need I am so sorry to hear that Flowers I lost my Dad to skin cancer over 30 years ago (he was only 38) and I know since then the treatment has been lot more successful so I will have my fingers crossed for you dh and will be thinking of you both and your dc xx

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/12/2015 20:36

Oh god need, no advice from me either but head down and get through it best you can. Thank god you have medical cover.

needastrongone · 08/12/2015 20:40

I don't know that he has, the noticing part I mean. He's had it a few months, it's on his hand, just grown so significantly these last few weeks. I keep hovering round him, so he's told me to f**k off and go back to my usual blunt, straight talking self Smile

The 3 weeks will be hard, especially over Christmas, I don't know why it's 3 weeks, it's private treatment, so can't imagine it's funding or numbers etc.

Girlfriend36 · 08/12/2015 20:40

Oh Need Sad am so sorry to hear that, do they know what type of skin cancer it is? Must be so scary for all of you Flowers Wine Cake

Was thinking the same tonight Rafa the winter means we are in so much more, during the summer dd would come in from school and then be out playing with her friends and climbing trees until 8pm! Now we are twiddling our thumbs from 6pm till bedtime Grin we are South West as well.

If it's any help need there's a curable form of skin cancer that runs in my family. When any of us gets it the doctor just removes and that's that. Job done. Fingers crossed your dh has something like that.

AdoraBell · 08/12/2015 21:23

Oh need fingers crossed it's been caught in time.

Happy birthday to miniLove, the presents and cakes sound lovely.

Fantastic looking baking there what

Thanks for the info on the face cream, will have a look at that.

Lovetoknit · 08/12/2015 22:31

girlie dd got the doll bed, a book about how to draw animals I got in Lidl couple weeks ago and triple pack of books about "magic kittens". For Christmas she is getting 2 books from her My little Pony series, Moshi monster Dvd and cards and figures. I won a box full on eBay - obviously second hand but in a really good condition. I am also knitting a new scarf for her and making some doll dresses and an apron since she likes to help in the kitchen. She put the books and the moshi monster stuff on her Christmas list and all the other stuff are just small stocking fillers I can make.
thank you adora

Whataboutreindeer · 08/12/2015 22:33

Need what a worrying time, so horrid having to wait. DH's grandfather has another "bout" at the moment and hopefully they've got it all again. Ww2 in the desert with no sun cream. Fingers crossed your DH will have the least bad kind and it's contained.

Ememem84 · 09/12/2015 06:58

need thoughts are with you guys. Awful time to have news like this it's always awful timing but specially Christmas

I hope everything is ok for your dh and it turns out to be a lesser kind.

Pointlessfan · 09/12/2015 06:59

Sorry to read your news need I really do hope everything is ok and you have caught it in time.
Just realised we haven't paid our nursery fees for Dec, hope they don't fine us, will sort it today.
Have also run into an ISA issue, I had a separate savings account for Xmas/holidays which the bank persuaded me to close and put into my ISA instead as I'd get a better rate (only slightly!). Tried to transfer the Xmas money into our current account last night and got a message saying I couldn't replace the money I withdraw in the same tax year. I'm going to have to take it out as we've already spent it but does that mean I can't pay any more back in until April? If so I will also lose my preferential rate as I'm meant to pay in at least £3 a month. Grrr.

babsmam · 09/12/2015 07:08

Morning.
Isa have a limit on how much you can pay in tax free. But not sure how that works sorry. Does it mean you can still go up to your limit but not over by replacing funds and putting in the same money twice iyswim. Phone call to the bank? Did they know your plan when they sold you the product?
Nsd planned as out of money until Friday

SpottyTeacakes · 09/12/2015 07:10

Pointless with my isa you can deposit and withdraw as much as you like as long as the total doesn't exceed the cut off which I think is around £4500. It sounds like the same warning that comes up on mine.

Should be nsd today. Ds has pre school and I have a blood test etc. Hoping to wrap dh's presents too to minimise the chance of him finding them!

Colliejollychristmas · 09/12/2015 07:23

Today may be a spendy day on glasses. I keep holding back on ordering them as they are so expensive! The lady wrote £110 and £190 on my prescription so I'm hoping the £110 includes lenses. Confused

It's late night shopping night in Truro so I may pop along for some festivities..

SpottyTeacakes · 09/12/2015 07:29

I have a little AIBU but too scared to post there.

I want to know if iabu to expect the school/council the get the dc in our village home on the last day of term. All the dc here get a bus to/from school but on the last day of term they're finishing at 2 and the bus driver has said she cannot physically get there. The school have just assumed we will pick them up in fact they haven't even said anything to us.

I'm going in to talk to them today as I know the driver told them last week she couldn't do it but we still haven't heard.

Tbh I could usually pick dd up but we are in London that day and my mum will be here to wait for dd (mum is disabled). There's also two dc whose mum doesn't drive, two more whose mums on crutches as she fell and another whose parents work and goes to his nans and she doesn't drive Confused

Sorry I know it's long winded but it's an added stress I don't need!

Pointlessfan · 09/12/2015 07:37

Thanks for ISA advice, I'm sure I have withdrawn and paid in during the same tax year before. I only want to withdraw £300 it's not like I'm taking out thousands (there are not thousands in there, sadly!).
Not sure about school buses on the last day. We have a half day at our school but virtually all the kids live in walking distance so it's never come up. I think* though that school has a legal requirement to house children until the usual time if necessary and to provide food for those on free school meals although this may just be sandwiches if the kitchen is closed.
*I might be wrong but think I've heard that before, worth checking it out.

SpottyTeacakes · 09/12/2015 07:39

We have said worst case scenario our dc will just have to stay until the bus can get there which won't be more than an hour.

MrsSimonNeil · 09/12/2015 07:54

Morning, so sorry to hear your news Need fingers crossed for you both hear. 3 weeks does seem a long time to wait for the results Flowers

I had such a busy day yesterday I didn't get a chance to post. About £10 spent on the pre school Christmas fayre. I did win a hamper of Christmas goodies on the raffle though and I brought a lovely book for friends little boy. Xmas Grin I also ordered a small Disney tsum tsum each for the DC stockings. They had 20% off and I used money from PayPal to pay for them. I'm feeling quite pleased about that. It's just pants and socks to get now [santa]

Colliejollychristmas · 09/12/2015 07:55

spotty Definitely mention it to the school. Could you and the other mums share a big taxi? I know that's an expensive way of doing it though and probably not practical. Sad

Getting DS from school is one of my biggest worries in the future. I don't drive and we have none nearby. So we have to move by January 2017. thats my excuse and im so excited

MrsSimonNeil · 09/12/2015 07:56

Spotty it does seem bad that the school are just expecting parents to be able to pick the children up without even consulting them! I wonder if they even realise that not everyone can drop everything just because it's nearly Christmas.

MrsSimonNeil · 09/12/2015 09:08

I'm not sure if this is any help to anyone. scholastic are having their book sale today. Most books are only £1 but i think their is a minimum order amount

scholastic

MrsSimonNeil · 09/12/2015 09:09

please ignore my spelling today - i was awake a lot in the night Blush

ipsos · 09/12/2015 10:30

Thanks MrsSimon. I just ordered a bunch of books from that sale. :-) Fantastic.

lilacclery · 09/12/2015 10:31

spotty that's so annoying and awful that they haven't let ye know.
Dd goes on a school tour today so had to be at school before the bus today, if we hadn't au pair this would've caused me a lot of hassle but luckily she was able to bring dd to school early.

It did cause au pair hassle though because she's nervous with driving and was awake at 4am as a result worrying. She drives much further in the opposite direction a couple of times a week but today's journey was on more country roads

I've been shopping and emptying my basket on eyeslipsface a lot in past few weeks. I do need make up brushes. There's an offer today for free shipping and a lipgloss set so decided to go for it, now the code isn't being acceptedHmm
