I definitely didn't get as many as 9 questions right on UC tonight. I did get to feel smug though because I told DH that Moon River was from Breakfast at Tiffany's, and he didn't believe me. Turned out he was thinking of 'Old Man River'. :o

Right since it's 1st of a new month am determined we are going to go back to recording everything. We lapsed for the last couple of weeks after everything went to hell in a handcart, but we managed all of January so there's no reason we can't do it again. I've set up the new spreadsheet and will remind DH tomorrow.

Also I need to check when DD's bus pass runs out as I only got a 4 week one. Annoyingly you have to have a separate email address for each electronic card - I had mine on my main email, and put DD's on my other one, but I don't have a third email for when we get DS one - can't use DH's as his card is registered to that. Seems a little outdated that they can't allow multiple cards to be managed by one person, like how you can register several devices on one kindle account etc.

fuzzpig · 01/03/2016 00:22

Wreck you had an OWL?! That is awesome. I love owls. I've only ever had a couple of cats when I was younger (my second one, who we got as a kitten, used to sleep on me with his nose on my nose :)) we told the DCs that we aren't getting a pet while we live here though. There's just no space and also going on these threads it can be very expensive too. I'd love something unusual like a lizard or snake. I also love degus and would be tempted by a sugar glider if I hadn't heard they are as smelly as ferrets!

Out of interest I looked up homebuy for our area, the local one is moat.co.uk - trying to figure it out. It seems the only way to find a house through them is via the council anyway as they don't do the open market thingy in our area. So we shall continue putting our effort into getting this place sorted. Long long way to go but am pleased with what we've managed over the last couple of days.

Ipsos · 01/03/2016 03:19

Babs That was great about the meteorological seasons explanation. If you have any more of that I'd like to sign up to hear about it. Smile

So sorry to hear about the house Girlie. I was really excited for you there. Flowers

Ipsos · 01/03/2016 03:37

The school have finally told me what they're concerned about with ds and it's all incredibly minor social stuff. He's basically being a nob in class. I can't believe I've nearly been going white haired for two weeks over the threat of a formal behaviour assessment, when all they needed to say is that he's being a nob in class.

Why is there no whisky or smelling salts emoticon?

WreckTangled · 01/03/2016 05:58

Oh laska you put me to shame Blush it was mainly dd though I just got a pair of jeans which I desperately need!

Fuzz yes my dad found it so we reared it until he flew away back to the woods.

Oh dear ipsos they had you fretting for something so minor!

Nsd planned working and then parents evening later.

WreckTangled · 01/03/2016 06:02

Oh I got the horrible histories books again last night this time for Amazon for £12 so only £1.20 more Smile

babsmam · 01/03/2016 06:23

Ah ipsos all that stress for do little. Then again thank goodness it's do little.
I really like fat face but I'm always disappointed with the sizing and fit. Ah well.
Dh is buying two new tyres for my car today. Couple hundred quid there

Ememem84 · 01/03/2016 06:37

1 March...!!!

20 days till payday. £177 in my personal account. £1710 in joint account. Mortgage payment on Friday. We need petrol in the car but can get that later in the week.

Today is going to be nsd. I'm meeting a friend at lunch but we're going for a walkabout.

Parents left on Sunday for the uk and have instructed me to take all fruit & veg from their house so will do that tonight. Saves me a shop.

Roystonv · 01/03/2016 06:53

idstill we had two ferrets and I miss them so much, the best pets imo and we had a go at most, enjoy. Now we are hoping to retire soon can't get any more as want to travel more and getting someone to look after them when they are used to coming in the house for play time is impossible.

Pointlessfan · 01/03/2016 07:28

Didn't have time to check in yesterday and there's loads to catch up on! Just read through quickly while DD is watching Postman Pat.
Really sorry to hear about your house girlie, that's so disappointing.
We went out for dinner last night for DH's birthday. Main, pudding and drink each came to £45! It's a good thing we don't do that very often.
Today I'm going to do the supermarket shop and clear out the wardrobe. Shopping list is quite short but we've invited assorted mums and grans round for dinner on Mothers Day so we'll have to go to the butchers on Saturday too. Also need to think of a little gift for my mum. Possibly flowers.

Colliefeatures · 01/03/2016 07:42

It didn't feel right not being Collie. That'll teach me. Blush

It's absolutely terrible weather here and I'm paranoid that the playhouse will fly away in the wind! Also, I've never seen a ferret or an owl. Shock

Minnie Flowers

Today is a NSD but DH will be booking a service for the car. Services cost like £130 at the dealer! I think I might cry. A little independent garage down here they quoted £160... I'm really confused. Why would they charge more for a minor service and be convinced it was a good deal?

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/03/2016 07:47

Pointless One of our relatives went for lunch, the client was paying, in London & it was £1000 for three.

Collie you can go to any dealer as long as they use genuine parts and reccomended oil. Service is where the profit is for the motor trade.

Ememem84 · 01/03/2016 08:39

fluffy where did they go......???!! I mean I like fancy restaurants but that's ridiculous! lucky the client was paying

So far today nsd. Much to Dhs disgust we walked into work. Saved £7. It is not 10 degrees here. It is freezing.

needastrongone · 01/03/2016 08:42

Awww bloody hell girlie, that's a blow! House buying is a stressful business, a really rocky road. You will get there. I always think that, when you finally get into your own home, it's usually 'the one', and you feel like there was a reason the others didn't work out. Definitely find out why you were led to believe it was a done deal though, that doesn't seem right at all.

Em I am Grin at the description of your DH watching you!

ipsos being a bit of a nob shows a bit of spirit I feel Grin I know it's been raised before, but how about letting him stay for a packed lunch one day a week and burn off some of that energy in the playground, which would certainly help class room behaviour. Plus, his diet is managed by you. I honestly suspect your DS is tougher than you think Smile

Not sure re spends today as it depends if I got to Aldi or not.

Having a dog walk with my friend with cancer, she starts chemo tomorrow Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/03/2016 08:44

I don't know, they were ordering £300 bottles of wine and if she was down there she must have been driving so I bet she didn't have any.

She works horrendous hours so she deserves a treat.

fuzzpig · 01/03/2016 09:26

Welcome back Collie :o I found similar when I changed my name a couple of times last year - I liked the names, but it wasn't me!

Need thinking of your friend. Such a horrible time. Thanks

Ipsos how frustrating! Please tell me they didn't ACTUALLY use the word 'nob'! Still, all your effort will have been really beneficial anyway. Did they say what, specifically, he was doing? Is it an attention thing, or annoying other children, or...

I am soooooo sleepy this morning. Haven't even got up yet. Blush Must actually get on with some work before we have to leave for writing club, as I want to build on the productive day we had yesterday, but...

fuzzpig · 01/03/2016 09:27

Oh and DH submitted all the extra hours he's worked. Boss tried wheedling out of it saying he couldn't remember that discussion. Fucksake. Angry

Pointlessfan · 01/03/2016 09:37

£1000 - that must've been some lunch!
£71 in Asda, more than I was expecting BUT they have a half price clothes sale on so I stocked up on stuff for DD for next winter. I got her 2 dresses and 6 tops for a tenner. They also had kids' coats for a fiver if anyone wants to get next winter sorted.

lilacclery · 01/03/2016 10:29

In aldi last week I discovered bruising on melon at checkout so decided not to buy. Cashier gave it to me for freeGrin

Doing new ynab free trial to see if it's for me, I have the old one paid for but never fully committed to it.

Frugaleers March On!
Ipsos · 01/03/2016 10:32

Need it's definitely the being spirited thing that they are picking up. Smile It's just keeping playing long after everyone else has stopped thinking it's fun and that kind of stuff. 'cos no children ever do that at all, nope.

The food situation is a bit more complicated than I've told your on here, and staying for lunch definitely would not help. Thanks for the thought though.

Fuzz Sadly they did not use the word nob. It would have simplified things a lot.

Colliefeatures · 01/03/2016 10:54

I've just put in a really pathetic PPI claim for £100 ish. If it's successful then I'll be really pleased. £100 is not to be sniffed at! Grin

Lovetoknit · 01/03/2016 10:58

Sorry to hear about the house girlie, hopefully you will find even better one soon Flowers
ipsos maybe your ds is simply bored and that's why he misbehaves
wreck my dc would love to have an owl like Hedwig Smile

Horrible weather down here, doesn't feel like spring
NSD today
Chilli mix already in the slow cooker

Ipsos · 01/03/2016 11:06

love unfortunately it's much more complicated than that. He had almost constant illness from birth until the start of school and doesn't know how to play with other kids without it all getting a bit chaotic. He's working hard at learning, but is definitely learning. He's also constantly knackered still and they are pushing him very hard academically, which just wears him our and demoralises him. wish Michael Gove had never got involved.

supermariossister · 01/03/2016 11:11

Nsd as staying in, feeling rubbish and tired so have a bath, do some surveys and mooch until ds comes home i think, going out for dinner with dad and gparents, feel awful as to celebrate dads new job really but he will be paying since hes insistent its his treat, think he knows we are struggling.

Im not feeling too great its mothers day soon and im really missing my mum, she died in 2012, she was only 46 and im feeling a bit robbed lately - like there is so much everyone else is doing that she is missing out on, dp tries his best but he cant make it right and i think he struggles with that. I will get my nans something small they both do alot for us and i love them to bits but its just not the same i want to disappear until its all over.

I bought some photos the other day and told dp a good present idea would be frames, seen him trying to whisk some boxes of chocolate out of the shopping this morning before i saw - feel awful moaning because many parents dont have someone buying mothers day presents for them but i have asked him to not buy chocolate as my weight is really getting me down lately, ds is upset because he wants to pick a present himself but dp wont think of that just get it for him so i may end up taking ds myself and waiting outside.i am grateful he does think of things i like but its like hes destined to cheer me up and the only way he can think to do that is buying junk.

supermariossister · 01/03/2016 11:13

Sorry to hear about the house girlie,

and glad to hear dd with the headbump is okay, nasty way to find out it had been done purposely some kids are right pains!

Ipsos - I am glad your ds has you looking out for him, ss has SN and it sounds a lot like you describe when there is lots of them playing together it can get out of hand quickly.
