly all my Irish friends and family were amazed my cat lived to 16, as it's almost unheard of for them to live that long in Ireland. We had cats growing up, but they were feral cats who we fed and became semi-tame. My parents would never have considered taking them to the vets or pet insurance, but not many would have done with cats or small animals, in those days anyway. My friend is a dog groomer in Ireland now and another girl I went to school with is too, and that would have been unusual even ten years ago.

Spends: £42 on Sainsburys online, £10 smart meter top-up and £50 beauticians (half leg, bikini and top lip waxing, gel nails, pedicure and £3 tipSmile).

Meal plan
Today : veggie burgers and chips.
Tomorrow: nut roast, new potatoes and green beans and corn.
Monday: quiche, new potatoes and green beans.
Tuesday: quiche, chips and salad.
Wednesday: pub meal with a friend.
Thursday: tofu and veg stirfry with noodles.

lilacclery · 18/06/2016 15:52

Creme I'm interested in your nut roast recipe or being pointed in right direction of one?
That's very interesting about cats, it hasn't changed much in the country regarding small animals I'm not sure about in the cities. I would like to look after these ones as it was me that suggested we get them.

I'm very pleased with the value I got in town today too, dh's transfer had cleared!
Very pleased with Father's Day gift I've put together

Dh's present works out at half price!! And it's all the things he loves, much better than a shirt which was my original plan - frugaleering makes us creative Smile

babsmam · 18/06/2016 16:34

Cag and girlie. WOOHOO!

First communion done. Nsd today though it cost me a bloody fortune in the lead up. Freezer full of leftovers. Dd had a fab day

The Fantastic Frugalleers Meander into May.....
CremeEggThief · 18/06/2016 17:55

Oh I didn't realise, Babs. Hope you, DD and all the family had a lovely day celebrating it.

It's just a frozen one from Sainsburys, LilacSmile. It's got feta cheese in it too and only takes about 25 minutes in the oven. The BBC Good Food website has some recipes for different types of nut roasts and loaves.

CremeEggThief · 18/06/2016 17:56

Great result on your DH's pressies btw, Lilac.

Cagliostro · 18/06/2016 18:07

Thanks folks.

Congrats to your DD Babs I bet she feels all grown up :) Star

Picked DS up from the Beavers thing, he had a fab time. DD and I got an earlier train (less delays today I guess because of weekend) and browsed a lovely little music shop, I found a teaching book I needed and got DS his recorder as he'll need one for when the club starts, but he and DD can share the book which DD still has from school. Recorder was a few quid more than on Amazon, but music shops like that are a rare breed and it's use 'em or lose 'em. :(

We then recognised the (very chatty and funny) taxi driver from yesterday so he did the same round trip as yesterday :o and when we were waiting to pick DS up he switched the meter off and gave me a cheaper flat fare instead. :)

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 18/06/2016 18:20

Hello everyone we had take away last night needed at the end of a poorly week.

Today collected sports direct order and got £5 voucher for collection as they charge you delivery to store and brought ds2 some trainers at 80% off in next sz up and will stash they were 6.50!! My order was loadload stuff for ds1 in sale he is in 5-6 tops and they don't do 6-7 so got 7-8 but got 3 polo tops (martvel, spiderman and spiderman), 2 pairs flashing light trainers (batman and marvel) 1 is next sz up, a star wars raincoat, trainer socks and some chino shorts all for £40 some great bargains.

babsmam · 18/06/2016 19:01

Thanks guys. Yes we all had a good time. She was excited and nervous at the same time but did very well. Back at church tomorrow as they are presented to the church congregation.
Going to IKEA and Dfs tomorrow so will be spendy but have put it off for long enough.

Bargain father's day lilac
Cag what a top taxi driver.

babsmam · 18/06/2016 19:02

Bargain east, love a bargain

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/06/2016 19:19

Well done on the bargains east & Lilac.

£15 to Dh for his fils Father's Day malt whiskey. He says he can't tell the difference between malt and blends Angry. Makes me really angry because Dh always buys him something nice. I've told him to buy bells but he won't.

There's free chorizo on snap and save and quidco. If you have an o/h and you both have accounts it's £6 of chorizo for nothing. It's on till the 21st in asda on mattesons scavengers.

PurpleRibbons · 18/06/2016 19:23

Sounds like everyone is having busy weekends. We've had a lovely afternoon with my dad and step mum, we took DD to the park. They've gone now and DH has to go out (he's exhausted and doesn't want to) so I'm going to spend the evening trying not to think about work or drink too much! DH is grumpy about going out so he's going to drive and come home early, at least that'll make it a cheaper night for him.

Ememem84 · 18/06/2016 20:19

Will catch up properly later. But Ascot was amazing. Won about £50 I think. Grin

PurpleRibbons · 18/06/2016 20:40

Yay! Well done Em!

northender · 18/06/2016 21:09

Great result Em.
Glad your dd has had a good day Babs
Ds' thumb had made an astonishing recovery overnight with the swelling almost completely gone, so no X-ray needed.....phew! Instead, dd & I went swimming & bought goggles £13 in total, dh & ds played pitch & putt £8. £3.60 on ice creams.
This afternoon we had a fab time with dh's family, a lovely coastal walk and a pub lunch. Lots of cuddles with and photos of our gorgeous nephew. MIL paid for lunch. Now just chilling and having more baby cuddles.
Bought train tickets for tomorrow for ds & I, a bargain at £8, almost half price compared with if we waited until tomorrow.

AuditAngel · 18/06/2016 21:40

Hello all. Finally managed to catch up. The journey home from the Netherlands was much better than getting there. 4 hours to the Eurotunnel including 2 stops, then 1.5 hours at this end.

Was really busy Tuesday and Wednesday, then off to Spain on the Thursday for a wedding. It was lovely, just DH and I. Stayed near the airport Thursday night, collected MIL's car, drove up to husband's home town Friday. Had a great time. It was 38 degrees at 8 pm on Monday night when we left for the airport.

Our flight home was delayed and we got home at 3.45. Still got up to take the kids to school. Was planning on taking it easy at work on Tuesday, but instead had to do some extra, got home at 10pm, so 13 hours on 2.5 hours sleep!

Left early yesterday to collect DD1, ax DSis and I went to see Guys and dolls. Tickets were £6.50 each, I paid for early dinner £32.50, DSis paid at theatre for lounge package plus drinks £44 but I gave her £10 plus I paid £10 for programmes. Also travel card on my Oyster. £9 I think.

AuditAngel · 18/06/2016 21:49

Today, took DD1 out shopping. ££30 in Sports Direct. That was for 2 polo shirts for DH £14; new swimsuit for DD1 (bought her a new one for her birthday, but it is really hard to get on and off, so got the next size up, smaller one will move down for DD2 probably after Christmas).

Then went to TK MAXX , spent £50 from a credit voucher. That was a neck pillow for one of DD1's good friends (who s pig obsessed), a back pack and huge carved pencil for another gift for DD1's other friend, pencil for DD1; macaroons for DH, flip flops for me plus havaianas sandals for DD1, it was a good hail.

Went to Richmond. £32 in Smiggle. That included a sale water bottle for each if the DC, 3 key rings (DD1 and one for each friend). Tried to buy DD1 sandals, but couldn't find any in her size. I think
I'll order inline from Clarks.

Collected £70 order from M&S including 2 pairs of trousers for DH and 2 pairs of school trousers for DS.

£8 on lunch for DD1 and I.

I then took DD1 to the charity shop. £7.40 of her money for a huge Eyeore p,us assorted little baby clothes for the dollies.

AuditAngel · 18/06/2016 21:50

Tesco £190, but included £50 bottle for Father's Day., plus cards etc.
