It's official now, I'm not going back to my job. Applying for redeployment.

Finally building my Christmas Lego set to cheer myself up!

Ememem84 · 03/03/2016 17:24

Oh fuzz

Nsd today. That's 3 in a row for me.

Totally unfrugal evening planned. We are staying at a lovely hotel. And having a million course dinner and wine. It was a present from Dhs godmother for Christmas. I am excited. It's not somewhere we've stayed at before (as we have a flat here but it's winter and the hotels are empty). Makes it even nicer that it's freeeeee!!!!

babsmam · 03/03/2016 17:30

Fuzz Flowers
£84 about to be spent on swimming lessons rebook x2 dc

Pointlessfan · 03/03/2016 17:38

Those were good bargains shutup.
Hope you are ok fuzz.
After my impulse buy of the cross stitch yesterday I impulse bought a dvd on Amazon for £2.99 but they gave me back £1 to spend another time so really only £1.99. NSD today but DH bought teabags £1
Have a banging headache.

CremeEggThief · 03/03/2016 17:43

FuzzSt DavidsChocolate. Post if it helps. Have fun building your Lego set. Good idea to have a treat lined up after such an emotionally draining time.

£7 bus fare to work and 52p on a slice of ginger cake.

Fuzz have a very usnmumsnetty hug. Flowers

IdStillRatherBeKnitting · 03/03/2016 17:59

Oh fuzz FlowersCake
Please post pic of lego when done. I so want to buy grown up lego sets, but Shock they are so expensive! Can't justify it for me, so shall stick to making trucks for ds to destroy (would my parents think it wierd if I asked for one for my birthday?)

Good news money wise, dp sold a boring yet expensive hobby item, and kept £200 to buy himself another boring hobby item, and fave me £300 cash! I shall use this instead of my debit card until it is gone, so next week then! And exp says money should be through (it's not).

nsd, having burrito type wraps for tea.

AdoraBell · 03/03/2016 18:12

fuzz hope you enjoy doing the Lego, and the redeployment works out well.

Spendy afternoon here, DDs had to stay in school for course work and I was in town so we met up at the coffee shop. Not a good combo.

£15 on food
£16 on 2 lipsticks, I got the Max factor free gift, thanks for posting about that Wreck (I think it was Wreck)
£10 on something DH ordered, I will get that back
£30 in Sainsbo's on socks, underwear, chicken and sausages
£2.25 on coffee and snack in Sainsbo's coffee shop

DD1 also got the Max Factor gift set using what was left of Feb's pocket money.

lilacclery · 03/03/2016 18:12

Hey all [waves]
Bought some groceries €14.95 in SuperValu yesterday & got a spit out of 5% off another shop or €10 off my electricity bill. I'm taking it off my electricity bill. Got good value for my money too which is rare enough for that shop too. This is my second spit of this kind since January.

'Bought' 2 free books on Amazon through bookbub yesterday & got £1 off amazon video Grin

Getting on well with ynab. Yesterday my tesco visa bill came & for once I've paid in what's due over past few days & will be making that payment too. Just set up a standing order of €7 weekly a month ago & it has really focused my mind on reducing the balance as much as I can.

Ememem84 · 03/03/2016 18:20

fuzz yes! Please post pics of the Lego. I love Legos. I find it very soothing.

bootygirl · 03/03/2016 18:43

€25 on 'food' it included sweets. PMS 😔😉 although most for the men in my life?! So since 1st of March I have spent €50. On bits?! No wonder my food bill is so high😳😳😳
Had to give kids €30 for sleepovers. €12 on getting my brows waxed tinted & eyelashes. TBF it's been three months.

Laska5772 · 03/03/2016 19:19

I ought to add that the £319 was for two new pairs of glasses , and getting my reading sunglasses re glazed.. and what ive read on another thread , it seems that ive done pretty well.

Need laser eye surgery is great , id recommend it any day and IMHO was definately worth it ..However it wont stop normal age-related degeneration later on life and the need for reading glasses.. but I havent needed long distance glasses since I had it done in 2000.( before that I could hardly see my own hand out of one eye! - the other was super-normal ) . I went over 10 years with no glasses at all and have only had (weak) reading glasses in the last 5 (remember, I'm 58). I wouldnt need to go to get presciption ones at all except for the fact that one of my eyes isnt quite the 'right' shape it seems (and no.. I dont have a half bug-eyed face Wink!). However it was v.v expensive , but I went to a top eye surgeon though (on a recommendation form another eye surgeon). They didnt do it in opticians those days and I still wouldnt do that...I reckon in these things you definately get what you pay for . I only had one eye done but I would have the other one done in a flash (no pun intended Grin) if it needed it .

spends today:
£83.17 in Sainsburys , but we have DGS and Ds here fo r the weekend..
£15 on a waterproof mattress cover .. am thinking that DGS (3)is old enough for a bed now , rather than the travel cot..

A question maybe one of you can help me with? is do i present him with fait accompli ( he has bed at home now, or do I go with the travel cot still.. he seems to like it .(is here without mum).

needastrongone · 03/03/2016 19:30

Laska Would your DGS enjoy the comfort of the travel cot do you think, without Mum? At 3 he would still fit in no? Does he have a special toy or blanket if you put him in a bed? First instinct is travel cot, but not sure why! Thanks re eye surgery, I am blind as a bat too, I'm 44 though, surely too old?

I have just found out that I am hosting Mother's Day, for 12 people!!

Fuzz Post if you need Flowers Is now the time to mention we have an unopened Millenium Falcon in the loft? Smile

Enjoy your night Em

Had an Aldi gammon joint for tea, which I soaked 3 times (DH not a massive fan), then roasted in a maple syrup, mustard and sugar marinade, with honey roasted carrots, leeks and broccoli and jacket spuds. Cooking is therapy for me and there's hardly any left.... beware the male teenager!

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 03/03/2016 19:31

Hi all, just signing in.

Had another very busy day, think have found a solicitor now so all being well should get that finalised tomorrow - eek!

Have managed a NSD although have paid the last bit off of dds residential trip which will be this summer, that was £54. Need to have a look at my account and work out a budget for the rest of the month....

Fuzz

Ipsos · 03/03/2016 19:36

Sorry hear that fuzz. I hope that if the good lord opens a window for you then he makes sure it's a fantastic one with fabulous view.

northender · 03/03/2016 19:41

Ridiculously spendy day here. £160 between Aldi, fishmonger, butcher etc. But I have got enough food for the next couple of weeks (bar a few fruit/veg/dairy top ups) and enough meat & fish for at least 25 meals, so 4+ weeks with a few veggie options thrown in. So, all in all, not as bad as it first sounds. My challenge now is to only buy the top ups that we really need.
£30 on Mother's Day flowers for mil. Pricey but always much appreciated.
Sorry to hear about your redeployment fuzz. Enjoy building your Lego!

Meal Plan (inc yesterday)
Wed: Pasta with tomato & veg sauce
Thurs: Chicken fajita type wraps
Fri:Gammon, mash & veg
Sat:oven baked cod & wedges
Sun:slow cooked lamb & potatoes
Mon:Jack Monroe's kidney bean & carrot burgers
Tues:Spag bol

Laska5772 · 03/03/2016 19:44

need I was thinking that .. he doesnt want a cot at home , but seems to like it here, Im wondering if he finds it comforting.. he has his 'dog dog@ ( its horrible but he loves it! thathe brings and calso cuddlies here,, I defintaley think he regresses a bit here, but maybe its because i baby him?) anyway i think ill go for thetravel cot again.. Path of least resistance at Grandmas!! (though hes a healthy eating kid naturally so veg and fruit are easy!)

44? No ! I was 41, I think... actually i had reading glasses before I had it done, but didnt need them after for over 10 years..

Are you in Hants/Surrey ( somehow I thought you are) .. if so I went to East Grinstead eye clinic (Royal Victoria hospital) . Dr Sheraz Daya.. he is considered one of the best.. in fact my optician yesterday was singing his praises.after i told him where I had gone..

Laska5772 · 03/03/2016 19:45

arggh.. edit before posting!! sorry for appalling typos..

Wolfcub · 03/03/2016 19:47

laska I would ask him if he'd like a big boy bed at grandma's he might enjoy the anticipation

needastrongone · 03/03/2016 19:48

And in pony news, I went to feed him today, taking a chance I admit in my work clothes, he ran up to me in the field, did a little jig of joy sort of a thing, therefore splashing me totally in mud, then wiped his face on my sleeve after eating. I looked and smelled like s**t at work.

Wolfcub · 03/03/2016 19:57

need you should video your pony's antics for us, he sounds fabulous

Fluffycloudland77 · 03/03/2016 20:05

NSD.

Fuzz Onwards and upwards eh?.

Girlie Have they sorted you a mortgage broker yet?.

needastrongone · 03/03/2016 20:13

Wolf I try to take pictures and video when he's being amazing, I don't have any when he's being a t**t Grin How you feeling today?

fuzzpig · 03/03/2016 20:21

Thanks everyone. Sadly I don't have a working camera ATM but it's the Eiffel tower set from the architecture range :o sooo cool. Having now seen my mother's day present wrapped up I have a feeling that may be Lego too! And to those of you who do like Lego, no it is not weird to ask for some as an adult! Well maybe it is but WHO CARES. I never had any as a kid so I'm making up for it now. :)

Need how the actual hell have you left a Millennium Falcon unopened?! Shock You could either build it or make a sodding fortune selling it :)

I'm feeling rather wrung out, I will probably post more later but I'm about to continue reading some Narnia to my DD (never read it myself before, really enjoying it!). I do have chocolate though thanks to DH. And I popped into Cex and found some cheap anime to spend my pocket money on. So you know, I have the important stuff covered :o

Colliefeatures · 03/03/2016 20:28

Spent £12 in Aldi on baby stuff and foodie treats.

NSD tomorrow too I think. Although I do need a stamp.

girlie good luck!

Laska which travel cot do you have? I would love to buy a travel cot that our 2 year old would fit in. He's not ready for a bed or a ready bed but we need a solution for our holiday in May. DS grew out of his previous travel cot just before his 2nd birthday!
