Sorry to hear about the job Creme
Hope your mum improves quickly lilac

Good day here, all took packed lunches & then spaghetti plus bits & pieces from the fridge for tea. Dd is at drama now, dh playing cricket & it's a nice evening so I may wander to the cricket club for a drink later. Nothing else to report

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/05/2016 19:19

Creme def apply for anything you are entitled to, thats rubbish re the job and yy to that being a rubbish reason not to give it to you.

Audit that all sounds rather stressful, hope your mum is o.kay Flowers

Cag that sounds like a lovely birthday for your dd.

Have had a busy day here, worked 8-4pm then home cooked dinner (sausage roast) then back out to dds swimming lesson for 6pm. Just sitting down now for 5 mins before starting on the clearing up.

Not spent anything though Grin

The count down has well and truly begun till our Menorca holiday!! It was 2 weeks ystd until we go Smile seriously can not wait.

WreckTangled · 18/05/2016 19:24

Nsd.

SpaceKablooie · 18/05/2016 19:25

Audit, I hope your Mum is okay.

Creme, that's bad luck about the job interview. Chin up, and treat it as good experience for the next interview. I think that you should consider claiming JSA - it's a benefit available to eligible people, and you're eligible!

NSD so far for me, DH bought double cream though.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/05/2016 19:32

Oh and forgot to say the school have authorised the 2 days I am taking dd out for the holiday Shock I was so shocked!! I didn't think they would fine me but I did think they would go down as unauthorised, they must have agreed we really do need a holiday Grin

PurpleRibbons · 18/05/2016 20:51

Great news girlie!
I cooked pasta for tea planning to make enough for lunches tomorrow. It seems to have expanded, we'll be eating it for days!! I suppose that's quite frugal though.

Laska5772 · 18/05/2016 21:14

Oh hello Frugaleers!..and thanks Lila for PM'ing me ... I have been a bit AWOL -Life and all that - but havent been posting on on MN much at all really , just the odd post in 'jolly' threads .. .. But I ive been reading too many contentious MN posters else where and sort of forgot that the 'nice' frugaleers corner of MN existed IFYSWIM. Hope you are all well and things have been going ok for you. I expect if it is anything like when I was here before , there are lots of people I havent 'met' here, but I hope i'm the only one of the 'oldies' to go AWOL recently.

Anyway, thanks so much for thinking of me and baby Eliza .. There is some very good news there, she has been discharged from the cardiac unit , because the problem there seems to have righted itself , and the latst MRI scan last week showed all the blood on her brain has dispersed and brain activity seems quite normal .. We are very relieved of course .. She is behaving in all the ways a 3 month baby should and so we have everything crossed that she has made a full recovery .. Its just a 'wait and see' how she reaches her developmental milestones now..

Obviously DD and family are really thrilled after all they have gone through , and the latest photos definately look like she is smiling .. (obviously I cant post then up as she is not my child ) . The other two DGCs are fine and so are we all.

Frugalling.. well .. .I cant say I have been very frugal ( we bought a new car , sort of on a whim!, and Yes, It was my fault.. you see, the old one needed some special Honda oil, and the car salesman at the garage saw me admiring an almost new car , pounced and I fell for it! Blush) . Its a loverley car though (and all red and shiny !) ..

But I have stuck to my personal and other household budgets and am pleased to report that despite a bit ok lots Blush of summer clothes shopping, I still have savings in the bank and NO credit card bill..

Ok, those who remember me know I am a sucker for a new bit of gear to put on my back . But I have also lost 20lbs in since the beginning of the year so I do have an excuse ( as if I ever needed one Wink) .

But its only 6 weeks to our holiday and as well as the new bikinis etc , I do need to get my spending money together, so it was a timely Pm from lila and I was only thinking yesterday I should start to post here again. I have been keeping up with my YNAB though and all is good,

So how is everyone doing ? What's the gossip?

Girlie did the new house happen?

.
.

Laska5772 · 18/05/2016 21:15

CremeEggThief · 18/05/2016 21:26

Hurrah, Laska. Welcome back!GrinWine

PurpleRibbons · 18/05/2016 21:46

Welcome back Laska!! (I've had a fairly recent name change btw). So pleased to hear good news about baby Eliza. You sound like you've been busy!

needastrongone · 18/05/2016 21:52

Aww bloody hell Creme, that doesn't sound like much of an excuse. Incredibly disappointing there for you. Sometimes, these things are decided before the interview process you know...

Great news about DS's thorn Ipsos, quite a size that, poor little thing.

Welcome back Laska. Great news about your DGD, super. Hope you enjoy the new car, and well done on the weight loss. Any particular diet that you followed?

Good news about the authorised absence Girlie.

Hope you mum is ok Audit, you must all be so worried.

60p for a packet of Polos, bloody hell!!!

Cagliostro · 18/05/2016 21:56

Nice to see you Laska and with happy news too! :)

Sorry about your mum Audit that sounds horrible and very frustrating Thanks

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 18/05/2016 22:11

Lovely to hear from you Laska so glad your dgd is doing well thats brilliant news. My house is happening but slowly!! I think we are almost in the final stages now though hopefully be in within the next month or so if all goes to plan Smile

Laska5772 · 18/05/2016 22:23

Thanks everyone! ill be back tomorrow and catch up a bit and hopefully post some more !
Great news on the house girlie !

Whataboutwhathuh · 18/05/2016 22:48

Welcome back laska

Back from my last weekend away and I've given three months notice of my resignation. Really need to get my spending under control now. I'm going to see if my MacBook still works and if it does I'll try YNAB.

Tryingtosaveup · 18/05/2016 22:50

Crime, that sounds like a set up to me, but you'd think they could have made it less obvious. Don't lose your confidence because it had nothing to do with your skills or experience. It is definitely their loss.
And do claim everything you are entitled to. Why not? That's what it's there for.
Sorry about your mum Audit, hope sh's ok soon. Parents nights can be scary but I bet your DS will get a good report.
£25 in Aldi, most of it on a water butt.

Tryingtosaveup · 18/05/2016 22:52

sorry, meant Creme....bloody autocorrect !

babsmam · 19/05/2016 06:23

Crème and audit Flowers

Welcome it was.
Ooo what exciting and scary. You're finally being able to go for being a sahp.

Ememem84 · 19/05/2016 06:43

Today will be nsd.

WreckTangled · 19/05/2016 07:03

Audit that sounds awful! Hope your mum makes a speedy recovery.

Girlie that's amazing! I still haven't got my form back and we go next week Blush they're strict on authorising though.

Laska welcome back! No way is E three months already! Pleased to hear she's doing well Smile

Wow what are you going to be a SAHM? How are you feeling about it?

Today should be a nsd. Work and swimming lessons.

beesarethebest · 19/05/2016 07:25

Hello laska welcome back!! Smile

Will be another Nsd i think. Tend to spend more on the weekend when I'm out of the office!!

WreckTangled · 19/05/2016 07:28

lila I have been healthy eating and exercising for a whole two weeks (I know get me Wink) and I haven't lost any weight. I'm not expecting miracles but I was hoping for 1lb a week or something! Where am I going wrong?!

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/05/2016 08:00

What What do you for a living?.

ipsogenix · 19/05/2016 13:06

Audit sorry to hear you've had such a ghastly week. That was a real humdinger. Is your dm any better? I've known 6 people who've had meningitis, which is quite a lot for what's meant to be a rare disease.

creme sorry to hear about the interview. That really does sound like an internal candidate. Great that you got an interview though. Yay! for that.

Lovely to see you back Laska. I'm so glad that all is well with your DGD. I must admit it makes me happy to hear of you enjoying a bit of clothes shopping, especially when you are keeping up your YNAB. I've learned to be a bit kinder to myself through Frugaleering and it's been a useful life lesson.

ipsogenix · 19/05/2016 13:45

There's a good thread about grocery shopping cheaply going at the moment:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/2640907-to-ask-how-i-can-cut-our-food-cost?pg=3

I'm still rubbish at this.

Thrillingly, I managed to make a single meal that did for all three members of the family last night. It was epic.
