All this talk of Waterstones and hedgehogs is making me a bit envious!
I've had a lovely day too though, took DD to her baby dance class the went to Waitrose to get a few treats as we're having our mums over for lunch tomorrow. That was £33. Picked up the free Waitrose magazine which has such useful articles as using up leftover pine nuts and which type of tea to match with your hot cross buns. I don't think Waitrose are in the real world sometimes!
Continued with the big clear out and took a car load of junk to the tip. Feel so much better for doing that.
I'm now having some quiet time while DH and DD do some mother's day baking.

WreckTangled · 05/03/2016 16:18

What's wrong with feta and bbq?! Grin

Pointlessfan · 05/03/2016 16:20

I think feta and bbq would be quite nice.

Colliefeatures · 05/03/2016 16:27

I misread that as feta at B&Q. Ha!

Fuzz yeah, pretty much any coastal carparks are pricey from Easter until mid October. Last year we went to a slightly "rough" seaside town / village just for a nose and even that carpark was £4! It's unnecessary in certain poorer areas.

WreckTangled · 05/03/2016 16:36

The car park at our nearest beach is £7 in the summer!

babsmam · 05/03/2016 16:36

That sounds lovely em to wish the next bride happiness.
£10 in Waterstones, £10 in Costa bleeding fortune.
£2 parking, £7 skatepark.

I've decided batch cooking and freezing is not for me. I can't seem to warm them up well. I will run down the bits we have left then not bother in future

fuzzpig · 05/03/2016 16:57

Costa bleeding fortune arf :o

Pointless I can't envisage a situation where I would need ideas as to how to use up pine nuts, I loooove them. They are one of the only 'fancy' food items we buy, I blame my parents for always having them in the house. Actually I might incorporate them into the meal plan. Rice with bacon, leek, pepper and pine nuts is lovely and used to be a staple meal for us.

It's been nice to be reassured about older DCs still playing with toys BTW so thank you folks. I think I don't need to worry really was possibly an excuse to go mad on toys this year - she is quite a young 8 anyway and now she's away from the peer pressure at school (it was particularly intense at her junior school, all about gadgets and make up etc) she's even more comfortable in herself and her (often rather nerdy) interests :) still, sometimes I look at her and just can't believe how grown up she looks. It's a bizarre mix of immense pride and sadness and broodiness for another one :)

fuzzpig · 05/03/2016 16:58

I feel similar about batch cooking sometimes babs I have a few things that I do batch cook but mostly I think our freezer space is better used for things like frozen veg

Fluffycloudland77 · 05/03/2016 17:26

NSD.

SpaceKablooie · 05/03/2016 17:27

And ipsos, thanks for the fruit only jam suggestion, I've bought that previously. However, I'm doing this for my teeth, so I think I just need to be jamless at the moment. I realise I'm being pretty hardline, but I think it's quite easy for me to fib to myself underestimate how much refined sugar I actually eat.

fuzzpig · 05/03/2016 17:43

You are far more determined than I, Space! I am a sugarholic.

I quite like just plain buttered toast now, so don't always have jam on it. Must be salted butter though (thankfully I am supposed to have this - I have POTS and was advised to have more salt in my diet) :o

Well I was having a nice time watching a non-DC-friendly film that I got the other day to cheer myself up after the meeting (Princess Mononoke - DCs like anime too but this is rather bloody and violent IIRC) as the DCs had gone to play the neighbour's house, they came back here though so I saw like 15mins of it. Spongebob is really not the same. Hmm

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 05/03/2016 17:54

I hear you re car park fees, I think its really naughty how much they hike the prices up Angry

Tayto thankyou, dds bump has gone down loads, its amazing how quickly kids heal Smile she still has a mark over her nose but am hoping its not going to scar too badly. Yes exciting re the house am starting to let myself believe it might actually happen now!

We have just had a nice tea of pizza and salad, getting quite into salads at the moment! Dd doesn't eat 'salad' but does eat beetroot, carrot, avocado and cucumber as long as its not mixed up together Hmm

Had a nice afternoon, dd enjoyed riding and then we popped in at the reuse shop on the way back. Its one of ddd favourite places Grin she found a massive hamster cage with loads of accessories for £5, am hoping its going to be hamster escape proof! Am currently putting all the bits and pieces through the dishwasher.

Popped into Lidls and got loads for £34, that included EPO - Fuzz it was 99p for 45 capsules Grin complete bargain!

Dd has been a bit off colour since getting home, says her arm hurts and has a teeny temp, always something with kids isn't there! We are watching one of the old James Bond films, dd hasn't seen them before and is hooked - not sure I completely approve of her watching them as they are so sexist!!

WreckTangled · 05/03/2016 18:01

Girlie my dc won't eat salad either. They'll eat cherry tomatoes and olives and dd will eat carrot sticks as well but that's it! Cucumber, peppers, celery etc no chance.

Ememem84 · 05/03/2016 18:29

Watching et. Bawling my eyes out. I forgot how lovely scary and sad this movie is.
Thai veg curry and basmati rice and a ginger beer for dinner.

WreckTangled · 05/03/2016 18:30

Mmm I love ginger beer

fuzzpig · 05/03/2016 18:43

Ooh thanks for the tip re: EPO - my mum often shops in Lidl so I'll ask if she can keep an eye out :)

Pointlessfan · 05/03/2016 18:56

I love pine nuts too fuzz, haven't had any for ages. I like to toast them before eating.
Had lovely dinner, used spag bol from freezer to make lasagne and had spicy sweet potato wedges with it.
DH and DD made the biggest chocolate cookies I have ever seen, they are enormous! Going to test one in a minute...

fuzzpig · 05/03/2016 18:58

Pretty certain you need a bigger sample size to test them properly, Pointless

SpaceKablooie · 05/03/2016 19:12

I've only been refined sugar-free for 5 days or so fuzz Grin. Although DH made me a cheese, lettuce, and salad cream sandwich today without thinking about it. It was lovely Smile, but I suppose I should give up salad cream as well. I even had fish and chips without any tomato ketchup last night Shock.

I can't quite decide whether giving up refined sugar is a great idea or a terrible one Confused.

SpaceKablooie · 05/03/2016 19:13

/ feels Envy of Ponintless's cookies

SpaceKablooie · 05/03/2016 19:14

*Pointless's

CremeEggThief · 05/03/2016 19:20

Argh, I just lost a long postAngry. The gist of it was yesterday was spendy (about £92.80 in total, on clothes, travel, food and paint) and today was £5.09, on cider, Maltesers and rubber gloves, in the local shop.

I painted the kitchen copper blush today. I think I like it, but I need to do another coat tomorrow, which is a pacing decision. DS is with his dad until tomorrow night, so we'll have an Indian takeaway when he comes home. I'm SO looking forward to it, as we haven't had one since June, soon after we moved in!

I hope everyone is well and I'll catch up later. Gorgeous nails btw, Adora.

Pointlessfan · 05/03/2016 20:03

Sorry about the cookies, that was a bit tactless in light of the talk about cutting out sugar.
they are delicious though

SpaceKablooie · 05/03/2016 20:16

GrinWink

fuzzpig · 05/03/2016 20:37

5 days is 4.9 days more than I could manage :o

On another note FNNRNRRRRHGGGH why is my brain dead while I'm trying to do the Tesco order?! Basket filling up with treaty stuff (by order of DH for Mother's Day. Twist my arm) but can I think of any actual MEALS? Can I hell.

Still. It's the last week of DH in his horrible job (incidentally he caught a repeat shoplifter today) and I just want it to be as easy as possible. So will get lazy stuff again I think.
