Ipsos I own that book! Xmas Smile

NSD today - unless I use all the milk to drink copious amounts of coffee.

Thanks for the recipe spotty will definitely make those soon.

Em love that. It's so true. Yesterday I was walking along in town & giggling quietly to myself as I had flashbacks of a drunken night out in the same place 3 years ago... Anyway I was smiling & people were smiling at me for smiling as they walked past. Xmas SmileBrew

collie because of my crazy spiritual hippy friend I've been reading mindful blogs etc. And came across this the other day. It's going to be my mantra for 2016.

Oh come all ye frugalers, joyful in December, oh come ye, oh come yea and chat
ipsos · 10/12/2015 08:24

That's good to know that you've got the book Collie. I'm very puzzled about all this stuff at the moment. Everybody and their dog seems to currently think they're ASD, but the the actual diagnostic line seems to put all these people squarely in the neurotypical range as far as I can see. It's a puzzling business.

lilacclery · 10/12/2015 08:33

rafa there is a sense of pride in spending when you know you've the money saved up for it isn't there. And cleaning stuff is non perishable and not like food where if you buy extra you eat extra!

I actually liked buying the christmas presents this year as I knew the money was there & I could take advantage of sales as they arose.

A couple of weeks ago I was going to buy a hoover and one that got good reviews was on half price at argos, I ordered argos vouchers from my shop and scan which was making the hoover free but they didn't arrive on time so I didn't purchase said hoover for €67.49. Now a hoover that looks to be a better buy and also has good reviews has come up on harveynorman for €54.99 & my work christmas bonus vouchers will work there. Plus harveynorman have a one day sale starting at 9.30am today, I don't expect a hoover that cheap to get any cheaper but I will wait to make sure Smile I got €150 in these vouchers and remainder can go against my car insurance I discovered yesterday if I choose to go with a particular company in February, had I realised this earlier I would have gotten more of my bonus in these vouchers.

I got €350 in dunnes vouchers will buy dd's christmas clothes there and remainder I will use for clothes for myself during the year. They have a good sale just after Christmas so I may visit that! This is a department store so when I feel the need to spend I have this as my back up plan for 2016.

I'm very cross with myself for using the credit cards in last couple of weeks. I know that I will have gift money from subcontractors at work and from my father for Christmas to pay it off but I'm still cross.Angry

Pointless stop twitching
Need your dh has the right idea keep busy until ye know the prognosis

Girlie and loveto my dd also loves my Little Pony in fact she visited ds in hospital on sat and saw that there was a my little pony castle there and on sun brought her ponies in to play in it and it had disappeared to a child's roomSmile

Colliejollychristmas · 10/12/2015 08:48

Em that's the best motivational quote I've seen. I love it!

SpottyTeacakes · 10/12/2015 09:03

In the morning dh comes down and turns the heater (storage) up full whack because he's cold. It really pisses me off because after 15 mins it's boiling and he's buggering off to work anyway Angry it's going to be a bit chilly when you first get up surely?

Should be a nsd today although we have no milk Hmm straight after school dd has swimming lesson then she needs to go straight back to school for her play she's going to be exhausted.

I found this webpage is pretty handy! - 50 ways to save money www.which.co.uk/money/money-saving-tips/guides/50-ways-to-save-money-/

ipsos · 10/12/2015 10:19

Spotty maybe you could put some kind of heater on a plug-in timer switch so that it would warm the rooms that you use in the morning before you get up, but then turn off so that extra heat is not wasted?

SpottyTeacakes · 10/12/2015 10:21

I really don't think it's worth it yes only up for an hour before he leaves for work. He's huet like a grumpy teenager in the morning Hmm

ipsos · 10/12/2015 10:26

It might help if it means the difference between 15 degrees and 17 degrees once the winter sets in. These heaters are thermostatic so you could just use one to make sure that the air is not actually frigid.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/12/2015 10:30

That's the thing though it's not that cold!

ipsos · 10/12/2015 10:39

Maybe you could do one of these YNAB budget things and itemise the cost of heating and tell dh he can have x number of mornings of heating in exchange for missing one pint of beer, or whatever. Give him a budget for treats and tell him that morning heating goes on his treat budget if he wants it. It probably costs about 10p a day, going by my measurements.

lilacclery · 10/12/2015 10:48

ipsos that's a genius idea!

I read yesterday on one of the threads on credit crunch about not having heating on a timer, I'm thinking of putting this in place except for one hour to ensure water is hot enough for showers.

CremeEggThief · 10/12/2015 11:14

Spotty, would you skip the swimming lesson just for today, if you think it's too much for DD? I used to skip those sorts of activities if DS had a school thing in the evenings when he was younger.

SpottyTeacakes · 10/12/2015 11:18

Hmm I could creme but I've paid for it and can't stand to waste the money Blush

CremeEggThief · 10/12/2015 11:26

I know it is a waste, but it might be worth it, as a one-off.

needastrongone · 10/12/2015 11:31

Thanks for the link emma, useful information.

spotty, you wouldn't go if she was ill would you?Smile

Twitched on Amazon. Bought some clear Christmas lights for my posh, colour coordinated tree (I have two, one is a mish mash of old baubles that mean something and things the DC have made over the years) and some candles, cos I love candles!

AdoraBell · 10/12/2015 11:46

£1 on Christmas cookies, 2 large decorated cookies because the bank are raising money for Alzheimer's.

£4.35 on breakfast, oops snack in coffee shop. In town doing errands today, I might buy some more gift wrap. Only if it's on offer though. Also tinsel if I see some.

Will catch up later.

ipsos · 10/12/2015 12:58

I just got a book from amazon that I didn't order, and it has no order sheet in it. Weird. :-)

SpottyTeacakes · 10/12/2015 13:03

Could it be a gift ipsos?

Lovetoknit · 10/12/2015 13:04

Hallway looks great ipsos, ours is small and full of shoes and wellies
girlie both dds love My little pony books and have some ponies and cuddlies as well, I know you can buy some toddler toys but the books are aimed for 7+ so I don't think they are babyish Smile
LSD yesterday - small donation at school after dd X-mas play
NSD today
Found a nice book with felt decorations at the library so going to make some with dc, I made a shooting star with little dd for school and she really enjoyed it Smile
