Girlie I have used vinegar on a mattres, sprayed it on and left it to evaporate.

Need to get some milk today, don't think I need anything else.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/01/2016 15:13

Well, lila, dh texted me back and said he thought it was funny and as he should have emptied the bin in the first place I thought it only fair Smile we also had a mountain of recycling by the back door which is said wouldn't fit in the wheely bin. Funnily enough I managed to get it all to fit by putting ds inside and getting him to jump

Had a brain fart today and ended up spending €500 more than I thought on holiday. In my defence this never happens to me and I have savings to cover it. We are lucky to be able to get a holiday. But it means being extra frugal to try and save the difference before June! Frugal win I got flights a little cheaper in sale and used €500 in tesco club card vouchers.

Just a little annoyed at myself!

lilacclery · 07/01/2016 15:53

I thought I'd €300 left in christmas budget and this paid for our accommodation for wedding and cash gift for couple on 28th December, on reflection that was the balance to be paid on our accommodation for our holiday in June Shock oh well plenty of time to save it up again. That wedding would have gone on credit card otherwise so it's interest free loan from our savings I guess.

Those following the penny challenge I worked out if I start again in reverse in July I'll have €1017 odd by end of yearGrin

booty where are you based? Think we're the only € people at the moment - italian are you in Denmark? Where are you heading on holiday booty? I'm also going to use tesco vouchers to pay for my ferry for my holiday in June.

spotty I'd visions of your dh going to pull the bag out and an even bigger mess being on the floor again this evening. We've a small kitchen bin which gets emptied into the wheelie bins probably every day or every second day so don't get a build up of rubbish

girlie having a wee issue too ds is toilet training and his potty has a lift out pot that he loves to empty in the toilet but splashes around the rim and now the stench of wee is horrible around it - must get a bleach spray to make cleaning it quicker.

needastrongone · 07/01/2016 16:26

ipsos Thanks. Smile Downtime would be good! I have at least made soup in the SC today, so apart from serving, that's all I need to do now, so I've sat down with a Lemsip. You are getting though some chores in the house at the minute I notice....

girlie Can you smother the mattress in Febreze? White vinegar? Back massage sounds lovely.

Oh dear spotty

Spends today were £18 nails (I ought to have cancelled but felt it was too late notice) and £18 M&S, which is next to the bank that I use for business, these spends were purely reduced items as I must have arrived at the same time.

CremeEggThief · 07/01/2016 17:42

£2.25 on a latte while waiting for my bus.

Need, you sound a bit brighter. Hope you're on the mend now.

CremeEggThief · 07/01/2016 17:44

Em, your holiday plans sound fab!Envy

Welcome to all newbies I haven't said "hi" to yet. Congratulations on your new job, LollypopSmile.

Ememem84 · 07/01/2016 18:22

£22.50 on a yellow jumper from oasis. Used my gift voucher so technically free. Grin

More bids on eBay stuff. Yippee.

Was going to gym tonight but can't face it. Have a mountain of house things to get done. So must crack on

Also saw THE chair I've been lusting after on ikea is now available to buy online. Previously I could only buy I store and my nearest one is either Southampton or Bristol. Which involves a ferry and a car.

Have persuaded dh that we need it. We saw one in a local shop the other day but it isn't as nice. And is double the price. IKEA one is spendy at £150. But so lovely.

So it's on order. Having it delivered to Southampton docks and popped onto a van. Yippee!

ItalianWiking84 · 07/01/2016 18:30

Dh got the job offered so we are over the moon

NK that sounds good, after I posted about your family being up for emigration that I realised just how bloody nosy that sounded.. (sorry wasnt meant to be, I do wish we had an edit feature..) Anyway fingers crossed it sounds like a good move .. You mustnt leave us Frugaleers though Smile

Laska5772 · 07/01/2016 18:50

Whataboutnodetox · 07/01/2016 19:11

Congrats Italian!

£65 on aa membership and £56 on replacement jumpers is my only spending today. Still haven't been to replace the milk that I used up yesterday. Aside from the jumpers caused by my stupidity im quite happy. Amazon are going to send DH a condolence card at this rate!

Pointlessfan · 07/01/2016 19:30

Great news Italian, congratulations!
NSD for me but got cash out for leaving meal and gift that I'm going to tomorrow.
DH is off to the pictures tonight, he has bought a fizzy drink and sweets from the shop to save money, think I'm having an effect on him!

FantaSea · 07/01/2016 19:35

Italian congratulations to your DH on his new job, fab news!

Pointless I always take in my own drinks and sweets to the cinema Smile

£64 on Tesco delivery

needastrongone · 07/01/2016 19:50

Good news on the holiday and the chair Em Smile

Congratulations to your DH Italian, great stuff.

Creme, still feeling crap. I am not often ill, I swear it all gets saved up for a stonker of an illness every year or so Smile

Slightly high on Lemsip I think.. off to bed.

Soup - carrot, orange and fennel was lovely, I added a hint of ginger.
Chorizo, chickpea and sweet potato yummy too, DS less keen.

LollipopViolet · 07/01/2016 19:51

Realised that yesterday wasn't technically an NSD - I ordered a copy of my birth certificate for £14, but the job centre gave me the money, so technically free, right?

Proper NSD today though, have been in school with a class of year 1's, so no chance/need to spend. In again tomorrow so that'll be another, and the only thing I've got planned before Monday is a trip to the gym, but I paid for a month before I joined this thread :)

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/01/2016 19:59

Well done to your Dh italian.

need You need an early night.

NSD yesterday.

40p on 5 bottles of cream cleaner in tesco.
£1.75 on Divine after dinner mints for saturday.
59p on soya milk.

This bit is a bit boring skip if you want to. It's about free groceries and booze

Using checkout smart and topcashbacks snap and save there is free/very cheap stuff to be had. All apps work on adroid and apple phones/ipads.

Shopping list.

Asda.
Schwartz flavour shots. see app for details of which ones but the 52g ones are 70p. Claim 50p off checkoutsmart and use the same reciept for snap and save. 30p profit. More if you take the cb as tesco clubcard points and boost them.

Bottle of john smiths golden ale. Free on checkout smart. ends tomorrow
Bottle of strongbow cloudy apple cider. free on checkout smart ends tomorrow
4 pack of john smiths golden ale in cans. Claim £2 off checkoutsmart and £1 off topcashback. Makes it £1 for four cans of ale.

4 pack of strongbow cloudy cider. Claim £2 off checkoutsmart and £1 off topcashback. £1 for 4 cans of cider.

Tesco
Bottle of gatorade. Free on checkoutsmart.
Kettle chips chefs signature. Claim £1.50 off checkoutsmart. Then use the same receipt to claim the same from topcashback. £1.50 profit or up to £6 if you boost points.
Pack of tetley extra strong 75 teabags. Claim £1 off checkoutsmart and the same from topcashback. Makes it free.
Deli counter. free 100g of dennys fire and smoke turkey breast from checkoutsmart. They will have to cut and weigh it to 100g or near as dammit.

Sainsburys.
Pack of 24 nutribix cereal biscuits (look a bit like weetabix but with honey) The one on the left. Claim £2 off checkoutsmart and £2 off topcashback. £1.50 profit.

If you have a partner they can also have accounts with checkoutsmart etc but the trick is to put everything onto one receipt. So tomorrow I will do two identical baskets of products on one receipt and claim off each account. If the receipt doesn't print properly ask for a duplicate.

Similar offers are on quidco clicksnap but they are the same as checkoutsmart and will notice duplicate receipts.

Checkoutsmart only pays out at £5 so I buy free things with it to get to the £5 limit. They charge 5% admin.

Ursulatodd · 07/01/2016 20:02

Congratulations to your dh Italian! We are off to Copenhagen in a few weeks time - any frugal tips? I'm struggling with whether to buy Copenhagen cards beforehand?

NSD! 4 in a row (think that's my pb!). I must be training my DH too pointless as I had a bet with myself that he would have to go out and get cheese to go with tonight's dinner (Jack bean burgers) but he just went without. I also made an amazing sweetcorn salsa with things already in - sweetcorn, pineapple, red pepper, coriander, green chilli, onion - so so good!!!

4 NSDs means everything is now postponed til tomorrow - it could be spendy Shock

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/01/2016 20:06

And it looks like I got accepted for a HSBC account so I should get £120 when it's all up and running so I will pay off a chunk of the kitchen tiles when It comes through.
