Cag your teaching is really taking off well done!!

CremeEggThief · 12/05/2016 19:58

I had a wander around Newcastle today, with not much money at all. I had a voucher for free coffee and cake in John Lewis, so treated myself to the most expensive cake I could see there (£3.50 a slice!Shock). Spends: £7.80 bus and £1.05 on a cheese and onion pasty for an early lunch.

Em, great result on the flightsSmile.

Cag, I hope your DS makes a quick recovery.

Tryingtosaveup · 12/05/2016 20:00

I have had a LSD....just eggs and milk. I am using up everything on the freezer before I shop again. Trying to save up for new windows. It will be a long time saving but I am trying not to borrow.
I want to take my little DGD to the Space centre in the cool holidays. She is 7. So Cag please get lots of info. I see that you can book vis website and get upgrade so I might do that if it's really good. I thought I might also take her the Leicester cathedral to see where king Richard 3 is buried....I am sure there are some really good stuff in Leicester for little ones....please let me know.
I live about an hours drive away I think, but maybe hour and a half, will look it up.
Thanks for all your welcomes

Super ultra garlic chicken pasta for dinner.

girlie I can't change a tyre. I'm of the "call dad/husband" school of mechanics. I can change windscreen washer stuff, wiper blades and air filter though. Tyres are far too tricky.

lilacclery · 12/05/2016 20:43

And em I fail at the wiper blades every single time!

Super garlic chicken sounds like my thing dh has an ulcer so we don't get to use much garlic in my house Sad

I've been shopping frugally this evening, we're away in 3 weeks so I've been adding a little extra diesel every week so that it's not such a big expense when we go away. I now have a full tank which I'll top up each week until then. Using my loyalty card I got 2c off per litre so saved me 59c.
Same loyalty card got me a 90 wash box of surf reduced by 1.99 & the hand soap for work at half price(still debating if I'll take full price from work for it-I'm very honest so probably won't)
2l of local milk was 2.62 but 2x1l was €1.78 Grin and I got a 16 pack of toilet roll for €4.99 plus loyalty points on all of the above must log in & see what my balance is.

Thanks to our newest delurker for saying this is the nicest thread on mumsnet it totally is GrinGrinFlowersFlowers

needastrongone · 12/05/2016 21:04

Big cake then Creme Grin

Grin Cag. Clearly, your DS isn't suffering, you would know if he was, as per your DSD. Tough little cookie, that kid of yours.

Purple. I have a DS in Y11, exams start next week. I am in awe of his teachers at the minute, you must have stress coming out of your eyeballs.

The bloody dog killed one of my chickens tonight, he's never shown any interest before, bloody hell......

I wouldn't know how to change a tyre Girlie, I can do water and oil and stuff, but not a tyre.

WreckTangled · 12/05/2016 21:10

Oh no need wonder what made him do that?

Girlie I can't change a tyre either and would always call my dad or the RAC before I had dh BlushGrin

Cag poor ds he is obv v brave Smile

Lilac I recently got some sketchers from sports direct they're so comfy shame your order was cancelled

That's good on the flights em!

WreckTangled · 12/05/2016 21:11

Poor ds is really suffering with hay fever it's causing him to cough so badly I feel another bad night coming on....

needastrongone · 12/05/2016 21:18

I don't know wrecked. I know the ponies are a bit mental at the minute, as there's lots of sugar in the spring grass and the mares come into season, but what possessed the dog, I don't know. DH says I should have whacked him, I have never hit my dog and I never would, that's hardly going to teach him, he won't associate the two things.

Lorotadine (Clarityn) is the most effective for the least side affects, that's from a consultant dermatologist, the benefits of knowing a lot of medical folk. Cheaper alternatives using the same components are on sale at Aldi and Superdrug. x

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 12/05/2016 21:28

Oh no need bad dog!

Glad its not just me that is clueless when it comes to cars, I can put petrol in one and can fill the window washer thingy up with water but that really is about it. One of these days I will do a cars for beginners type course as it would save you lots of £££ if you could do your own services etc.

WreckTangled · 12/05/2016 21:35

Loratadine isn't touching it nor is piriton Sad

I wouldn't have hit the dog, but I don't believe in smacking anyone apart from dh Grin hopefully he won't do it again

lilacclery · 12/05/2016 22:36

Wreck everyone has good things to say about them. Did you get your normal size or not? My cousin recommended going a size downConfused
I will order from another site.
Annoyed about cash back as I'm only getting started & this was one of my first shops through it

Dog probably didn't mean to kill. Sad

lilacclery · 13/05/2016 05:53

Aargh thought I had conquered this. For past two years every time I got a sore throat it was followed quickly by folliculitis requiring a visit to gp & antibiotic. Last time 6 months ago gp told me just ring for prescription as I can self diagnose now saving me €35. Haven't had it since, had beginnings of a headcold all week & bam woke up with folliculitis, will take antihistamine now & ring gp as soon as they open for prescriptionAngry

On a better note I emailed my area manager to query the rate for covering class on tues. I understood it was €25, it's €50! Grin score! Even though it'll now be going on antibiotics!

WreckTangled · 13/05/2016 06:51

Woo hoo lilac! Hope you get the abx sorted. I got normal size and they're perfect. My get are really painful at the moment and they're the only thing I can wear.

babsmam · 13/05/2016 06:58

Oh need. They sometimes get ideas in their heads. My ddog does random things sometimes. I wouldn't hit him either.

I love my sketchers go walk 2. Didn't like the go walk 3. I get a 5 but am normally a 5.5 in Clark's.

Brave DS cag. Shame about the room though, maybe start at home and look at rooms later.

Result on the class lilac. Sorry you are poorly again.

Trying - new walk museum is good for kids and free, further out is oak park farm nice n cheap, brockshill country park- Free

lilacclery · 13/05/2016 07:55

babs it was the go walk 2 I was buying, simply because they're cheaper delighted to hear that you like them better too. I take 6 so I think ordering 5 is a bit too much of a risk to take. The antihistamine has helped to calm the rash down.

well done to your ds - having them at class at same time would be so much easier.

cag would it be possible to do the class in one of the other home ed parents homes and tutor their child for free?

EvaDelectorskaya · 13/05/2016 09:23

Lilac - hope you feel better soon.
Thanks for your mention of Irish cashback sites earlier in the week,
I didn't know they existed, so I have signed up to a couple of them and am looking forward to trying them out.
Today will be a spendy ish day, I'm going out tonight and I'm getting my hair done after work. Just a blow dry though, and I won't be drinking as I have to drive home so it shouldn't be too bad.
Will prob have a half hour or so time to kill before my blow dry though so I'm going to have a wander around the shops looking for work clothes, that could push spends up for the day!

lilacclery · 13/05/2016 10:56

EVA just look and buy online through the cashback sites!

Do you do Irish opinion surveys? They're great.

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 11:51

Hello :-)

Sorry I've got behind a bit in the thread.

It's just a general pediatrician that we're going to see, but I suppose that they will refer us on if needed. I'm going to see a very specialist hearing person too, who used to be head of audiology at our local hospital so I hope she will give us advice on who to see. She may at least suggest to the GP that we have an NHS audiology referral. I asked for that before and the GP said no.

We've been told that nothing can be done so many times by so many top specialists that I don't feel very hopeful about it all. I am just going to keep going to see people and keep explaining and perhaps someone will have a brainwave.

EvaDelectorskaya · 13/05/2016 11:56

Lilac - no I don't, I'll look into them though!

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 12:14

Our weather has changed really dramatically today. It was boiling hot and sunburn weather for a few days and now it's really quite cold. I can't seem to get going today and I'm wondering if it the very radical change in temperature. Does anyone else have this weird weather?

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 12:47

btw I've started a thread on Children's Health to ask for advice about pediatrician visit, to avoid derailing frugaleering. :-)

Cagliostro · 13/05/2016 13:40

Good idea re: doing the class at somebody else's house thanks! That could work if it was somewhere near enough (some of the friends who'd be willing live too far away and I'd lose a lot of earnings on travel IYSWIM). :)

Sorted out broadband today, by accident as my provider phoned me. Now paying slightly more for unlimited, but will end up around £10pcm cheaper because we've been paying excess data charges every month Blush. So that's good. Must get printer sorted now as it's embarrassingly silly having it without being able to use it. Hmm Blush

DH was on the wrong tax code. Should get a couple of hundred back next month. :)
