Lilac I live in Ireland. What about yourself?!

bootygirl · 07/01/2016 20:08

Great news Italian!

Pointlessfan · 07/01/2016 20:08

Wow, fluffy you should go on that American coupons programme Grin

Wolfcub · 07/01/2016 20:09

Fantastic news Italian

NK5BM3 · 07/01/2016 20:15

Thanks fluffy it's useful to know.
laska no worries - I didn't read it like that at all!!

We have estate agents coming round to value the house tomorrow. Thought I need to have an idea of house prices and all just in case.

Today I went back into the office for the first time in maybe 4 weeks and it felt strange. Felt like torching the whole place - that can't be right!

Spoke to a good friend who also works there - one of my few niggling thoughts has to do with the fact that I'm not v happy at the work place for various reasons but a lot of it has to do with the general culture and the general slog of every activity. I don't have a problem with the actual work but just can't bear the way things don't get done. And I wondered whether I was just running away - which seems a bit drastic since my boss isn't going to stay for long.

My friend suggested that I definitely wasn't running away since I didn't apply for the job - they can searching for me. I hope that's right.

Laska5772 · 07/01/2016 20:48

NK, I felt like that about my place also, but that because im underemployed right now , due to govt cuts massively eroding how much money I can get to work with ( and my job is to develope affordable housing.. dont believe all the carp about the help this govt is giving.. theres just none availiable to build good old fashioned social rented houses)..

Have a meeting with my manager tomorrow to talk about my 'this year's work plan' ill have to give it to him straight once again!.. No capital funding availiable , No development ! (simple eh?). However Im sticking (unless they want to give me early retirement, but theres no talk of redundancy yet) , Theres not much chance of other work in my field here and as i'm 60 in two years , and have the campervan plan for then, I can live with it.. (I do get other work to do , just not what I specialse in , and as im the only one who can do all the office stats they all think i'm a statty genius .. (its easy really, but no one else wants to do it).

Ememem different island, yes, but I love yours also ( Beauport Bay is one of my favourite places in the world...)

Laska5772 · 07/01/2016 20:55

15416 steps!! Grin, Recieved three phone calls and talked to them whilst walking up and down the stairs!! and unfrugally wearing out the stair carpet

However, off to have an early night , with book and tea now

supermariossister · 07/01/2016 21:06

Hi all, think ive messed up abit tried to barter with sky as my half price was coming to an end he said the price would be £58 a month which is fibre, tv and phone line but no call package i said was too much and have put my cancellation notice on tv, left the broadband and phone until i had decided on new provider. founds a better deal with virgin and then found that they dont offer in my area yet!

blueteapot · 07/01/2016 21:20

fluffy - have you seen 'shopitize' - similar idea as well! I used these apps a lot at the start of maternity and then fell out of the way of it - they are fab though but def takes a little effort (worth it!)

Congrats to lolli and italian :)

NK fabulous being head hunted!

Today I stocked up my xmas wrap / bows / tissue in tescos - all down to 25p / 50p - spent £6 and should have more than enough for next year.

Also collected a direct order - £10 for 4 gift tins of Vo5 mens hair stuff - they contain a shampoo a clay and a wax by the looks of it - DH uses this stuff and normally pays £3-4 for one item so they seemed a bargain at £2.50 each. The others will do for a few random birthday gifts through the year. I think I might be addicted to the hot uk deals app!

supermariossister · 07/01/2016 21:22

sorry missed that congratulations on the new jobs!

lilacclery · 07/01/2016 21:23

Brilliant news Italian delighted for ye
Fluffy I love your posts about getting stuff for free or making a profit from apps & cashback it's like a mini episode of extreme couponing. We don't get coupons or cashback in Ireland, there's an app so I must check it out.

booty I'm in Ireland too in Kerry
Need that chorizo & sweet potato soup sounds fab. I'm going to make soup on sat with the chicken stock I made yesterday in slow cooker it smells fabulousSmile

Nk not being happy in your work affects all your life, exciting times ahead

MyPatronusIsABadger · 07/01/2016 21:27

Wow fluffy you clever clogs, you've now given me a task for tomorrow.
If you've only just put in your cancellation notice super they'll keep ringing you with deals, don't worry they'll come back to you, they did with us!

I forgot I spent money on the first, £21, but lots of reduced packets of chicken I froze. So:
1st - £21 on cheap meat to freeze
2nd -NSD
3rd - NSD
4th - £5 on bus to work and £3.60 on squash, bread and milk (spar)
5th - £5 on bus to work
6th - NSD
7th - NSD

I have a meal plan for up to Wed next week so we shouldn't have to go to the shops as that's my downfall, then after that I hope the Tesco free trial of deliveries is still on and I can do a very restrained shop then!

bootygirl · 07/01/2016 21:30

Lilac north west here. I hope your not affected by the floods. I used tesco vouchers with Irish ferries few times to England!

supermariossister · 07/01/2016 21:34

i am hoping so if i hold out with ringing them back and they think im really going to cancel (Y) we shall see

lots of no spend days as i still cant go out, feeling a bit brighter though which is welcome, still got a few days of rest needed i think dont feel back to normal. my nan took my washing home as she has a drier she phoned me tonight and said there is something in your washing basket but dont tell your grandad about it, so im mildly confused about what she has snuck in the basket that she doesnt want me to mention.

ds is going on a residential in march thats £80 in £20 chunks between now and april should be manageable with a few bits of clothing needed so ill do a sports direct run nearer the time, im not looking forward to it, 2 days wondering if he is safe and happy is going to send me anxiety through the roof but he will have a great time and i will not show my wobbling!

Ememem84 · 07/01/2016 21:44

I am so glad I'm going to the dentist on Monday. never thought I'd say that teeth are hiring. Back right wisdom tooth. No idea why. Thought maybe it's a sinus thing (happened before sinuses inflame and put pressure on teeth) but not so sure. Ouch!

It's not so bad that I need pain killers. But still painful iykwim.

So will spend a gajillion pounds on Monday.

laksa love Beaufort bay (except for the steps down and back up) dh proposed there. Smile

italian congrats to dh

Allgunsblazing · 08/01/2016 07:00

I made a massive curry. Half I froze, we ate a quarter and the other quarter I split into two tupperwares for lunches.
I am returning a book and a bra.
Spent £1.20 on a bun and a bottle of water in town and...Blush £32 on a dress! Very naughty. Fell off the no clothes for a year resolution precisely 7 days into the year. I was persuaded I needed that. I have a BIG birthday coming up.
MUST put in some overtime! So far I have spent £89 this month (£30 on someone's present, £32 on dress and the rest on bits and bobsConfused must do better!

SpottyTeacakes · 08/01/2016 07:29

Need to go to tesco today as we haven't got any food for dinner and I need to buy my little sister a birthday card.

fluffy you remind me of these ppl in super scrimpers which I loved watching... mean that as a compliment
I wanted brekkie from Mac but while I was going down there I thought stupid to spend 5£ on that, so turned the car around and now home having toast for brekkie, prop healthier and defn cheaper Grin

ItalianWiking84 · 08/01/2016 07:49

ur Copenhagen is expensive and not really frugal but I might give you some tips. Are you going to stay and see things in Copenhagen or?

Ememem84 · 08/01/2016 07:51

Today will be nsd. It will be. I've had a wobble recently - chair, boots....

Dh bought some stuff from asos yesterday. And I introduced him to the wonders of cashback. But for some reason, two entries have been made in my account. I should really tell them shouldn't I?

Organised this morning. Up early. Time for proper breakfast (scrambled eggs!) and now off to work. Cards have been left behind.

Just the cash and vouchers I have in purse today.

babsmam · 08/01/2016 08:02

Nsd planned but need a few bits for the weekend so we will see

fuzzpig · 08/01/2016 09:09

Just doing my spends for the last few days

Tuesday 5th
NSD for both of us! :o First of the year. I'm nicking the idea mentioned upthread, and am recording that in my spreadsheet, so that I can easily see how many NSDs we have.

Wednesday 6th
£6.84 Coop (DH)
£2.30 bus (DH)
£12.60 travelcards for me and DC
70p snack at the station (this is the kind of disorganisation that costs money!)
£35.75 museum gift shop. £27 was from my Christmas money, and most of the remainder was for a tree decoration so comes under the Christmas 2016 budget. Mum gets discount in the shop too :o

Thursday 7th
£9 family bus pass
£14 DH and DCs lunch in between home ed sports clubs
£2.95 groceries (again though, some was for a snack for DCs on the way home from Badgers, really need to allow for this when we do the weekly shop so we don't get caught out!)
£14.90 DH and I had a dinner date while DCs were at Badgers. Usually I have a lesson so stay home but whenever I don't, we spend that time together :o

Today I'm not planning on going anywhere! Need to order Tesco though.

ItalianWiking84 · 08/01/2016 10:02

My parents have just bought us a new dishwasher yaaaai....

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 08/01/2016 10:14

Are there likely to be any drawbacks to a top cashback offer on National Lottery tickets?

I can't see anything obvious. It's a new member sign up, minimum £10 deposit with £10.10 cashback. Those seem to be the only terms and conditions.

Offer ends today and might be worth doing with a roll over jackpot. Essentially it's 5 free tickets right?

Ipsos · 08/01/2016 10:22

Hi need, Yes I've been busy here. I've been writing round to see if there are any grants available for people in my position to carry on my photography project. There are always grants advertised for women returners and women with caring responsibilities, but they have very strict criteria and in the end there is always a reason why I am not eligible. I've hit several brick walls today and have given up. Going to have a bath instead.

Freezing in our house. Sitting in the kitchen with the oven on because I'm too tight to turn the heating on.
