Haven't been on the old thread for a few days so thought I'd start a new thread as it's nearly full.

Bil has given us money for a take away as it was dh's birthday yesterday. Going to get Chinese

SpottyTeacakes · 19/12/2015 16:51

I've been thinking for a couple of years about getting braces. I hate my teeth so hate smiling and having my photo taken. It's expensive though. I want to throttle the dentist who said 'no you don't need a brave they'll just fall into place' when I had the chance to get them on the nhs. Dh would have to pay, I haven't broached the subject with him yet. I expect he would say yes but not until we've paid credit card off. I know that's sensible but I don't think I can wait much longer. Would any of you do it?

babsmam · 19/12/2015 16:56

Glad the op went well need. Fingers crosses for the results.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/12/2015 16:58

Girlfriend36 · 19/12/2015 17:10

Luxy sounds horrendous with your dd and this bully, my dd is a similar age and I can well imagine how awful it has been for the whole family. Hope the school sort it properly for you all.

Ipsos · 19/12/2015 17:31

Glad that bit of the process is done need. Well done for party planning and getting on with things. Good scheme.

Pointlessfan · 19/12/2015 18:07

Pleased the op is done need, hope you get good news from the biopsy.
spotty I know 3 friends who have had braces as adults. All 3 are delighted with the results and the braces weren't noticeable.

Ipsos · 19/12/2015 18:37

I have a friend who has braces too. They were a total success and her teeth look lovely now. I've no idea what it was like to actually have them.

babsmam · 19/12/2015 19:11

I have a friend who had adult braces. She loved the results but it wasn't cheap.
Virgin have been bombarding me with calls and when I finally spoke to them free movies for 6 months and a £2.50 reduction on my bill so why am I suspicious

babsmam · 19/12/2015 20:08

I was right to be suspicios

AdoraBell · 19/12/2015 20:11

What's up Babs?

babsmam · 19/12/2015 20:16

The girl rang me back and my free offer is not as free as she made out. Complaint has gone in.

AdoraBell · 19/12/2015 20:18

Ah, so she misled or doesn't know the product properly?

babsmam · 19/12/2015 20:30

Tbf I think she had some technical issues too. Bit of both. She did hang up on me too which didn't help her case

babsmam · 19/12/2015 20:34

They have rung me back to their credit and increased my broadband and 6 months free moviesXmas Smile

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/12/2015 20:37

spotty

You can get free adult orthodontist treatment, but a Google tells me it's case by case. Pretty sure my dn had to apply for it. It's taken 3 years so far, I'm not sure if dn is a compliant pt though.

I had mine 16-19, wore the brace at night for a further 6 months. I had two upper teeth out and it did hurt when it first went on, and after tightening sessions but it was completely worth it.

Could you get a free estimate off a local orthodontist?.

£44 for food and prosecco to take me through till a week on Monday.
£6 on fake tan so I can wear a dress on Xmas day.
90p on daily mail so I could get the lidl coupon. Only it had been stolen. So I drove 3 miles back to the shop to get a new one, 3 miles back to lidl. Then realised lidl sell the daily mail.

AdoraBell · 19/12/2015 20:39

Oh dear, not good to hang up on a customer.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/12/2015 20:50

Thanks everyone. It will cost a few thousand I'm sure. They're not that bad but it is due to over crowding so might need teeth out? I'm just so cross my parents didn't push for it when it would have been free! I don't think I'd get it nhs as it's purely cosmetic.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/12/2015 21:03

www.chapelroad.co.uk/PDF's/IOTN.pdf

Worst they can say is no, if they say yes you're better off.

needastrongone · 19/12/2015 21:07

You got a result in the end there babs for complaining! Well done.

I am not sure what to suggest about the braces spotty. Do you qualify for any benefits that might get you reduced treatment?

Grin at your Lidl exploits fluffy, so annoying.

Thanks all, we've been at my Dads this afternoon, DH obviously not, he's trying to rest but his hand is obviously hurting a lot. Spare room tonight for me, he will disturb me too much I think. It is 3 weeks for the biopsy results, do they have to grow cultures or something? I am not sure.

colliepirate · 19/12/2015 21:35

Ran out of wrapping paper. Oooops! And our Christmas tree lights blew up.

And I need to bulk out 2 presents. Luckily this is all stuff that should be massively reduced now. Touches wood!

Glad the op went well need the party sounds great Xmas Smile

CremeEggThief · 19/12/2015 21:41

Glad to hear the operation went well, Need. The New Year party sounds fun.Wine

I spent £23 or so, whilst out and about today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/12/2015 21:41

need They'll take a slide and stain it with dyes then examine it. I think. It's quite an involved process because the tissue has to be so thin and can't degrade during the process.

Did they give him painkillers? Luffley pain meds.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/12/2015 21:44

Thanks fluffy that says you need to be under 18?

need I'm not sure to be honest but it's always that with biopsies at work. The consultants are pretty good at predicting results via sight though beforehand.

I've got loads of wrapping paper you could have collie Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/12/2015 21:51

Sorry, crap link. www.nhs.uk/Livewell/dentalhealth/Pages/braces.aspx

Try this one.

I am sure dn only got theirs after 18, it was bad cosmetically but no bite issues etc. Their mum isnt exactly bothered about them which is why it was left so left.
