I had a similar conversation with a nurse the other day fluffy. We were discussing how patients are worried they'll get told off (pre diabetes clinic) but in actual fact she's just so pleased that they've taken the time to come and see her.

babsmam · 11/06/2016 21:13

I got quite upset if I'm honest. She was listing loads of things and I'm like yip we do all of that. The only thing left is to stop letting them graze on fruit which they have open access to. Have to ban smoothies too. They were the only 2 things.
Right I need your collective knowledge on none sugar snacks that are teeth friendly and not do much fruit?
I was pissed as well as this was a third rearranged appointment, cancelled both times by then.

WreckTangled · 11/06/2016 21:17

My dc eat fruit between meals I suppose I should stop that Hmm

Umm snacks, cheese cubes, veg sticks, mini cheese scones, crackers. Tbh I think we're obsessed with snacks and if I had it my way the dc wouldn't have any, but as soon as they've finished breakfast all I hear it 'is it snack time yet?'

babsmam · 11/06/2016 21:22

I only offer snack after school and before an activity as a re fuel as tea is usually later. They are not fussed on non activity nights.
Thanks for the suggestion.

She was"I don't want to say don't eat fruit but eat it at meal times" sigh

ipsogenix · 11/06/2016 22:21

I'm being good here about not spending much. Our grocery bill is way down.

Just trying to get over this latest bug as we have so many things planned this month that it's just amazing. Much eating and chilling to try to encourage the immune system. :-)

I had planned to spend a bunch of money on the garden but my ideas keep getting cheaper and cheaper, which is great. :-)

Tryingtosaveup · 11/06/2016 22:33

cag, it's National Insect Week in a couple of weeks I think....so there will probably be stuff going on at bee clubs....there's a full day at ours with moths experts, opening of bee hives etc.

Tryingtosaveup · 11/06/2016 22:35

Isos, I'm the same with my garden. I've dug veg patches and have grand plans and little money.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 11/06/2016 22:49

Babs thats rubbish she made you feel bad, I think teeth are as much down to luck and genetics as anything else. Dd def has too much sugar as do I Blush it'd quite hard to think of non sugar snacks if fruit is out as well!

I am off to bed in a min, let dd stay up to watch Titanic, hoping its not traumatised her too much! I did turn it over a few times when I though it was getting a bit much.

We had a nice day, went to a local fete and think spent £6 ish some of which I need to recoup from dds money!

Aiming for nsd today. Dd has homework to do and Dh is going out to get my birthday present. I'll get the dc to do this years instalment in the Father's Day book.

Dh is going to pick up my nutri bullet which I've got with vouchers I don't think I've got anything to put in it though as were over budget for food at the moment I don't want to get any more.

Really need to rein in the spending now especially with summer holidays fast approaching.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/06/2016 08:20

Need new ink cartridges today, so definitely not a NSD. Hopefully, that will fix the printer.

WreckTangled · 12/06/2016 08:25

Ok lsd. £4 on virtual spinning. I'm going at 10.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/06/2016 08:42

What is virtual spinning?

WreckTangled · 12/06/2016 08:46

There's no instructor it's all done on the screen. I've not done it before but it's cheaper!

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/06/2016 08:51

Virtual spinning sounds good.

Today will be NSD.

Tomorrow is eye brow threading. Attending weddings is expensive.

babsmam · 12/06/2016 09:00

LSD today. Maybe national trust or swimming. Tis raining.
I'm feeling very down atm wonder if I need a gp trip to go back on ad's

WreckTangled · 12/06/2016 09:01

Oh babs Sad

PurpleRibbons · 12/06/2016 11:29

I worry about DD's fruit consumption affecting her teeth too. She likes crackers with hummus as a snack.
Horrible wet day here. We've watched far too much tv this morning. Might do some baking or even get the paint out later if I can face the mess!

Whataboutwhathuh · 12/06/2016 12:07

The ds's are both dairy allergic (the dietician has told me they are referring to it now as an allergy with gastro affects rather than an intolerance as making your intestines bleed isn't just a tummy ache.. Anyway) so snacks here are tough. Cold meat and crackers is the current one.

WreckTangled · 12/06/2016 12:12

Ouch what.

My dc love falafel on its own as a snack too.

Soup for lunch here today so much for summer!

CremeEggThief · 12/06/2016 12:14

Maybe it's because my DS was a very fussy eater until he was 5 or 6, but I didn't really bother with snacks. I used to give him carrot sticks or a banana sometimes, when he came home after starting school, as we used to eat at 6.30 or 7, which is very late for a young child. I have the opposite problem now, as his appetite is bigger than mine!Smile

CremeEggThief · 12/06/2016 12:16

Babs, take care of yourself. Brew Don't let the dentist get to you!

Ememem84 · 12/06/2016 13:13

Wet day here too. I've been productive this morning. Have listed a few bits on eBay. Have changed the bedding. Washings on and have tackled under the spare bed.

Just need Dh to agree to keeping his bike outside and we will have a nice guest room.

ipsos I looked into energy monitors. I figured the best thing to do was ask the electric co. They don't provide as standard (only to those in social housing apparently) but pointed me in the direction of the brand they use ( Owl). They looked promising. And the basic one was only £24 I think. Turns out though they don't work in flats - as you have to have one end plugged into the metre and it's a wireless connection. I doubt the connection would get from our flat to the reader. So it's one for the list for the new house.

Still concerned about the amount were using. £75 a month is ridiculous. Have asked the electric co to have a look and see where we're going wrong. We were on £40 a month. But in the winter this was bumped up. Heaters are electric. Towel rail is electric. Water heater is electric. Then there's fridge freezer washing machine tumbley etc. But these are used on the most Eco settings.

Maybe though it's something to research for new house...

Am being a frugal and delved right into the back of my wardrobe today. Pink skinnies. Perfect for a grey day.
