ps I noticed that Aldi have loads on gluten free stuff on offer at the minute, I know there's a few on here with intolerances.

CremeEggThief · 13/05/2016 15:36

Chilly here too. Only about 9•.

Just had the very upsetting news that one of DS's teachers died yesterday. He only had her for 1 lesson a week and as far as I know, I never met her, but it's still shocking.Sad

Cagliostro · 13/05/2016 15:39

Oh that's horrible Creme :( hope DS is ok.

Need thanks for the heads up! DH is a coeliac. We don't have an Aldi here yet (one in the pipeline apparently) but I think mum does.

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 16:36

Thanks Need. I've noticed Tesco also have a huge "free from" range now. Apparently the are "realigning with the market", so db tells me. I'm really glad they are because it helps us a lot. Up until recently Tesco just felt like a things-with-wheat-in shop.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/05/2016 17:01

Hi all, its beautiful and sunny here! British weather is weird.

Have been working all day and am knackered, so glad it is Friday and looking forward to the wend Smile LSD £3.80 on ice creams as our Friday treat.

Is there some Catholic frugelleers? I seem to remember someone saying they were, anyway we have been invited to see dds friends Holy Communion on Sunday at a local Catholic church, anyone give me the heads up on what to expect, will it be smart dress code and do you normally take a gift? I have no experience of the Catholic church at all.

PurpleRibbons · 13/05/2016 17:24

NSD so far but going out for dinner and drinks with friends later. Going to be restrained though, have an early start tomorrow.
Happy weekend!

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 17:56

Girlie I have some idea in my head that NK5 was Catholic. Is that right?

lilacclery · 13/05/2016 17:57

Hi girlie I'm Catholic even though I don't attend church frequently.
For attending a communion it would be smart dress & usually some cash in a card, family might do little gifts.
My godmother got me a children's bible for mine. We have bought q bracelet & earrings for dgd communion in a few weeks but in consultation with her mother so she doesn't end up with ten

-€11.61 for antibiotics but doctors receptionist waived the charge for writing the prescription, she's a friend of my husband

WreckTangled · 13/05/2016 18:12

Creme that's so sad Sad

Ds has been given an inhaler but nothing else he can take as too young. I'm going to buy local honey tomorrow.

We just had a bloody sparrow hawk almost fly into our kitchen, had it not been for dh's ninja skills it would probably be stuck in our house!

Tryingtosaveup · 13/05/2016 19:05

If you want local honey it will be best from a local beekeeper. You can google " beekeeping association in ....your area" and email them and explain what you want. It happens all the time and they are usually happy to help. I am a beekeeper but don't live in your area.
Those places in Leicester sound great and cheap too so I will be looking them up.
NSD here so little bit more saved up.

WreckTangled · 13/05/2016 19:09

Thanks trying I'll give it a go if I don't have any luck at our local shop. (We're v rural and it's the type of shop that sells eggs from their neighbours chickens etc) if not there's a farm shop down the road. Will Google bee keepers association right now though thanks

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 19:39

My db makes honey in essex.

beesarethebest · 13/05/2016 19:55

Hi girlie I'm Catholic. Just had ds' holy communion too! This is the season. You can give them some money and a card. That'll be fine. Or actually any gift (if they aren't fussed). We got a book token, a book, some flowers. No real need to be super dressy. Certainly not to the level you would go for a wedding. The family will be dressed up but if you wear smartish clothes, you'll be fine! Smile

beesarethebest · 13/05/2016 19:59

Just spent the other bit of money for flights home. £2000. ConfusedShockWhich was not bad considering its for 3 of us. So I think it's 3 months of beans on toast really. Kids not doing holiday camp this may so that should save some money. And of course not doing holiday camp in summer so I'm not going to panic. Our holiday camps would have worked out another £400 which obviously is less than the cost of flights but still.

Had a good meeting with the bank today. I think we will go with them for the new mortgage. Can't wait for the changes in the house!!

babsmam · 13/05/2016 20:24

I'm catholic too and agree with the others. Smart but not wedding level of dress. Token gift is fine.
Nsd today.

Unfrugalness. I've booked a tattoo on Monday. Have been dithering about it for a while now. And finally booked it in. yippee

WreckTangled · 13/05/2016 20:28

Ooo em what you getting?

Ememem84 · 13/05/2016 20:49

Three little swallow birds. Right wrist.

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 21:00

A bit frugaleering from earlier in the year has worked well for me. I bought spring bulbs wholesale in January and the lawn is now full of big blue irises which really look lovely. They only cost about £4 for 30 of them too.

Ememem84 · 13/05/2016 21:27

Wow ipso I bet it looks lovely. Cannot wait till we have a garden. I'm going to grow so much!!!

ipsogenix · 13/05/2016 21:48

Thanks Em. I feeling quite pleased with it really.

That's exciting about your tatoo plan. Is it going to be on your shoulder or ankle or thereabouts? We have a tatoo shop at the end of our road and I like how all of the people who come and go look so utterly delighted about life. They seem to stand about 3" taller than their natural height just because they are so pleased about their visit to the shop.

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 13/05/2016 21:50

Thanks for the Holy Communion tips, will have to have a look through the wardrobe for something to wear. I could do with some new smarter sandals so might have a look tomos, dd needs some as well. Do the services go on a while? Someone at work said to take sandwiches Grin card and money sounds fine.

Am so tired going to go to bed in a min, dd was in floods of tears earlier as a couple of the girls local to us weren't being very nice. Usual 9-10yo stuff like running away from her for no reason but then had the cheek to knock for her again, the red cloud descended and they left sharpish. I am normally quite a laid back person but upset my girl and you will know about it Grin

We then had a nice time cuddled up and watched Cinderella, I am still waiting for my prince Charming to turn up Hmm Wink
