Wow! how many of us are doing loads of sport / fitness stuff. I have refound my running mojo with a run more eat less crap diet. It is really simple run 3 days 1 rest day. With no choice I just have to ignore the poor weather and the aching mucles. The eating less crap is not so easy....
Babs great news about your DS selection.
Ipsos big up for your DS & his talk too.

Cagliostro · 11/06/2016 16:37

That's annoying Em I think the supposedly cheaper companies seem to get away with actually charging more, in a way, due to all the extras, unchangeable things etc. My parents went on holiday recently and after much research dad discovered that flying with BA ended up much cheaper than easyjet and ryanair Confused. Mind you I've only ever booked flights once myself so I've not got much experience myself!

Kind of nervous about sorting it all out for next year when we will hopefully go somewhere in Europe (depends what has availability on my parents' holiday club thing so not actually sure) - have no idea how to find good rates, or how far in advance to book it or anything like that. I will be asking for the help of all the lovely frugaleers when the time comes!

Unescorted yes I was thinking that too! Lots of motivated frugaleers :)

Needless to say I'm not in a position to do this stuff at the moment which is frustrating, but somehow I am managing to make slightly better choices foodwise lately - long long way to go but I need to stop thinking 'fuck it', more so because I can't really exercise. I have a plan for when I'm a bit better, which is to join DD's ballroom dancing club. :) Hopefully now that the work situation is all sorted, I can start moving forward properly. I am still ill a lot obviously but I've definitely noticed that since work was totally out of the question I've had a lot less symptoms. :)

Ememem84 · 11/06/2016 16:47

cag our flights to Italy worked out cheaper with BA once we factored in luggage and used our avios points. Easyjet are cheaper for a weekend away though. And the times are better.

Also for our Italy trip I. August we wanted BA as we can check in all the way through (jersey gatwick gatwick Pisa and reverse). Easyjet fly all legs of the journey but make you check in at each airport. Haven't got time for that!!

Whataboutwhathuh · 11/06/2016 16:56

Did someone post their summer bucket list? If so could they post it again? I'm beginning to plan what I can do for free and cheap with the kids over The holidays. They are 3 and nine months so 3 year old is usually at preschool. I'm thinking we will be exploring all the national trust places!

babsmam · 11/06/2016 17:11

It's usually collie with the bucket list . Has she dropped off the thread?

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2016 17:49

Adorabell has left 😰

Yesterday was a NSD.

Today
£20 fuel.
£165 tiles for the kitchen. They're 90% off in the sale at 60p each.

Full price it would have been £1200. But I would have got free delivery.

Now we just have to figure out how the hell you fit glass tiles Confused.

WreckTangled · 11/06/2016 17:53

What do you mean fluffy??

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2016 18:06

I don't think Adora is coming back. It's probably much easier for her living in the uk.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 11/06/2016 18:07

Might be a NSD today.

unescorted, I feel so unfit and have put on so much weight in the last couple of years that I don't think I have much choice with the exercise. I want to get a handle on it before it gets out of control and I find I have loads to lose.

YNAB has helped me realise I have the money and can budget for a monthly membership and hopefully if I'm eating less junk then I can save a bit more from the food budget too. I do think I will go more now I'm not going to have to pay each time.

If you have pinterest, there are some good ideas for summer bucket lists on there.

WreckTangled · 11/06/2016 18:09

That's a shame I liked hearing about what she was up to.

Cagliostro · 11/06/2016 18:18

Oh I'll miss Adora :( and yes haven't heard from Collie for a while! :(

I have a huuuuge amount of weight to lose. Somehow I am maintaining, which is weird really as I've been frankly stuffing my face and obviously not burning much off at all due to not exercising, so I'm not quite sure how that works. My downfall is definitely sugar.

babsmam · 11/06/2016 18:18

Ah, good luck adora.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 11/06/2016 18:28

The Woodland trust might have some ideas you can put on a bucket list. Should all be free or low cost and you might be able to adapt them.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2016 18:49

She might be lurking but not seen her for ages now.

CremeEggThief · 11/06/2016 19:17

Wow, what a massive bargain on the tiles, FluffySmile.

I've seen Adora on other threads, but not here for a good while.

Ememem84 · 11/06/2016 19:20

£4 on two peanut butter magnums. Yum.

Now watching titanic while Dh makes dinner

Unescorted · 11/06/2016 19:22

Rafal & Cag we need a virtual personal trainer for the frugaleers. My downfall is nibbling - a taste here a snack there.... I have no will power. Fortunately I have a free gym on the hills, although new fell shoes are looking like £85. Sad

I saw Collie on a no CC thread a little while back. Adora ..... appears to have vanished.

Tryingtosaveup · 11/06/2016 19:30

Been beekeeping all day, so NSD, knackered and feeling guilty lying on sofa eating chocolate.
Cag, if you have a Home Ed group and they would like to see some bees in an observation hive (glass viewing side) if you get in touch with your local beekeepers they will probably bring them along to show the DCs.
Beekeepers regularly take them into schools so you should be no different and they don't charge. They usually bring wax honeycomb and stuff like that. You can find you local beekeeping group on the Internet.
I say this because next week I will be taking bees into my local primary school.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 11/06/2016 19:31

You've just reminded me that there's a free outdoor gym down the road.

Well an exercise bike, rowing machine and some bars for doing pull ups anyway.

WreckTangled · 11/06/2016 19:33

Oh raf I love those! None around here but they always look so cool!

PurpleRibbons · 11/06/2016 19:41

Cag Birmingham uni campus is beautiful and has it's own railway station, 5 mins into town (New St). The other unis (Aston and BCU) have new accommodation in the city centre. Lots of unis rent out accommodation in the hols, I've used it to stay in London before. It's definitely worth looking into if you want to do some more UK breaks.
Had a lovely afternoon at a charity open gardens event, my mum treated us to a cream tea too!

Cagliostro · 11/06/2016 20:07

Cheers Purple I'm definitely going to remember that! :)

Trying that is an AWESOME idea thank you! Funnily enough I got a load of stuff from Friends of the Earth for their bee campaign, and we are going to get together with a few other families and do a little learning-together type workshop. And build on stuff like food chains, plant anatomy and that kind of thing. I'm going to look up local ones now, that's fab. :)

babsmam · 11/06/2016 20:14

Oh yes we have gym equipment in the park. Handily next to a scooter park.

Having a shit day. Ds needed a filling in a molar and the next molar along has wear on it so also needed a filling. Dentist made me feel like crap even though I try and do everything right. Have to be super strict on fruit now as well as other sugars although they Don't have that much I didn't think. Dd is 2 years older and the same diet has touches wood perfect teeth. Fgs

WreckTangled · 11/06/2016 20:21

Oh babs Sad ds is three and the dentist said he has weakened enamel (it's developmental and hereditary) so will be more susceptible to tooth decay. We do everything we can but sometimes they're just unlucky. Our dentist also reminds us not to rinse your mouth out after you've brushed, says most people don't need mouthwash, water only between meals etc etc I'm sure you know all this. I'm unlucky with my teeth too yet my siblings are fine.

Fluffycloudland77 · 11/06/2016 20:49

I'll never understand why some hcp make patients feel like crap, it's never the way to achieve whatever their desired outcome is.
