Marking my spot, will catch up properly later

colliepirate · 28/02/2016 18:07

Just spent £11 on eBay on various bits. We've put aside £80 into our "emergency" fund today.
Also spent £8 something on a prescription.

So happy DH got paid early! Blush

SpaceKablooie · 28/02/2016 18:10

Oh FFS, I just swallowed a big bit of one of my second molars Sad. So much for the frugal pizza. I've known that this was coming for ages, so it's time to get on with it I suppose. /looks up dentists... Any words of encouragement / kicks up the bum Grin?

eastmidswarwicknightnanny · 28/02/2016 18:17

Booty I don't give to collection unless its v someone I have known for some time refused recent one girl worked just over yr with us 11mths of which I was on mat leave!! Stopped donation to birthday present fund when most are term time staff and mine is in summer so often got missed. You could always offer to take over the running of collections and revamp it a bit :)

blueteapot · 28/02/2016 18:27

Wreck problem is I really dont enjoy my job and would love to leave it all behind! Have emailled to discuss moving to a 3 day week, some positive action at least.

Space I hate seeing the dentist you have my sympathy!

£9 top up shop £3.50 of which was a ready made local roast dinner to feed the DCs, DH is working and I have zero energy left to cook today. Bad mummy. I'm hoping everyone takes an early night so I can! £20 petrol too.

Ironing to do and a bit of housework before the DC go down, then some online stuff for work... or just sit with a cuppa and wallow lol we'll have to see how the evening plays out...!

needastrongone · 28/02/2016 18:37

Ipsos, I think you just need to do the Beavers iyswim? I get where you are coming from, it was the same for DS. When he first started Explorers (years yet for your DS I know!), it was 8pm until 9.30pm; by the time they have showered and 'come down' it was very late indeed. They do cope, and they do catch up their sleep. It's sometimes good for them to not do everything to routine, DS especially needed to learn that skill.

Ouch for the tooth Space, it's been a lovely afternoon here too.

I like the way your counsellor suggested we accept gifts booty

I've got a Nigella recipe in the oven. Chicken thighs, marinated in fennel, onion, orange zest and juice and Dijon mustard. I'm serving with roasted new potatoes with rosemary and steamed broccoli. Very simple. Smells lovely Smile

Made £2 on selling 12 eggs at training.

Crikey the A team are good this year, even if I do say so myself, training was fab Grin

needastrongone · 28/02/2016 18:39

Oh, and tomorrows tea will be cauliflower, cashew, coconut and pea curry with rice, from another new recipe book.

babsmam · 28/02/2016 18:43

Space get thee to do dentist tomorrow if possible.
Blue I used to love 3 days as it meant the majority of my week was not at work rather than vice versa.
Ipsos they do cope with the tiredness especially if it's just one night and you can plan a lie in or early night the next day. As I'm a leader DS was going from age 4 and they do cope.

babsmam · 28/02/2016 18:45

Sunday roast today . DD wanted pasta and cheese.
Some one just got a bargain off me £1.50 for tap shoes with taps. Hey hope hope their dc enjoy them and I'm sure it comes back round

bootygirl · 28/02/2016 18:49

Space you poor thing.

I think I am going to try & cut back further & let them talk! Can't do collection as I work part time! Besides I doubt the ones who run it would let it go😉

Need I am in awe of your cooking! Sounds yum!

Pointlessfan · 28/02/2016 18:56

Ouch, space dentist in the morning for you I think!
need that curry sounds delicious.
We did it!! A whole no spend weekend - yay!!

babsmam · 28/02/2016 19:28

Ooh need which book that recipe sounds lush

babsmam · 28/02/2016 19:28

Fuck em booty. Let them talk
Yey pointless

Fluffycloudland77 · 28/02/2016 19:40

Booty I'd say no too, let them talk. You can buy your own good luck cards from card factory and take that in instead.

NSD.

needastrongone · 28/02/2016 19:58

The chicken recipe is a Nigella one, from Simply Nigella. It was absolutely delicious, I would take out any salt whatsoever (recipe added rock salt) and add in a touch of white wine personally, but will definitely do this one again.

The curry is from Made in India, looks easy enough. I'll report back and tweak if needed Smile

WreckTangled · 28/02/2016 20:11

I didn't realise how early it was and am already in bed ConfusedBlush I've been really tired this weekend for some reason.

WreckTangled · 28/02/2016 20:13

Posted to soon..

Just spent £10.80 on a set of twenty horrible histories books, seems a good deal to me? Was on Amazon but from the book people.

fuzzpig · 28/02/2016 20:43

Wow that's a great deal Wreck I have a lot of those from charity shops/ex library stock :) they're all on our little junior reference bookcase now, although haven't got that in order yet. It's looking rather like a classroom in here!

Booty that sounds very spendy and pressured. At my work most people just put in a pound or two. Lots of collections, for people off sick, leaving, pregnancy etc, leaving parties are at work with people bringing food and they set up the table all nicely.

Kind of dreading it for myself though as it'll be so awkward now that I'm leaving without working for ages - if anything happens at all that is. Been off sick since summer and not even a card, which makes me sad even though I should really have accepted it by now Blush :( when I went in the other day with my sick note some people just avoided me altogether. Harsh no?

Anyway! More positive things! :o

Achieved a fair bit today, toy hammock is up and groaning under the weight of all my the DCs' teddies, and in the living room we got more sections of the huge unit cleared out and stocked with more of our many many board games. I took it very easy and did the undemanding. Including dusting our various geeky figures and Lego models, which are now beautifully displayed on a shelf that is making me very happy whenever I look at it. :) I hope that one day if we move somewhere bigger, we'll have proper floor to ceiling shelving for the games (probably in the second downstairs room if there is one, as we can have a bigger dining table to play on) and then we can use more of this unit for display - it's got really nice glass shelves and doors at each side which would really show things off. Charity shop bargain a few years back - used to volunteer for BHF and with my staff discount it only cost £43 delivered! :)

Anyway we are plodding along nicely with the sorting out, so I'm very pleased. It would have been so easy just to leave everything until DH finishes work (so after our holiday) but I'm really glad we haven't. Due to various limitations (the most obvious being my energy levels :o) we can't do a proper Kondo-style clear out, even though I enjoyed her book, so slow and steady WILL win the race.

Agree that's a lovely way of looking at the gift from DH :)

Oh and another positive, we had THE MOST DELICIOUS ROAST EVER tonight. DD helped DH make it which was nice for them. So glad we've got an oven now. The crackling was lush!

Ememem84 · 28/02/2016 20:56

Slow roasted pork for dinner with baked sweet potatoes. And spinach.

Nsd. As haven't left the couch. Have managed a few loss of washing and a bit of half arsed cleaning. But not much.

Feeling much better and looking forward to bedtime!

lilacclery · 28/02/2016 21:12

Hi all posted a long reply this morning & it has vanished will redo tomo because I'm in bed already Blush

colliepirate · 28/02/2016 21:22

We had pasta bake and I drizzled loads of Tabasco sauce on it so I could taste something. Stupid cold! Grin

Just bought Mothers Day gifts via QuidCo. And also bought 50 free Snapfish photos of DS to split between 4 sets of parents/step parents. And some to keep for myself!

It's been a spendy day but am happy with it all Smile

Girliefriendlikesflowers · 28/02/2016 21:26

Need that all sounds delicious Envy you put my cooking to shame! We had fishfingers and beans for dinner Grin

Booty I don't give to every leaving do etc, I give to the ones I am genuinely going to miss Wink if it raises a few eye brows.

Wreck that sounds like a fab deal.

Fuzz yes that is harsh Sad. My dd also had about 50 million soft toys, she is addicted! The hammock idea sounds brilliant, we have 2 big baskets full of them plus about another 50 on her bed!

Have had a productive afternoon, spent ages cleaning out my car - it looks so different, I was Blush at how bad it had got! Also done washing, cleaning and general sorting.

Am going to go in and have a word with dds school in the morning about how they handled her head injury on Thursday, i have been mulling it over and am not happy that she had been left on her own in the foyer before i collected her and that no one 'handed over' exactly what had happened. Thats not right is it? Hate confrontation but feel like I have to say something!

fuzzpig · 28/02/2016 21:33

Forgot to say we collect at work for birthdays but only significant ones. Shame I'll be leaving before my 30th at the end of the year Wink

Ipsos our Beavers group is late too - 7-8. St John and Brownies finish at 6.30 and 7 respectively so it does seem a bit odd as it's the group with the lowest age group. We would've had to have turned his place down for it if he were still in school, although that's because we need a bus to get back after so he's not home til 8.30 or later. If it's a quick car ride or walk then I don't think one late night a week is an issue anyway, will make him feel grown up :o (and if you've just applied it may be a waiting list anyway so he may be older by the time he starts?).

Mum has been asking what DD would like to do for her birthday. She's going to be 9 - it's not til summer but she already said she'd like to stay at Nanny's, and as there's no school, we can :) (it's on a Friday this year) - asked if there's anything particular she'd like to do on the day, probably London as it's so much easier from there. She said a surprise. Suggested Rainforest Cafe to mum which she agreed was a great idea. Will look for vouchers. Possibly a Roald Dahl exhibition too although it's much cheaper in a group so I may arrange a home ed trip instead - waiting for an email back with details.

My parents are also getting her ballroom dancing shoes although they've said that'll be an early present as she needs them now really to start getting used to heels. We're going to the dance shop in my hometown where we bought my ballet stuff when I was little. :) I think my mum is as excited as DD about this, my parents are really chuffed that she is learning (and doing really well I might add! :o). Wish my nan was still around too, it would've made her so happy to see DD dance :)

I can think of approximately 2 gazillion things I'd like to get DD for her birthday Blush even though we've got her main present already (sewing machine). Especially because I'm wondering if this might be the last year of proper toys (TBF I have a feeling it's not, she still plays happily with Happyland :o). Resisting shopping for now though obviously.

fuzzpig · 28/02/2016 21:36

It was this one Girlie :)

Pointlessfan · 28/02/2016 21:38

That is harsh fuzz, people are idiots!
Have retired to bed early with my cough and trashy novel.
