Ooh, where are you going Babs? Exciting!Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 04/01/2016 17:37

I think a good trusted cleaner is a godsend & she has to make a profit.

Nsd. Did loads of sorting shit out like taking the tree down & doing 4 loads of washing with no tumble dryer.

I have invited my lovely nephew and his partner I'm hoping she's his future wife round on Saturday night so I'm thinking nibbles while the Yorkshire pud cooks, roast pork with trimmings & treacle pud with custard. I have a bottle of champagne left over from Christmas and quidco are doing offers on non alcoholic drinks so it shouldn't be too spends on food.

I will do homemade nibbles to keep the cost down.

See you Saturday fluffy Xmas Grin

Majorca crème in the summer and London in April

Pointlessfan · 04/01/2016 17:46

NSD today - hooray! We might book a holiday tonight though, going for Easter as much cheaper than summer, I have to go in school hols unfortunately. Going to pay out of ISA then repay myself with my monthly holiday allowance otherwise we'll never save up enough in time.
Just making broccoli and stilton soup with the last of the Xmas cheese but the recipe requires both leek and onion and we have neither so not very optimistic about it!

babsmam · 04/01/2016 17:50

We are tied to school holidays pointless. Makes me vexed at the price hikes.
I payed just the deposit so have time to save the rest by June

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2016 17:59

Very jealous babs we're going to the IOW Smile in term time Blush

We've found tavelodge with dc a bit of a pain but mine tend to need to go to bed super early so we ended up going to bed then too! I love going to London and go a few times a year we're lucky it's only fifty mins on the train.

Dinner was success apparently my dc love falafel as much as I do.

babsmam · 04/01/2016 18:04

That's the only reason I'm hesitating as they are in bed at 8. Fine by me as I'm in bed at 9 but dh is a night owl. But it's only 3 nights.
I would love to go to iow and priced it up a couple of times but seems an epic journey from the NE. However maybe no worse than going to Cornwall

babsmam · 04/01/2016 18:05

We are going away term time in a couple of years as we are going long haul. when I have started saving for it

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2016 18:09

We've done a sun holiday for IOW so it's £150 including an upgraded cabin. We're only forty mins from Portsmouth though. Honestly do look at Fraser place as Canary Wharf is on the same tube line as Waterloo so easy to get to and the prices aren't far off travelodge. I promise I don't work for them Grin that's where I stayed for my hen do and we got upgraded to the £1500 a night penthouse. Bloody amazing.

babsmam · 04/01/2016 18:12

I had a quick glance spotty but then needed to make food. How long does it take from central to canery? It does look good and result on the upgrade

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2016 18:16

It's ten minutes on the tube then a five minute walk. There's a big waitrose nearby and lots of places to eat plus an underground shopping centre which I'm sure you won't need!

babsmam · 04/01/2016 18:20

Oooh thanks spotty

Whataboutnodetox · 04/01/2016 18:23

Spotty is your sun place somewhere you've been before? We are hoping for a sun holiday to the evil isle of widgety this year.

Ememem84 · 04/01/2016 18:47

£10 on cards in paperchase. But had a voucher.

And £1.85 on hot and sour chicken noodle soup.

Yum.

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2016 18:55

Em that sounds lovely!

What, no we haven't but I googled and it looks good. It's park resorts thorness bay. I upgraded the caravan so should be fine. It's on the beach and has a pool, I figured even if it rains the dc will love it. Plus we can take breakfast and even dinner stuff to keep costs down. Laska lives on IOW so I'm hoping she can give me some tips Smile

574ejones · 04/01/2016 18:58

£1.57 on school bag for DS (used voucher for remainder).

CremeEggThief · 04/01/2016 19:05

I stayed there before, in 2011, Spotty. It's quite a nice, small site, and it has a pub/clubhouse that does decent enough pub grub, if you fancy a night off cooking. If you are NT or English Heritage members, there are lots of properties and coast to visit. I love the IOW. We've done it 3 times from the NE, Babs, and it's better than Cornwall. Train to London and then another to the IOW, which includes your ferry crossing. Majorca sounds fab too!

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2016 19:09

Thanks creme Smile dd's best friend has just moved there so hoping her mum can give me some tips too. We're only going Monday to Friday and dd doesn't know yet. She's used to going on an aeroplane for her holidays but the other day she said she wishes she could go on a boat so I think she's going to be really excited!

Whataboutnodetox · 04/01/2016 19:10

It does look nice spotty! I'll see what I can get with the sun holidays :-)

JeepersMcoy · 04/01/2016 19:37

NSD today for me though dh took dd swimming and did a bit of shopping so a bit of spending on his side.

Ememem84 · 04/01/2016 19:45

Salads are being made for tomorrow's lunch. Sriracha potato salad, leaves, cucumber and mint and couscous. Bit of a random leftover mix.

I lived in Southampton for 3 years while I was at uni and never made it over to IOW. Sad

SpottyTeacakes · 04/01/2016 19:49

Ooo em I'm going to Southampton Wednesday. Nothing like an annual trip to Southampton general hospital Grin

OP posts:
Whataboutnodetox · 04/01/2016 19:53

I use to live in Southampton too! I was at st Alfred's in Winchester and my then dp / DH was at soton uni. I miss it a bit.

JeepersMcoy · 04/01/2016 20:24

I live down that way. Actually where whatabout went to uni. I did my MA and never left (thanks to meeting dh). It is lovely. Not so keen on Southampton though.

Ememem84 · 04/01/2016 20:44

I miss Southampton. Never make it back often enough.

Someone bid on one of my eBay! Set to make £5. At least. Yippee!
