technology... it tkaes ages to post anything

fuzzpig · 07/11/2015 16:09

Funny Rafa I was just coming to grumble about the self-published stuff too as I just got something that on second glance appears to be disturbing badly written tripe! It is really hard to tell now. I don't get a lot of time to read these days and TBH I would like to read well written stuff not something full of errors. I only paid 99p - usually get stuff from the library as I get free reservations anyway.

I am just generally getting grumpy about the internet TBH. Every page seems full of adverts, flashing things, embedded videos, just STOP IT! Angry

(I may be getting old... at the tender age of nearly 29 Blush)

Unescorted · 07/11/2015 16:43

Yay my phone works.
I was trying to tell you about the amazing bacon experiment. Cost £3.50/kg to make and doesn't shrink in the pan in a watery mess. It is easier to do than making a cup of tea and a kazillion times easier than bread.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/11/2015 16:45

What is it? One of the books I've just got for free I was going to get last night. 4 pages in I'm glad I didn't pay for it. Hoping it might get better but it seems on second look to be self published but a 'best-seller'.

Also got Life of Pi, hoping I'll be safe with that.

ipsos · 07/11/2015 16:51

spotty I like your phone post. Smile

Unescorted · 07/11/2015 16:54

I took a self published book out of the library once. It was so unedited that it still had spelling mistakes.

needastrongone · 07/11/2015 16:58

Nice haul there river, I love the recipe ideas too.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha, house insurance quote has gone up £20 pcm to renewal. Never made a bleedin' claim and will certainly not be renewing. Nice job for tomorrow I feel.

£10 on a riding lesson for DD today.

Going out tonight though, so will be spendy. We NEVER go out, not into town! It's DH's birthday.

Need to tot up yesterdays spends as I bought some Christmas presents, will wait until they show up on internet banking, the money is there to pay for them.

needastrongone · 07/11/2015 17:02

I didn't budget for the new boots from Next though, so may send them back. My others are 2 years old and I feel a bit embarrassed going out in them tonight, they are pretty wrecked.

Yesterday

£33 nails and brows
£20 DC hair
£18 Sainsburys, Xmas
£70 Morrisons, also things for Christmas added on, usually spend £45/50.
£10 DS Karate.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2015 17:06

E2Save are doing iphone 4S for £9.99 a month. It's a re-furb but that doesn't really bother me anyway.

I might treat myself to one after christmas bet I dont in the end.

NSD.

lilacclery · 07/11/2015 17:48

My iPhone is a refurb and its great.
Today was spendy day in town & ds seems to have a bit of a bug, had to come & shower him from waist down my car stinks, had to abandon aldi shop part way through as that's where his accident happened.
Will add up receipts when I take stuff in from car.

Lovetoknit · 07/11/2015 17:54

£6.40 on wood for wendy house
Very wet and windy this morning but luckily no more rain after lunch so managed to get lot done on the wendy house, the walls are up and half of the the roof is done. Hopefully we can finish it tomorrow.
Dd had a great time at the sleepover but late night and not a lot of sleep resulted in her turning into Miss Crankypants
Homemade pizza and garlic bread for dinner tonight so just need to figure out some pudding

Collieputthekettleon · 07/11/2015 18:00

Spent £20 in Homebase on some bathroom storage. And then £4 in Sainsbury's as we needed Lemsip etc. Not as Spendy as I thought though. We spent the afternoon on the beach which was lovely.

fuzz I'm the same. Especially with auto playing videos with sound on various websites.

Ememem84 · 07/11/2015 18:23

fuzz auto play videos on websites winds me up Facebook I'm looking at you

Have just woken up from a surprise nap. was meant to be studying. Oops.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/11/2015 18:24

adblock and popup blocker ensure I miss most of those. (Sorry mnhq)

Popup blocker can stop some online forms from working but you can disable it temporarily to prevent that.

SpottyTeacakes · 07/11/2015 19:33

Oh no lila! Dd had a similar accident at school last term.

The fireworks were good got free sparklers and glow sticks so didn't spend anything.

babsmam · 07/11/2015 19:38

Hope ds is OK lila.

£6.50 each in Iceland and lidl, £37 in aldi.

Dd wants cantalot castle. Can I bring myself to spend £44 on it. (that's cheap too)

lilacclery · 07/11/2015 20:13

Au pair said wed he had the same thing. He's been teething. I've cut out milk anyhow just to give his tummy a chance. It's his birthday party tomo & his form is great so fingers crossed.

fuzzpig · 07/11/2015 20:16

Good to know about the ad blocker thingies, I've never used one.

Unescorted it's part of this county's library stock policy never to have self published books (apart from occasionally something 'local history' related) - even if they are donated they don't go into stock.

fuzzpig · 07/11/2015 20:27

Just got 4 tickets to Minions tomorrow, £6.32. Inside Out was also on Movies for Juniors but that was sold out so it made the decision for us.

Rafa it was a thriller that I downloaded for 99p, sounded like a good very scary book and the author page said about his previous job in the field he's written about. But then read the first page and it's just vile. I've deleted it now (along with another couple of self published books that I'd got a while ago and would never get round to reading) so can't remember, it was in one of the top 100 lists though.

It seems so easy to do self publishing and actually get lots of sales, so you'd think I'd be tempted (I'm starting to write my book soon :o) but I don't think I would.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/11/2015 21:01

I've got as far as a line that begins 'That alone should tell you enough about X's family to understand why...'

I've got a feeling the characterisation isn't going to be great.Grin

babsmam · 07/11/2015 21:19

[santa] £80 on Amazon on Canterlot and my god daughters pressies.

AuditAngel · 07/11/2015 21:26

Ordered DS boots for his trip, £48 from Clarks, had to pay £5.50 delivery to ensure they arrived on time as not in stock locally.

£23 in Gap buying DS a jacket for Christmas (bright orange, cellular type cotton with fur lining) plus hat and gloves for his trip. Used 40% off email, but I think they put through 50% discount Grin

£8 in McDonalds to buy mum and DD2 lunch plus Diet Coke for me. £2.80 in Sainsbury's for a sandwich. £11 on a pair of shoes for DD2 in the sale.

£1.80 for parking.

£5 for 2 swimming badges and certificates for DD2 who has gone up a class.

Pointlessfan · 07/11/2015 21:31

Oh no Lila, hope he's better soon. Went to friend's house to watch local school's firework display from their garden. £1 on sparklers.
